The Girl Who Couldn't Shift
Irene Vale · Ongoing · 61.7k Words
Introduction
Her adoptive parents revealed a shocking truth: she was a Shifter. To survive the dangers looming on the horizon, she had to enroll in the academy and unlock her hidden potential.
But from the moment she arrived, she realized she didn't belong.
Every student possessed a unique shifting form and extraordinary abilities. Mia, however, couldn't even perform the most basic transformation.
There, she met Draven, the last living dragon in the world.
As she grew closer to him, it seemed as though the entire academy turned against her.
The truth behind the war that changed the magical world may be far darker than she ever imagined.
And the only person she can truly trust is the very dragon everyone else fears and hates.
What she never expected was that Draven's instinct to protect her, and his possessiveness, would be far stronger than anything she was prepared for.
Chapter 1
Mia's POV
Today is my 18th birthday. When I woke up this morning, I had no idea my life was about to change.
I was just like any other birthday. I couldn't wait to run downstairs to see my birthday cake and presents.
I rushed down happily and found a bunch of balloons floating from the living room ceiling.
My mom, her curly hair a total mess, pulled me into a hug. "Happy birthday, Mia. The supermarket owner gave me these balloons. They're a bit old, but they still look fine."
On the dining table sat a birthday cake decorated with strawberries.
My dad, a chubby middle-aged man, grinned at me. "Happy birthday, Mia! Come check out the cake I made you!"
Dad works as a cook at a restaurant and he's really good at it, but baking cakes clearly isn't his thing.
The writing on the cake was a little crooked, but I was sure it would taste great.
Mom stuck the candles in and told me to sit down and make a wish.
My wishes were simple. I hoped to get the college acceptance letter I'd been dreaming about, and maybe a new bicycle as a birthday gift this year.
When I opened my eyes and blew out the candles, Mom and Dad placed the gifts they'd already prepared in front of me.
A new backpack and a box of liqueur chocolates.
Not exactly what I'd wished for, but that was okay. I'm pretty good at cheering myself up.
But then, out of nowhere, my parents' faces turned serious.
Mom said, "Today you turn 18, and there's something we need to tell you."
She glanced at Dad, who gave her an encouraging look. She took a deep breath and continued, "We're not actually your birth parents. You're a shifter. You were left on our doorstep when you were a baby, and we found a letter in your blanket."
"There was money inside, enough to cover your living expenses until you turned 18. The letter also said that once you came of age, you'd need to attend a magic academy. That's the only way to awaken your abilities and keep you safe."
I was so shocked I could barely speak. "Are you serious right now? Magic? Shifter? I'm just a normal girl!"
Seeing how upset I was, Dad quickly tried to calm me down. "At first we thought it was a prank too, but after we finished reading the letter, it burst into flames on its own. And this morning, we received this."
Dad pulled out a beautiful blue envelope covered in elegant cursive writing.
The strange thing was, the moment I touched it, the envelope floated up into the air. Letters drifted out one by one, forming lines of text right before my eyes, every word glowing in gold.
It was signed by Aetherland Magic Academy. It was an acceptance letter!
I was stunned. "I got into a magic academy? I never even applied!"
Mom said, "Your birth parents applied on your behalf. Shifters are registered at birth and are required to attend a magic academy once they come of age. Your birth parents paid the tuition when you were born."
Even after hearing all of this, I still felt like I was in a daze.
Sure, our house was small and we didn't have much, but my parents had always been good to me. It had never once crossed my mind that they weren't my real parents.
And I definitely never imagined I could be a shifter.
"Am I a wolf? A fox? Something else? And where are my birth parents? Why did they give me up?"
My head was spinning with questions that needed answers.
Mom and Dad shook their heads. "We don't know."
Mom said, "You're a very rare kind of shifter. Even your birth parents didn't know what form you'd take. But they must have done this to keep you safe. Once you get to the magic academy, everything will become clear."
So it was settled. I was going to the magic academy.
I packed my things, and my parents drove me to the edge of the city, where a massive castle estate stood.
After they left, I walked toward the estate alone.
Tall trees surrounded the path, their canopies blocking out the sky. But as I got closer, the trees began to pull back, clearing a smooth path that led straight to the estate's entrance.
There was no sign at the gate. The iron doors were covered in metal vines and elegant, strange creatures, all forming a symbol I couldn't read, the same symbol as the one on my acceptance letter.
But there was no handle. No keyhole. How was I supposed to get in?
Just as my hand was about to touch the gate, the tightly wound metal vines slowly pulled apart, and the gate creaked open on its own.
I was blown away. So this was Aetherland Magic Academy. Life here was going to be something else.
Then I heard someone shout, "Get out of the way!"
An ice blade came flying straight at me. I had no time to react. I just stood there, frozen like a statue.
'This is it. I'm dead.'
I could already picture my tombstone: Died on her 18th birthday.
But the pain never came. A girl suddenly stepped in front of me, and a pair of massive wings burst from her back, wrapping around us both.
When the wings folded back in, the ice blade lay shattered on the ground.
She had wings. Wings as hard as a shield.
I was completely speechless. It was the first time I'd ever seen real magic happen right in front of me.
The girl looked at me with concern. "Are you okay?"
I nodded slowly. "Thank you. I'm Mia Davis. I'm a new student checking in today."
She had brown curly hair and gave me a warm smile. "I'm Lyra Aquila. My form is an eagle. What about you?"
I felt a little awkward. "I actually don't know my form yet."
Lyra looked surprised. "It's pretty rare for someone to still not know their form after coming of age. I'd guess you're a wolf — they're the most common shifters at the academy. You know how it is, they always show up in packs."
A mocking laugh came from nearby. "A shifter who's never shifted. No wonder she couldn't dodge something that basic."
I looked toward the voice. A boy with slick black hair was staring at me with open contempt and disdain.
Lyra leaned over. "That's Liam Snake. His form is a snake. He's the most insufferable person in this entire academy."
Then she turned and called out to him, "That was a stupid thing to do, Liam. You could have seriously hurt the new student!"
"Aw, poor Lyra finally found herself a country bumpkin friend," Liam said with a smirk.
I frowned. Lyra was right. He was seriously annoying.
"You owe us an apology," I said.
Liam kept that same smug smile on his face. "And what if I don't?"

The Alpha's Stripper Mate
"What?" It was out of my mouth before I could stop it. I did not wait for him to answer me, I walked toward him.
"Dance on my lap."
My head screamed at me to turn around and run. But my whole body responded to his command.
"Yes, Alpha," I pulled my dress over my body, it dropped over my head and fell to the ground behind me. I was left in nothing but my matching bra and thong. My hands covered my chest on reflex.
"Let me see."
My hands dropped to my sides.
I lowered myself into his lap, facing him. His eyes peered into mine, and I could feel his hot breath fan my face. His dick responded to all my moves, hardening against my now-moist vagina. I swallowed hard, allowing my lips to part in a ragged breath. His hands trailed up to my waist.
"No touching."

Accardi
“I thought you said you were done chasing me?” Gen mocked.
“I am done chasing you.”
Before she could formulate a witty remark, Matteo threw her down. She landed hard on her back atop his dining room table. She tried to sit up when she noticed what he was doing. His hands were working on his belt. It came free of his pants with a violent yank. She collapsed back on her elbows, her mouth gaping open at the display. His face was a mask of sheer determination, his eyes were a dark gold swimming with heat and desire. His hands wrapped around her thighs and pulled her to the edge of the table. He glided his fingers up her thighs and hooked several around the inside of her panties. His knuckles brushed her dripping sex.
“You’re soaking wet, Genevieve. Tell me, was it me that made you this way or him?” his voice told her to be careful with her answer. His knuckles slid down through her folds and she threw her head back as she moaned. “Weakness?”
“You…” she breathed.

How Not To Fall For A Dragon
Which is why it was more than a little confusing when a letter arrived with my name already printed on a schedule, a dorm waiting, and classes picked out as if someone knew me better than I knew myself. Everyone knows the Academy, it’s where witches sharpen their spells, shifters master their forms, and every kind of magical creature learns to control their gifts.
Everyone except me.
I don’t even know what I am. No shifting, no magic tricks, nothing. Just a girl surrounded by people who can fly, conjure fire, or heal with a touch. So I sit through classes pretending I belong, and I listen hard for any clue that might tell me what’s hidden in my blood.
The only person more curious than me is Blake Nyvas, tall, golden-eyed, and very much a Dragon. People whisper that he’s dangerous, warn me to keep my distance. But Blake seems determined to solve the mystery of me, and somehow I trust him more than anyone else.
Maybe it’s reckless. Maybe it’s dangerous.
But when everyone else looks at me like I don’t belong, Blake looks at me like I’m a riddle worth solving.

Ruined : You will always be mine.
“Fuckkk”, I couldn’t help but scream.
“You need to learn to be obedient” he said as he kept thrusting into me. When I felt his hands on my clit my body shook.
“Asher please, it’s too much”.
“No. if I really wanted to punish you, I would give you all of me”, he said against my ears and my entire body froze. Suddenly he moved and I was standing again. This man was insane.
I felt him behind me. “Ten Lashes for your disobedience”, he said
“Asher please”,
“No”. His voice was cold and void of any emotion.

Asher and Dorling Sterling one and the same. When his first love shows up and along with everyone that has set out to ruin me, I prayed that he could protect me.
COLD (Ruthless Player)
“Please… Nick, wait.” He pulled out, thrusted back in. “How much? Twenty thousand? Fifty? Hundred?” With every question, he thrust harder and harder. My neurons are frying with the confusing feeling in my brain. Torn between pleasure, fear, and panic. I couldn't utter a single sentence to save my life.
His cold eyes pinned me in place while he plundered my body with deep thrusts, which only added to my confusion. My dumb body mistook the mixed signals, my pussy becoming even wetter than before.
“I hope she'd paid you well, because I'm going to fuck you all night long, hard,” he growled. “Sleep, then do it all over again. I want to feel you come for me, Andrea, want to feel you squeeze my cock, milking me.
Begging for me to give you the high only I can, I'm going to fucked you until I fuck all my wife's money's worth, I want you to remember how hard I took you while you're meeting her.” I sobbed, moaned, and tried to scramble out under him.
“No, please…Nick, let….let me explain.” Nick abruptly pulled out. His eyes were cold but hooded.
Andrea was sent to take down billionaire magnate Nicklaus Montgomery.

Taming Her Playboy Bully
To protect what’s mine
Vengeance of the Forsaken Luna
"Bella." Ethan's tone shifted, taking on that warning edge I knew too well. "Faye is vulnerable right now. She's terrified you'll resent her, that this will divide the pack. The last thing she wants is for this baby to come between us."
"Then you shouldn't have done it." I met his eyes squarely, letting him see the ice in mine. "Go back to your son."
"For fuck's sake." He dragged a hand through his hair. "How many times—it was artificial insemination. They used my sperm, yes, but Faye and I never—"
Bella let out a cold snort. Such brazen lies. Her mate had an affair with his brother's partner, and his entire family helped force her out with nothing, all to make way for the mistress to take her rightful position. Poor fool—he thought she was just an unwanted adopted daughter, easy to dismiss and control. He never knew the computer genius he'd been searching for was his own Luna.
Since he'd tainted himself, Bella was done. She rejected him and reclaimed what was hers, rising to the top with help from Victor, who'd been secretly in love with her for years.
When Ethan tried winning her back: "You don't want our child growing up fatherless."
Bella smiled mockingly. "The child's father isn't you."

Heartbroken, Sable discovered Darrell having sex with his ex in their bed, while secretly transferring hundreds of thousands to support that woman.
Even worse was overhearing Darrell laugh to his friends: "She's useful—obedient, doesn't cause trouble, handles housework, and I can fuck her whenever I need relief. She's basically a live-in maid with benefits." He made crude thrusting gestures, sending his friends into laughter.
In despair, Sable left, reclaimed her true identity, and married her childhood neighbor—Lycan King Caelan, nine years her senior and her fated mate. Now Darrell desperately tries to win her back. How will her revenge unfold?
From substitute to queen—her revenge has just begun!

I rushed forward. “Amara. Stop traumatizing these poor people.”
She spun around, delighted. “Sera! Good, you’re here. Taste this. It’s missing despair.”
The chef’s face morphed into existential crisis.
I grabbed her arm. “Put the spatula down.”
“But—”
“Down.”
With exaggerated offense, she dropped the spatula and muttered, “Fine. But if no one here has artistic vision, that’s not my fault.”
