Introduction
Confused and more than a little hurt that such a big piece of her aunt’s life was kept from her, Kathy takes the only clue she has: an old brass key. It leads her to Moonbell Cafe, a forgotten little shop tucked into a part of town she never knew existed.
The second she walks through that old red door, she knows this place is anything but ordinary. Flowers whisper when they think no one is listening. Pastries seem to have opinions of their own. Strange customers show up from places that shouldn’t even be possible. And the cafe itsel it feels like it’s been waiting for her. Like it already knows her.
There’s just one problem. Kathy has never used magic a day in her life, and she has no idea why this place answers to her.
Still, she can’t walk away from the only thing her aunt left behind. So she decides to keep Moonbell Café open. With cheerful Marisol at her side, mysterious Mason hovering in the background, stubborn Gerald questioning every choice she makes, and elegant Beatrice offering help that always feels like it comes with strings, Kathy slowly turns the struggling café into something warm and alive again.
Then Antony walks through the door. A charming young man who knows more to what ever she has experience in the cafe the good and the bad.
Chapter 1
Kathy Hart had spent three weeks learning just how unpredictable grief could be.
Some mornings she woke up fully expecting to hear her aunt moving around downstairs, opening kitchen cupboards and complaining that Kathy had forgotten to buy enough coffee. Then the memory of the quiet hospital room would rush back the steady hum of the machines, the way Aunt Evelyn had squeezed her hand during their last conversation, as if she were trying to say something important but simply lacked the strength to speak.
By noon she usually felt angry with herself for lingering on those memories. By evening she missed her aunt more than she knew how to express.
That exhaustion was the main reason she almost ignored the letter.
It arrived on a rainy Tuesday morning while Kathy stood in her small kitchen, trying to figure out whether she had enough money to pay the electricity bill and still buy groceries. The envelope had been delivered by hand. Her name was written across the front in dark blue ink, followed by her current address. In the bottom corner, the return name read: Evelyn Hart.
Kathy went completely still. Her aunt had been dead for three weeks.
She carried the letter to the kitchen table and stared at it for nearly a minute before finally tearing it open. Inside was a single sheet of paper informing her that she was the sole beneficiary of a property on Briar Street, and that she was expected to meet with an estate lawyer that very afternoon. There was no further explanation no note, no final sentimental line from her aunt. Just an appointment.
At first she considered not going. Over the years, Evelyn had consistently avoided talking about her past. Whenever Kathy tried to ask questions, her aunt would gently change the subject, bring out a plate of warm cinnamon rolls, and remind her that some things were better left buried. Eventually Kathy had stopped asking. Now, out of nowhere, there was a property involved, and she had no idea what to make of it.
By three o'clock that afternoon, Kathy sat across from a gray-haired lawyer named Gerald Moore in a quiet office above an old bookstore. He looked at her over the top of his reading glasses.
"You must be Kathy Hart," he said.
"Yes, I am."
He studied her face a moment before closing the file on his desk. "You look a lot like your mother."
Kathy felt her stomach tighten. "My aunt never spoke much about my mother."
Gerald noticed her discomfort and steered the conversation back to business. "Your aunt left you a property, several business accounts, and everything contained within the building itself."
Kathy blinked. "A business? What kind of business?"
"A café," Gerald said.
She stared at him, bewildered. "My aunt owned a café?"
He offered a faint, almost amused smile. "She owned many things you were never told about."
Kathy leaned back, trying to process it. "What exactly did she leave me? And why does it sound like you're bracing for something?"
Gerald hesitated, choosing his next words with visible care. "Because there is a vault beneath the building that has been sealed for nearly a century, and your aunt was the only person keeping that seal intact. If the café closes for good, the seal weakens with it."
Kathy looked down at the brass key he pressed into her hand. It was warm warmer than a piece of metal sitting in a locked drawer had any right to be. For the first time since opening the letter, she stopped worrying about her bills or the strangeness of the afternoon. She thought instead of her aunt, carrying this enormous burden alone for years, dying without ever finding the words to explain it to the person she loved most.
"When can I see the place?" Kathy asked softly.
Gerald checked his watch. "It's already waiting for you."
Twenty minutes later, she stood before a narrow, two-story stone building at 18 Briar Street. Dark green shutters framed the windows, and wooden flower boxes sat beneath them. A faded sign hung above the entrance, painted with a crescent moon that still looked vibrant despite its age.
The strangest detail was the flowers in the window boxes small, vivid blue blossoms. As Kathy stepped closer, every stem turned toward her, slow and deliberate, like something waking up.
She stopped on the sidewalk, watching the plants track her.
"I'd advise against touching those," a voice said behind her.
Kathy spun around. A tall man stood near the neighboring building, a black umbrella resting against his shoulder even though the rain had stopped. He looked to be in his early thirties, dark-haired, sharp featured, with the kind of stillness that came from being on guard for a long time.
"Why shouldn't I touch them?" she asked.
He walked toward her, unhurried. "Because those flowers only answer to the owner of the shop. They don't know yet that's you."
Kathy's fingers tightened around the key in her pocket. "And who are you?"
"Antony Peterson."
"Do you work here?"
"No."
"Then why are you standing outside my building?"
His eyes dropped briefly to her coat pocket, to the shape of the key beneath the fabric. "Because your aunt asked me to watch over this place."
Kathy frowned. "For how long?"
"Seven years."
The number caught her off guard. "Seven years, and I'm only hearing about you now?"
Something shifted in his expression not quite guilt, but close to it. "Your aunt knew a day would come when she could no longer protect it herself. She didn't want you carrying that weight before you had to."
A lump rose in Kathy's throat. She wanted to press him further, to ask what exactly he'd been protecting the café from, but before she could shape the question, the front door clicked open on its own.
A warm draft rolled out into the cool air, carrying the smell of ground coffee, cinnamon, and fresh vanilla. Kathy peered inside. The overhead lights were off, yet the interior glowed with a soft, natural light, as though the building itself were holding its breath. On the main counter sat a small creature that appeared to be made entirely of baked dough. It looked up at her, blinked its dark eyes, and smiled.
Kathy stepped back toward the street. Antony caught her arm, steadying her. "There's no need to be frightened."
"I'm not frightened."
"You're stepping away from the entrance."
"I'm reconsidering my choices," she said dryly.
A faint smile crossed his face and vanished just as quickly.
Inside, the dough creature hopped off the counter and nudged a polished wooden box toward the door. Kathy took a breath and crossed the threshold. The moment her foot touched the floorboards, the whole café seemed to exhale hanging glass lamps flickered to life, flower petals unfurled in the vases, a copper kettle began to simmer on its own, and somewhere behind the counter an oven chimed softly, as if it, too, had been waiting for her to finally come home.

The Rejected Luna’s Rise
Luna Ariana Volkstane slid the formal rejection request across the table. "Let's end this bond. It's better for you, me, and your first love."
He just smirked. "You want me to reject you? You think you can break our bond that easily?"
So she did. Ariana cut ties with him completely, poured herself into her career, and rose to global fame as a legendary healer, her knowledge of rare herbs, wolf anatomy, and ancient magic sought after across continents.
The powerful suitors lined up. The Alpha of an overseas empire whispered, "Ariana, hurry up and perform the severing ritual. I can't wait to claim you." A powerful pack leader vowed, "I'll be there with you the day you break the bond." A legendary wolf attorney promised, "I'll handle your rejection case with the pack council myself."
Ariana just rubbed her temples. It's not that she didn't want the split, she wanted it more than anything, it's just that the Alpha she was mated to refused to let go.
Finally, she announced, "Whoever can officially get me rejected, I'll put you at the head table of my bond-breaking celebration."
Not long after, Alpha Damian was served the official rejection request right in the middle of an emergency pack council meeting. That same afternoon, he was attacked by rogues at the gates of his own territory.
When Ariana showed up at the pack infirmary with healing herbs, she repeated calmly, "Let's sever the mate bond. It's better for you, me, and everyone else."
But the cold, untouchable Alpha pulled her into his arms, his eyes blood-red with fury. "You want me to reject you? Over my dead body."
