The Deaf She-wolf: Kaya
Ariel Eyre · Completed · 202.0k Words
Introduction
"What, she can't be deaf. I have never heard of a deaf wolf. It is impossible."
"I am serious. She had an accident when she was six. She didn't have her wolf then, and it couldn't heal, resulting in hearing loss."
She smiled. Her smile could have knocked me over. It was something I would want to see as often as I could. "Can you hear me?" She just shook her head.
How on earth would I communicate with her if she couldn't talk? If I marked her, I could mind-link. I could mark her here and now. It is my right, after all. But she may not like that.
I had to wonder if her being deaf, though, would be okay. If I marked her, she would be Luna to my pack. She would need to be strong. I had no idea if losing her hearing made her weak. As much as I wanted to claim her on the spot, I would need to know that she could hold her own. Or, at the very least, could be taught to fight.
---------Kaya
When I pressured my brother to take me down to the southern territory I just wanted to experience the way the rest of the world lived. Growing up in the north is brutal and we survive off the land. But I never expected to meet my mate and from a southern pack made it all the more difficult. His values differed from my own. The way his pack lived was the opposite of how I was raised. The brutality of my life would lead me to make decisions that put the Shadow Pack in jeopardy. With my mate Cade and our differences we would be tossed into a battle that had been waged long ago.
Chapter 1
Kaya
I am walking on the ice. My mother is shouting, telling me not to go too far into the inlet. I just wanted to explore. I wanted to see the whales that come into the bay sometimes. I hear the ice creek beneath my wooly boots.
After a few minutes, I finally see the whales in the bay. I move closer. I love seeing them hunt. I hear my mother yet again calling for me. I turn to face her and tell her just a few more minutes. But as I turn, I hear the ice begin to shriek.
All of a sudden, I feel the water swallowing me. My body is being stabbed by thousands of needles. And I twist and contort under the ice. My adrenalin is coursing through my tiny body. I need to get out from under the ice.
I stop resisting. Please let this work, I think to myself. I let the current take me out further. I look up and see it is working; I am out beneath the ice shelf after a few moments. I try to brace myself. I know better than to fight against the current. But if I don't surface soon, I will drown.
I kick as hard as my little legs would allow. I can feel my clothes are heavy and pulling me down. I don't have time to undress. I have been under the water too long. I kick harder, and then I break through the surface.
Finally, I can breathe. I had made it out from the current. I look around. What can I grab? I need to get out of the water; my next challenge is not freezing to death. I see the ice shelf. It is not too far, I think. I can make it. But will it hold me? Will I fall in again?
I couldn't think like that. It was my best option; after all, it was that or die in the water. I began to swim for the shelf. Despite moving slowly and being weighed down, I made it. I hoisted my soaking wet body up, slipping a few times.
Once on top of the ice, I laid back and took a deep breath, filling my lungs with much-needed air. How had I done that? I didn't have time to ponder. I needed to keep moving; I needed to get warm. I was still at risk of dying. I crawled as fast as I could across the ice. I heard the ice begin to creek again.
No, I wouldn't let the sea swallow me again. I stopped and let the ice quiet. Then, I began to creep slowly. It howled; it was going to give away again. I stood up and ran. The ice started to break behind me, but I kept running. I ran as fast as my soaking body would allow.
I finally reached my mother, who was now kneeling, crying. She looked up and opened her arms. I collapsed as I embraced her. The next thing I know, I am being shaken. I close my eyes and open them, and I am in a foreign room.
"Kaya, it is time to get up. We have stuff to do." My brother's mind links me. I was having the dream again. The dream of the day my life changed forever. Again, my brother mind links me."Kaya come on let's go. You were the one who wanted to come down south with me, so get up."
It was true I had wanted to come down south with him. Most people wouldn't call this place southern, but to us, it was. The days here had both night and day all year round, which was the south to me. It was true; I wanted to see what was past our home.
I had never been, unlike my brother. He had tagged along with my father when he made the trips, but now, he would make them alone yearly. I had wanted to tag along this year, and I convinced my brother to let me go.
It was rare for women to leave the pack. Even to find their mates, the women remained put. The custom among the northern packs was that the young men go out and search for their mates. The women stayed put and waited. I didn't want to stay put, though. I wanted to see the outside world at least once. I had told my brother to let me come. Initially, He was hesitant, but he never could say no to me. So, like a thief in the night, we left. When our parents realized we had gone, it was too late to have us return.
As we got in the car, my brother looked at me. He minds linked. "We have a full day of driving. We will stop before we arrive, get dressed for the evening, and then head to Nightshade Pack. "I just nod. We drive most of the day, stopping only for food and bathroom breaks. We finally pulled into a hotel. After checking in, we head to the room. My brother let me have the shower first. It was weird having hot running water so readily available.
I was used to boiling the water, letting it cool, and then scrubbing myself clean. Followed by a nice steam in the homemade sauna that sat on the edge of our small encampment. I bathed fast using the soap that was provided for me in the hotel. It smelled strong, and in truth, I hated it. I tried to scrub off the scent, but it still lingered. I exited the bathroom, allowing my brother a chance to get ready.
I took time to put on my dress. It was my best one. We used dresses like this for ceremonies, and I had made mine with my mother. I looked in the mirror at my appearance. I loved the way my tattoo sat high on my forehead. It was a line that came down to a point and then scooped back up. There were small dashes below the line. In all truth, it looked as though I wore a crown.
My buckskin dress had some embroidery on it. It had taken a long time to stitch the patterns on the dress. I slide on my pants that went underneath the gown. I looked pretty, I thought. I sat on one of the beds and waited for Quill to be done. I tried to wonder what the night would be like. I knew the southern packs were much different than us northers, but I wondered just how different.
It didn't take long, and Quill was ready to go. We went downstairs and received a few looks as we exited the lobby. I knew they were staring at the way we dressed. It wasn't every day people saw attire like ours.
We drove for about 45 minutes. Then Quill pulled off the main road onto a dirt one. I could hardly stand it. Quill pulled over and parked the car. I mind-linked him."Where is the party?" "It is just down the path."
I practically ripped the door away from the truck. My brother led me up the walkway and approached a huge house. It was made of stone, and it was massive. I saw people going in. They are wearing beautiful gowns and suits. The fabric looked so different from ours.
The women all had their hair done in different styles. Their faces were all painted up. Some wore the most revealing clothing I had ever seen. I could see one girl's whole back. How did she move? I wondered how it did not fall off.
We walk up to the door and are greeted by two smiling faces. "Hey, Quill, it is good of you to come. Who is this? Is this your mate?"I smile at the remark. I look at Quill. I know he is explaining that I am his sister and telling them I am deaf.

After the Affair: Falling into a Billionaire's Arms
From first crush to wedding vows, George Capulet and I had been inseparable. But in our seventh year of marriage, he began an affair with his secretary.
On my birthday, he took her on vacation. On our anniversary, he brought her to our home and made love to her in our bed...
Heartbroken, I tricked him into signing divorce papers.
George remained unconcerned, convinced I would never leave him.
His deceptions continued until the day the divorce was finalized. I threw the papers in his face: "George Capulet, from this moment on, get out of my life!"
Only then did panic flood his eyes as he begged me to stay.
When his calls bombarded my phone later that night, it wasn't me who answered, but my new boyfriend Julian.
"Don't you know," Julian chuckled into the receiver, "that a proper ex-boyfriend should be as quiet as the dead?"
George seethed through gritted teeth: "Put her on the phone!"
"I'm afraid that's impossible."
Julian dropped a gentle kiss on my sleeping form nestled against him. "She's exhausted. She just fell asleep."

The Pack: Rule Number 1 - No Mates
"Let me go," I whimper, my body trembling with need. "I don't want you touching me."
I fall forward onto the bed then turn around to stare at him. The dark tattoos of Domonic's chiseled shoulders, quiver and and expand with the heave of his chest. His deep dimpled smile is full of arrogance as he reaches behind himself to lock the door.
Biting his lip, he stalks toward me, his hand going to the seam of his pants and the thickening bulge there.
"Are you sure you don't want me to touch you?" He whispers, untying the knot and slipping a hand inside. "Because I swear to God, that is all I have been wanting to do. Every single day from the moment you stepped in our bar and I smelled your perfect flavor from across the room."
New to the world of shifters, Draven is human on the run. A beautiful girl who no one could protect. Domonic is the cold Alpha of the Red Wolf Pack. A brotherhood of twelve wolves that live by twelve rules. Rules which they vowed could NEVER be broken.

But she doesn’t know about the child she’s carrying or that the moment she left, Domonic decided rules were made to be broken - and now will he ever find her again? Will she forgive him?
The War God Alpha's Arranged Bride
Yet Alexander made his decision clear to the world: “Evelyn is the only woman I will ever marry.”
I Slapped My Fiancé—Then Married His Billionaire Nemesis
Technically, Rhys Granger was my fiancé now—billionaire, devastatingly hot, and a walking Wall Street wet dream. My parents shoved me into the engagement after Catherine disappeared, and honestly? I didn’t mind. I’d crushed on Rhys for years. This was my chance, right? My turn to be the chosen one?
Wrong.
One night, he slapped me. Over a mug. A stupid, chipped, ugly mug my sister gave him years ago. That’s when it hit me—he didn’t love me. He didn’t even see me. I was just a warm-bodied placeholder for the woman he actually wanted. And apparently, I wasn’t even worth as much as a glorified coffee cup.
So I slapped him right back, dumped his ass, and prepared for disaster—my parents losing their minds, Rhys throwing a billionaire tantrum, his terrifying family plotting my untimely demise.
Obviously, I needed alcohol. A lot of alcohol.
Enter him.
Tall, dangerous, unfairly hot. The kind of man who makes you want to sin just by existing. I’d met him only once before, and that night, he just happened to be at the same bar as my drunk, self-pitying self. So I did the only logical thing: I dragged him into a hotel room and ripped off his clothes.
It was reckless. It was stupid. It was completely ill-advised.
But it was also: Best. Sex. Of. My. Life.
And, as it turned out, the best decision I’d ever made.
Because my one-night stand isn’t just some random guy. He’s richer than Rhys, more powerful than my entire family, and definitely more dangerous than I should be playing with.
And now, he’s not letting me go.
Oops, Wrong Girl to Bully
My back hit the desk. Pain exploded through my skull.
"Girls like you don't get to dream about guys like Kai." Bella's breath was hot on my face. "You don't get to write pathetic love letters."
She shoved me again. Harder.
"Maybe if you weren't such a desperate little—"
I fell. My head cracked against the corner.
Warmth trickled down my neck. Blood.
Their laughter turned to gasps.
The door slammed.
I tried to stand. Couldn't. The room was spinning, fading to black.
Someone... please...
Angelina, the most powerful Alpha who conquered forty-nine packs, dies in a yacht explosion—only to wake up as Aria Sterling, a fifteen-year-old Omega's daughter who just died from bullying.
The original Aria's life was a nightmare. Humiliated when golden boy Kai Matthews posted her love letter online, then shoved to death by his girlfriend Bella Morrison. But that's not all her family faces:
"You got until Monday," the tattooed gangster sneered at Aria's mother. "Ten grand cash. Or I'm taking collateral—your kids' organs fetch top dollar. That pretty daughter of yours? She could make us money another way too."
Now Angelina's lethal combat skills awaken in this fragile body. No more hiding. No more fear.
Armed with an Alpha's ruthlessness and a mysterious blood-red pendant, she'll dismantle everyone who hurt this family—one calculated move at a time.
The Biker Alpha Who Became My Second Chance Mate
"You're like a sister to me."
Those were the actual words that broke the camel's back.
Not after what just happened. Not after the hot, breathless, soul-shaking night we spent tangled in each other's arms.
I knew from the beginning that Tristan Hayes was a line I shouldn't cross.
He wasn't just anyone, he was my brother's best friend. The man I spent years secretly wanting.
But that night... we were broken. We had just buried our parents. And the grief was too heavy, too real...so I begged him to touch me.
To make me forget. To fill the silence that death left behind.
And he did. He held me like I was something fragile.
Kissed me like I was the only thing he needed to breathe.
Then left me bleeding with six words that burned deeper than rejection ever could.
So, I ran. Away from everything that cost me pain.
Now, five years later, I'm back.
Fresh from rejecting the mate who abused me. Still carrying the scars of a pup I never got to hold.
And the man waiting for me at the airport isn't my brother.
It's Tristan.
And he's not the guy I left behind.
He's a biker.
An Alpha.
And when he looked at me, I knew there was no where else to run to.
Balance of Light and Shadow
Little did she know how much both worlds need her to bring peace and true freedom.
My Possessive Alpha Twins For Mate
My drunk stepfather remained indifferent, his weight suffocating, making it hard to breathe as my heart raced.
Suddenly, the door slammed open, and two figures burst in.
"Get off her!" a deafening roar echoed.
I didn't expect the twin brothers who'd bullied me at school to come charging in like gods to save me.
After my grandmother passed, I had to move in with my mom and stepdad, who treated me like a servant. I prayed every day for my 18th birthday to come, so l could leave and escape this broken home.
However, on my first day at my new school, l encountered the legendary twins everyone feared.
To make matters worse, the Moon Goddess revealed they were both my mates!
After helping me out with my stepdad, my twin mate cornered me, played with my hair, and whispered possessively, "You belong to us, our little mate..."
