Chapter 1
If there was a river created for people to carry their sorrows away, Tacha's only option wouldn't have been the Lucas lounge.
She walked past her best friend not recognised. Thanks to her shabby blue hair, black rimmed glasses, and her black lace corset that brought up her breasts. Who would have recognised her? Nobody! Nobody would have imagined that was Tacha! She wasn't the Tacha everyone knew to appear in baggy clothes, and covered dresses trying to be mindful of her body and shape.
While some ladies are willing to go under the knife for a bigger butt, Tacha wanted a butt reduction all her life. Where some ladies are looking for breast enlargement oil, Tacha wouldn't mind dedicating her life to slim tea. She was finally at the Lucas lounge and she wasn't feeling it.
The same lounge and bar her best friend happily wasted her money and body every Friday night. The lounge and bar looked like the ones in movies. Hot bachelors, rich kids, strippers, wild girls, and the smell of cigarettes and alcohol everywhere. She wasn't looking odd, thank God for her best friend's dressing inspiration. Rocking her best friend's top and a quick job on her long-time Jean skirt to a mini one made her fit in.
Tacha took a seat across from the barman. "Gordon." She dropped her bag.
"What should I mix it with?"
"I want it straight."
The lean barman whose body was covered with tattoos finally looked up at her. "You don't want me to miss it with anything?" He asked again, his eyes roaming Tacha's face down to her hot body. He wondered if she was that good with alcohol especially with Gordon dry gin. She looked smashing in what she was wearing but lacked confidence. He wondered why she was trying to act up. Her face was completely new to him or else, he wouldn't have gone through so much stress trying to ask her over again. "Are you sure? I can just mix it with a little bit of--"
"Excuse me young man!" Tacha interrupted, obviously annoyed. "Are you not supposed to give me exactly what I ordered? Just one glass of Gordon and I'm being interrogated. Do I look like a minor? Would you rather lose a customer?" She got up, packing her things.
"Oh no! Miss, please take your seat. I'm not trying to underestimate you at all. I'm just wondering if you can really handle the effect of Gordon all alone. I'm right at it." The barman served Tacha's drink immediately, pushing it across to her. Tacha rolled her eyes, hoping the barman would stop casting his gaze at her every second. "They are all the same. Bunch of cheats! Lord of the rings my foot." She murmured to herself, getting irritated by the piercing the bar man had all over his face.
"Excuse me!" The barman turned around, his eyes on Tacha, asking if she had just called him. Tacha moved her eyes away. "I wasn't talking to you." She murmured, sipping her drink little by little. In no time, her eyes were starting to become blurry and distorted. She wasn't good with alcohol, but she planned to get herself completely drunk and forget everything she heard and saw, but her memory was playing jokes on her too. Those familiar voices came back and she could hear their discussion again.
"Ricko when are you planning to break up with her? You can't keep dating her and keep sleeping with me." It was nobody else but her beloved cousin. "When she introduced me to you, I knew that shit ain't true. Tacha, date someone as hot as you with that smelly personality of hers." Her laughter filled the whole room. "I can still remember how she came to meet me. Hannah, guess what? I just met this guy. Oh my God, he's like one of these guys from magazine covers. He really likes me and I like him too." The voice sounded more like Tacha talking. Her cousin laughed as she successfully mimicked her in her voice. "Fool at twenty-six! Like, she knew hot men are sexy, yet she remains like holy Mary she is." She laughed again, with no hint of regret.
The image of how Tacha hurried her hand to cover her mouth to avoid being heard came back to her mind. She was watching herself, enjoying the effect of her drink. Her tears were everywhere but she managed to hold back the sound as she kept on listening to them.
"Let's not talk about her Hannah." The voice Tacha thought was the sweetest knocked down a rain of tears down her face. He had been cheating on her, and he couldn't think of anybody else but her cousin. Her beloved cousin she trusted with all her heart.
"I can't wait for her to announce the breakup to me." She laughed. "She would go back to boyfriend hunting and look for smelly guys like her. Haha!" Her laughter sounded more like jealousy, her voice becoming harsh. "I don't know why God would give out that sexy body to someone like her, acting like an old granny about. Anyways, you are mine, babe. My Ricko for life. The father of my unborn kids." She said. This time, the two of them laughed.
And then, Tacha heard...
"Miss! Miss!"
This wasn't from her memory. She turned, and it was the barman right in front of her. "Haha!" The barman laughed at her. "You've finally joined the breakfast gang!"
His face came closer to her. "Who's that fool that dumped you nigress! Shit! He must be crazy cause mhen! I ain't leaving that ass behind you for anyone else. So if he did, get up and rock that on a nigga who will appreciate it. You deserve to shake your ass tonight! A middle finger for the loser! Fuck him! Whosoever she is, she said well. You are damn sexy!"
"Miss! Miss!"
She was back to where she was, turning to see the barman who looked really concerned. If she thought he appeared earlier, she was starting to lose it. She stared at the tattooed guy whose hand waved across her face. "Are you okay?"
"You think I'm sexy?"
Her imagination was playing some tricks on her but she believed.
The barman whose eyes stayed on her for a while made Tacha realise she had asked the wrong question. The barman wasn't expecting that though. He could tell she looked sober and was completely drunk. But suddenly, Tacha saw the bar man smiled at her. "You know what miss, if I'm gonna be completely honest with you, you've got the whole world behind you. And no man would say no to watching that booty bounce. Rema is fucking right with that song."
"Really." Tacha who looked sober had a little smile on her face. Was she out of her mind? Yes. She was beginning to. But it was as if she needed those words to accept the remaining self-confidence she had left. She looked drunk and dumb with the silly smile that appeared on her face. She stood to her feet, but staggered a little, maintaining her balance quickly. She smiled as the barman tried to help her. "I'm fine. I think I would like somebody's son to grab the whole world to himself tonight."
"whawooooo!" The barman exclaimed at his loss. He licked his lips as he admired Tacha's body, but encouraged her to go have fun. He looked at her. "Tiwa savage sang that song just for you," he said, unable to stop the grin that immediately appeared on his face.
Tacha smiled genuinely, so happy. She needed to show Ricko that he lost her for good. Today, she was going to make another man lucky to have her. Immediately, Tacha threw the barman a wink in appreciation.
"Yes! I found him." Tacha laughed, admiring the gentleman who was definitely someone's dream. She grinned, and the barman thought her smile was the cutest. He thought she looked beautiful and a bit naive. Tacha admired the dark guy who looked so hot from afar. Not so bad, she told herself. Her vision looked blurry still. He was too far away for Tacha to make out his features. But one thing was certain to her, this guy was her spec. Definitely tall, dark skin glowing, commanding hell with the flame surrounding his hot figure. Burn me, baby. Tacha bit her lower lip. She approached him with her weak legs. Halfway close to him, he suddenly stood up as if he knew someone was checking him out. Tacha blushed, intoxicated by the admiration she had for the guy already. 'Whao! Does he know I'm approaching him or what?'
Tacha noticed his full height and realised how tall and huge he was. Intimidating the men around him with the aura he possessed that every man or woman could be drawn to. Just like the guys she always dreamed of. The ones on the magazine covers. They would definitely be the death of her. Tacha could barely control her arousal for the guy she couldn't take her eyes off. She turned around and fanned herself with her two hands. She turned back and slowly approached him.
Tacha got to him. The two stared at each other, their eyes burning into one another. His face was saying otherwise. It wasn't smiling at all. Hard as a rock. The look was probably telling her he could get her thrown out if she didn't get the hell out of his sight. Tacha wasn't going to accept the rejection yet. She had an experience already, and she doesn't like it. She moved closer to him. Her head reached his hard chest as she wrapped one of her hands around his neck. Her eyes burned with lust into his. The two stared at each other without words, but the spot they stood was creating so much heat that each body was consumed by it, almost losing their composure.
Who cares about what's going on with any couple in Lucas's lounge?
Nobody!
Some of them even like watching. Tacha staggered, and for one reason she loved it. The dark guy held her by her hand and shielded her. His smell getting her insane. It was stronger than her glass of alcohol, putting her in a drunken display as she smelled him even more. 'Gosh, he's handsome, he's tall, he smells nice too. Jeez!' Tacha laughed. "Shit! Boy, I can't control myself. You are damn tall and sexy. I feel intimidated by your look though." She said in a whisper, their eyes staring at each other the whole time. "I want you to have my ass all to yourself tonight." Her voice was calm, eyeing him with the corner of her eye. Then she pointed towards the barman, laughing. "He said I have the whole world behind me. I know he's trying to make me feel good about my body you know." Then she looked up at him. "I want to make you happy. Did your girlfriend also cheat on you like mine?" She said but got no reply to any of it.
Tacha moved even closer, then turned around. She bent down to his trousers and rubbed herself against him hard. In no time, she felt his hard erection behind her. The guy stood there right behind her while she kept on grinding against him. A little moan escaped her mouth, but suddenly, she was grabbed by the same hand which held her earlier. She was facing him with a shocked expression on her face. His hand gripped her tightly. His eyes were completely angry. "Old lady, what the fuck...do you think you are doing?" His voice was heaven, beautiful, so manly and sexy, but at the same time sent chills down Tacha's body. She was scared for a moment. If she was drunk and thought she didn't know what she was doing, then she had been scammed because at this junction, her eyes were wide open! Seeing all the daggers shooting from the guy's eyes. She was completely embarrassed. This guy looks pissed! He just called her an old lady. She refused to believe her ears.
There came a long whistle, stopping next to them. "What an ass you've got babe. And that front view."
Their heads turned to the guy who commented on Tacha's body. Whoever the guy was, Tacha would be forever grateful. She was instantly released, feeling little pain where the guy held her.
"Nathan what's going on here?" The guy asked, but Nathan was busy staring down at Tacha for the level of disrespect she had just given him. He scoffed at the combination of her dressing, her shabby old-looking wig, cheap glasses, and grinding him in her dirty old skirt. He was totally angry that she thought he was one of those guys who accepts any type of woman to touch him talkless of getting intimate with him. He was not just angry at that but for having to come down and wait for his friend. He dusted his trousers, as if dusting her remains from his body.
Tacha covered her face in embarrassment ready to cry, finally over the effect of what she had taken. "I'm..I..I'm very...very sorry please." She stammered, but eventually apologised. "I--"
Nathan remained quiet instead, watching Tacha shamelessly plead for forgiveness.
"Nathan!" The other guy called after noticing Tacha was almost in tears. "Please say something."
Tacha trying not to cry, lifted her face before bringing it back down. She managed to smile at the other guy, grateful for having someone she could look at before getting the hell out of where she was. Dipping her hand into her bag, Tacha brought out her company's card which had her contact on it. It was one of those she personally made to invite people to partner at where she worked or buy their products to resell if they have an interest. She brought it forward to the other guy. "Please I would really like to ask for his forgiveness. I'm sincerely sorry and I know this won't be enough," she said. If Nathan had thought she was a slut, she would have had to correct that part by having a quick time to apologise another day. "Here is my contact." She handed it over to the guy.
Well, Nathan wasn't having it. He wanted the slut to get out of his sight. He couldn't understand how he suddenly became hard by this cheap thing in front of him. A devilish grin appeared on his face realizing such a poor girl could turn him on. It was obvious that she was poor. He hated it, he hated her for putting him in such a situation. He looked at Tacha and wondered what a high level of disrespect was to stand before him and rocked herself on him. Nathan watched Tacha's face soaked with tears and he thought it was another pretence any woman could come up with. He wasn't moved and just watched her before rolling his eyes, lifting his glass of beer sitting before him. "Eric meet me when you are done with her." Then he looked at Tacha. "How did you manage to enter anyway. Next time, look for someone in your category. It's a shame to think I'm as cheap as you. You're gonna have to pay for the embarrassment you caused me."
Tacha's face took a drastic change of pain and regret. She turned over her shoulder and saw different eyes staring secretly at her. She turned to the only person she thought she knew and tried to make eye contact with the barman. His mouth moved and Tacha thought she heard him mutter, " Shit! shaking his head at her and immediately hiding his face in fear. No one needed to tell her before knowing she picked the wrong man. She interpreted all the looks Nathan gave her. Anger combined with dirty looks. She saw the disgusted look he threw at her. Like, where the hell did she come from? Whoever Nathan was that gave him so much pride, Tacha doesn't want to know. Finally, she accepted that her cousin may be right. Men like Ricko, and Nathan, can never like her. Now, she hated her body even more, and her insecurities became very high. Nothing could ever make her as beautiful as she desired to be. Another rejection telling her she wasn't good enough for these men.

My stomach twisted, but he wasn’t finished.
"You're just a pathetic little human," Zayn said, his words deliberate, each one hitting like a slap. "Spreading your legs for the first guy who bothers to notice you."
Heat rushed to my face, burning with humiliation. My chest ached — not from his words alone, but from the sick realization that I had trusted him. That I had let myself believe he was different.
I was so, so stupid.

"Don't you know," Julian chuckled into the receiver, "that a proper ex-boyfriend should be as quiet as the dead?"
George seethed through gritted teeth: "Put her on the phone!"
"I'm afraid that's impossible."
Julian dropped a gentle kiss on my sleeping form nestled against him. "She's exhausted. She just fell asleep."
