Introduction
Chapter 1
Zara’s POV
“You're doing it again, Coach. Staring at the starting blocks like they owe you money.”
Tasha crossed her arms, tapping a neon-pink sneaker against the cracked synthetic track. The ten-year-old possessed way too much attitude for a Tuesday afternoon and she knew exactly how to use it to annoy me.
“They do owe me money,” I countered. “I spent my last ten bucks buying you that sports drink, so you better pay attention to my form instead of analyzing my face.”
Tasha rolled her eyes, gesturing for me to get on with it. “I am paying attention. You just talk too much instead of running.”
“Watch the angle of my back,” I instructed.
I crouched down, placing my hands on the rough synthetic surface.
The Bronx track club had seen better days long before I arrived to coach here. Potholes dotted the outer lanes and the bleachers rusted under the afternoon sun, yet it was the only safe place left for these kids. I blocked out the noise of traffic from the nearby street, focusing on the imaginary finish line.
“On your marks,” I muttered to myself.
I raised my hips, driving forward. My cleats bit into the surface. I pushed off with everything I had. The familiar rush of wind met my face.
Then my left hamstring seized like a rusted coil.
I stumbled, catching myself before my knees hit the ground. I disguised the misstep as a casual jog to save face. Pain spiked up my leg, settling deep in the muscle. I swallowed a gasp, forcing a smile onto my face as I turned back to my student.
“You hesitated on the drive phase,” Tasha pointed out.
“I'm just making sure you can spot a mistake.”
I rubbed my thigh, walking back to her.
Tasha narrowed her dark eyes, handing me my water bottle. “You're hurt again.”
“Just a cramp,” I lied.
“You always say it is a cramp,” Tasha fired back. “My mom says you used to be the fastest lady on TV before you broke your leg.”
“Your mom watches too much TV.”
I took a sip of water, pointing down the lane. “Go run two warm-down laps and keep your chin tucked.”
Tasha groaned, jogging away toward the far curve.
Three years of coaching kids could not erase the memory of the Olympic trials. I had been America's fastest woman until a collision tore my muscle and my career apart in front of a live audience. The sponsors vanished, the media packed up their cameras and I retreated to this forgotten neighborhood to teach children how to run while ignoring my own failure.
Dave approached from the chain-link fence, clutching a battered clipboard to his chest. The club director looked older than his fifty years and the deep lines around his mouth suggested he brought bad news.
“Good start, Zara,” Dave offered.
“Don't lie to me, Dave,” I replied. “I broke form on the second step.”
Dave stopped in front of me, flipping a page on his clipboard. “The form looked fine from over here. How is the leg feeling?”
“It feels like it belongs to an old woman.”
I stretched my calf, studying his face. “What broke now? If it is the water fountain again, I can grab a wrench from my car.”
“I wish it was the fountain.”
Dave refused to meet my gaze. “The city council made a decision this morning. They are shutting us down in thirty days.”
I stared at him, then looked around the worn facility. “They can't do that. Where will these kids go?”
“They are selling the land to a developer unless we can match the funding,” Dave explained. “We are operating on fumes, Zara. I can't keep the lights on without a miracle.”
“How much do we need?” I asked.
“Two hundred thousand dollars.”
I crossed my arms to stop my hands from shaking. “We can host a bake sale or organize a local race. I'll call some old contacts. Someone will sponsor us.”
“Your old contacts stopped taking your calls three years ago.”
Dave sighed, running a hand over his thinning hair. “It's over.”
“It is not over,” I argued. “Tasha just dropped a full second off her sprint time last week. These kids need this space to stay out of trouble.”
“I know what they need.”
Dave tapped his pen against the clipboard. “But the bank does not care about sprint times.”
“Excuse me.”
A woman's voice interrupted us.
I turned, spotting a stranger standing near the gate. She wore a gray suit that looked out of place among the rusted fences and peeling paint of our track. She held a black folder adorned with a gold seal.
“Can I help you?” I asked.
“I am looking for Zara Cole,” the woman replied.
She walked toward us, extending her free hand. “My name is Ms. Vance. I represent the Global Relay Initiative.”
I ignored her hand. “I don't do interviews.”
“I am not a reporter.”
Ms. Vance lowered her arm, opening the folder. “We are launching a new mixed-gender relay league. The format is designed to test teamwork and pure speed across fifty teams worldwide. The winning squad secures an automatic, direct path to Olympic qualification.”
Dave leaned forward. “Did you say Olympic qualification?”
“I did.”
Ms. Vance held out a thick envelope toward me. “Your past records qualify you for an elite placement. We are offering you a spot on a sponsored team, Miss Cole.”
I stared at the gold seal on the envelope. My hamstring gave another dull throb, reminding me of the damage hiding beneath my skin. I remembered the flash of cameras, the agonizing pain on the stadium floor and the faces of people who turned their backs when I could no longer win medals.
“No,” I replied.
Ms. Vance blinked. “You haven't heard the financial terms. The base salary alone...”
“I said no.”
I stepped back, shaking my head. “I don't race anymore. I coach.”
“This is a second chance,” Ms. Vance pressed. “Most athletes pray for an opportunity like this after an injury.”
“I am not most athletes,” I shot back. “Keep your envelope.”
“Zara, wait,” Dave cautioned. “Think about this. If there is money involved, maybe you could help the club.”
“I can't run at that level, Dave,” I told him. “And I refuse to be a publicity stunt for a new league.”
“You wouldn't be a stunt.”
Ms. Vance took a step closer. “You would be a competitor. We provide top-tier medical support and a guaranteed housing stipend for the duration of the season.”
“I don't care about your stipends,” I warned her. “I am not putting my body through that grinder again just to tear another muscle on national television.”
“Your medical records indicate full structural healing,” Ms. Vance countered. “The barrier you are facing is psychological, Miss Cole.”
“Get off my track,” I snapped.
Dave raised a hand. “Zara, let her finish.”
“She is finished.”
I pointed toward the exit. “Take your gold seals and find some other desperate runner to exploit.”
Ms. Vance placed the folder on top of a nearby plastic barrel, adjusting her blazer. “I will leave the roster and the contract here. The league begins training camp next week. If you change your mind, call the number on the first page.”
She turned, walking back toward the street without waiting for a response.
Dave watched her leave, then picked up the folder. He held it out to me.
“Throw it in the trash,” I instructed.
“Read it first,” Dave urged. “Just look at the numbers before you throw away a chance to save this place.”
“I am not running for them.”
I turned my back to him.
“You owe it to Tasha to at least look at the signing bonus,” Dave challenged. “You just said these kids need this space.”
I closed my eyes, letting out a long breath. The man knew exactly how to manipulate my guilt. I snatched the folder from his hands, ripping open the envelope. The glossy paper inside listed team assignments, training schedules and financial bonuses that could fund the Bronx track club for a decade.
“Fine,” I muttered. “I will read their paper.”
I flipped past the financial summary to the roster page. The words blurred for a second before my eyes focused on the name printed in bold
black letters right below mine.
Ethan Blake.
My lungs seized. I stared at the name of the man who ruined my life, the paper crinkling as my grip tightened…

He thinks I'm weak. That I'll stand by his side in two days, smile for the ceremony, and hand him my loyalty with the Alpha title.
But he's wrong.
I'm not the broken little Luna they think I am. I'm the storm they never saw coming.
The Pack worships him, but only I know the truth buried beneath his perfect lies. So I'll take everything he wants most—the throne, the title, the crown he was born to wear—and win it out from under him, in front of everyone who ever called me unworthy.

Now, we live under the same roof. Three people. One bed too close.

Is he saving me... or does he just want to own me?

I rushed to the restroom, locking myself in, praying the scent wouldn't leak. My hands shook as I dialed for help, but the door handle turned. Reign stood there. He didn't look at my face; he grabbed my wrist, pulling it to his nose, inhaling deeply. His dark, soulless eyes bore into mine. "You smell different," he whispered, his voice dangerously low. If he finds out what I really am, I’m dead.
Reign Montgomery promised himself he’d never get involved with an omega. Not romantically, not physically, not even by accident. He doesn’t trust them, doesn’t want them, and refuses to let anyone become a weakness.
Soren Fox has lived his whole life making sure no one ever learns what he truly is. An omega pretending to be a Beta, fighting in underground rings just to survive and keep his sister alive.

Real Heiress, Hidden Boss
On the engagement day, my fiancé slipped a ring on her finger. My parents handed me a train ticket to oblivion.
They celebrated their victory while I disappeared.
What they didn't realize was that letting me go was the worst mistake of their lives.
I am the surgical prodigy saving lives that science deems hopeless. I am the muse of the art world. I am the true heir to a dynasty they couldn't even dream of.
Now, I am back.

My ex-fiancé kneels in regret. My fake sister chokes on her jealousy. And the CEO who once looked through me? He is now crawling, desperate to taste the success he once threw away.
The joke isn't on me.
It's on them.
