Chapter 1
Isla’s P.O.V
My name is Luna Isla, and I am a hybrid werewolf witch.
The day that I found out that I was a witch was the day that changed my life, it has not been an easy journey, but I have my mate, Alpha Aaron, and one heck of a strong and very supportive pack, I am very lucky. Not everyone knows about my powers and that is fine by me since I am still getting used to them myself.
The main problem is Aaron’s family hates witches since Aaron’s mother was killed by one when he was a young pup.
We can’t reveal my witch side because Aaron is afraid that he will lose me and his alpha status. His father and brother would force him to choose, and I could not bear to lose my mate after everything I have already been through.
Aaron tries so hard to help me learn to control my powers but getting upset and angry seems to trigger them off and it can be hard for me to calm them down, as I said I am still learning.
It had been a long day and I could not wait to get into a nice hot bath and relax. Aaron was finishing off some paperwork when the phone rang so I picked it up and was surprised to hear Samuel on the other end. He was a friend from a neighboring pack.
“Isla? Is that you?” He spoke. He sounded quite panicked.
I smiled thinking he must be expecting Aaron to answer the phone since he was the alpha and usually dealt with all of that anyway.
“Yes, of course, it is me, is everything ok?” I asked, smiling as I caught Aaron gazing at me and licking his lips hungrily. I rolled my eyes at him and could not help but beam happily.
I was so lucky to have such a loving mate that adored me. He treated me like a princess.
“Do you mind putting Alpha Aaron on the phone for a moment please?” He spoke. “It is very important.”
I frowned and wondered what could be so important that he could not just tell me himself.
“Samuel, tell me. I am the Luna after all.” I could not help but feel irritated.
What could he possibly have to say that could not go through me first?
“Look, Isla, I am sorry to break the news to you, but it is your sister. Cora is dead. She was killed by rogues. Pembroke was destroyed. Miller is also gone. The whole pack is destroyed. Nobody survived.”
I held the phone away from my ear trying to make sense of what was being told to me.
“You’re lying. I will rip your head off you sick fool. How dare you tell such disgusting lies.” I exclaimed as tears brimmed my eyes and started to fall on my cheeks.
“Isla, please believe me this is not a sick prank. We will send a car to collect you and Alpha Aaron, but I will warn you, it is not a pretty sight.”
I gripped the phone in my hands and launched it across the wall just missing the top of Aaron’s head.
He was gobsmacked.
“Isla?” He leaped up and rushed to me. “Please calm down. You know what will happen if you get upset or stressed out. We cannot let anyone know.” He spoke.
I wasn’t listening to him drone on.
My brain closed off.
My heart sank and I felt my knees go weak and give way.
My body trembled as sobs took over me.
A horrible loud ear piercing scream came out of my mouth.
I was aware of Aaron suddenly pulling me into his lap and holding me close to his chest.
“Isla. What is it, my love?” He exclaimed.
“I need to go back to Pembroke.” I was shaking so much that I felt sick.
“Pembroke, but why?” He looked confused and worried. “You haven’t been back there in a long time.”
“I need to go, let me go,” I murmured as Aaron held my hands in his and leaned forward to kiss my forehead.
“Isla, I am here for you. I always will be. Tell me what has happened?” He kissed me again. Being close to him made me feel a little comfort but the news hit me harder than anything ever had before in my life. My Wolf, Cleo was whining sadly.
I could not say the words, I did not want to hear it because that would mean I was admitting it was true. I wanted to believe it was just a prank, a huge mistake even. There was no way. No way that Pembroke was gone. My sister could not be dead for real.
“Isla, talk to me.” He begged me.
“I need a minute,” I said and he nodded to show that he understood, he let me go.
“I will be here waiting.” He whispered.
I just needed to be alone for a moment to process this.
I rushed off to the bedroom and slammed the door behind me. I could not face my mate or anyone for that matter. Most of the pack members were already in bed so I was grateful not to be stopped in the hallways by anyone for a chat. I would likely off have ripped their heads off since I was so upset.
I pulled out the dusty book from under the bed and stroked it gently.
This was all I had left.
As I opened the book, I let the pages slip through my fingers until it stopped on a particular page.
I thought for a second. This one was going to cause a storm so I could easily get away and Aaron would be too distracted.
I was going to make them dirty filthy rogues pay for what they had done.
I could not sit around. I needed to get out and feel the wind in my hair and I knew that my Wolf, Cleo needed to get out before she lost her shit.
Aaron would understand. I would leave him a note since I had shut off my mind link. I could not see to let anyone see me or talk to me. Not right now because I felt numb, so shocked.

Only then did panic flood his eyes as he begged me to stay.
When his calls bombarded my phone later that night, it wasn't me who answered, but my new boyfriend Julian.
"Don't you know," Julian chuckled into the receiver, "that a proper ex-boyfriend should be as quiet as the dead?"
George seethed through gritted teeth: "Put her on the phone!"
"I'm afraid that's impossible."
Julian dropped a gentle kiss on my sleeping form nestled against him. "She's exhausted. She just fell asleep."
