Chapter 1
Alyssa's POV.
“Alyssa.” I heard my Uncle scream and I ran as quick as I could, wearing my slippers quickly, I ran outside.
My heart thumped loudly, with fear of what would happen, whenever he called me, it wasn't for something good, he would end up beating me up.
I wanted to avoid getting punished, so I ran as fast as I could downstairs. I winced as I slipped on the stairs. My legs were trembling, I tried to walk faster, but I couldn't even manage a single step.
I looked at my feet, noticing I had slipped, I fell onto my knees, crying quietly.
My uncle stood at where I fell, looking at his face twisted in rage when he saw me like that.
“Where have you been?” He yelled at me, I shook my head, tears welled up from my eyes, my throat ached from trying to hold in all my crying.
He sighed angrily, walking to me, holding out his hands, wanting me to stand up.
I didn't trust him as he has never been this nice, I stared at him searingly, my heart pounding.
But I just wanted to cry more, he held out his hand again, this time I stood up. When he was satisfied, he grabbed me by the wrist pulling me close to him, then slamming my back against the wall, using both his arms.
“You are worthless! You can't even do one thing right, you weakling.” He yelled, hitting me.
I felt my blood rush to my cheeks, I tried not to flinch, trying to hold back my sobs, but it just wouldn't stop coming, tears streaming down my cheeks, staining my neck with snot, making it sticky and wet.
“Don't you dare cry, I'll make it more unbearable if you do.” He said, and I shook like someone who was exposed to the cold.
I whimpered, biting my lip to try to keep my sobbing silent.
After a few seconds of silence he released his grip on me, pushing me further into the wall, his hands went under my shirt, his fingers grabbing my waist harshly.
I closed my eyes and cried louder, he started laughing lightly.
His hand went through my hair, stroking my head, before tugging on it roughly, forcing my eyes open.
"Look at me.” He said, I did as I was told. His eyes pierced mine, causing me to break eye contact. I blinked rapidly, willing myself not to cry in front of him, but it didn't work.
I bit my lip harder, as hard as I could, until I tasted blood in my mouth.
My lips were stained red, and I knew it must be bleeding, as I kept sucking on it to stop the blood flowing, but no matter how much I sucked, it wouldn't stop flowing from the wounds.
My uncle slapped me, which caused me to yelp in pain, and he did it again, and again, until he was satisfied with all those painful slaps, I stopped biting my lip.
My lips were already swollen, so he let go off my chin.
My Uncle looked satisfied, satisfied with himself for being able to do whatever he wants to me.
He walked away from me, going inside the house.
I stayed in the same position for several minutes, listening to his footsteps getting farther and farther away, until they were gone completely.
I slowly got to my feet and wiped the tears on my face. I made my way inside the house, wiping them from my eyes, hoping that no one would notice the marks left behind on my skin.
I made my way upstairs weakly and climbed under the covers, burying myself deep inside my blankets. I tried to stop myself from shaking so badly. I couldn't help it.
He was always violent, hitting me every chance he got, I wished my parents were alive.
They'd kill him if they ever found out what he does to me.
But they weren't here anymore, and there was nothing I could do but accept my fate.
I curled up into a ball, covering my ears, trying to block everything else out.
It was useless, though. It's not like I could ever block anything out now because it had happened.
And there was nothing I could do about it.
I woke up the next morning feeling exhausted, I sat up in bed, rubbing my eyes, trying to wake myself up.
I prepared myself for the day, using makeup, I covered the wounds on my face.
I threw some clothes on, I put on an oversized sweater with the hood pulled over my head and jeans, brushing my teeth while doing so.
Once I was done with washing my face and brushing my teeth, I turned around to look at myself in the mirror, I was pale with dark circles under my eyes.
I looked terrible.
I sighed heavily.
I made my way downstairs and made myself breakfast, eating it quickly. I looked around, hoping to not see my Uncle this morning.
I didn't have any energy after he hit me last night.
I finished breakfast and took my bag ready to leave school. Happy that he let me go to school, I grabbed my backpack and left my home. I decided to take a walk and clear my mind.
I was lost in thought, trying to think of how bad my life became, I didn't see the car coming.
When the car came closer, I tried to run. But I was too late, it slammed right against me sending me flying into a tree, landing on the ground on my stomach, the impact knocked me unconscious.
“Hey! Hey!” Someone yelled, and my eyes fluttered open.
I was surrounded by blackness, the only light I saw was from the moon, I felt cold all over.
I attempted to sit up, but I fell to the side, the movement jostled my injuries. I screamed out, clutching my body, attempting to protect my wounds from further damage.
“You weak tool, don't move.” I stilled when I heard my Uncle's voice.
He sounded angry and frustrated, which sent shivers down my spine.
The air around me changed, suddenly I was on fire, and then I felt ice.
I was breathing heavily, my whole body was shaking. I didn't know why.
