Will she move in with her new family, or will she become the outcast and freak they turned her into?
Chapter 1
Elizabeth's POV
Tick, tick, tick.
These were the only sounds I could hear.
My eyes closed tight, hoping the demons would go away soon.
I could hear their voices in my head.
"You're weak."
"A good-for-nothing."
"Ugly."
"Fat."
"Just die already."
Those were the words the monsters would call me. Deep down, I felt lifeless. I had always wished for someone, anyone, to save me from this mess.
The bruises covered my body, and my once long blonde hair had turned brown from the sweat and blood stains.
I just wish it would all end soon; the sooner it does, the better for me.
Hey guys so this is my first story and I hope it gets a lot of views and likes.
"Look, boys," I heard one of the monsters say, followed by a group of laughter.
"Just a little princess all by herself. I wonder where your daddy and brothers are; you have been here for a while, you know, Princess Elizabeth," the monster continued.
"Just leave me alone," the inner voice in my head cried out.
"What a mute," one said, slapping me on my cheek. But I kept my head low, just the way they asked me to.
Mumbling to themselves, too busy minding their own business, my eyes moved around the room before landing on a body next to the door. My eyes went wide for a second; this is the first time I've seen this body.
A boy lay down with blood around his shirt, breathing slowly. You could hardly tell if he was alive or dead.
"Oh, the little princess has finally noticed her brother," one of the monsters said, grabbing the attention of men.
My head snapped fast at him, hearing those words.
"Brother?"
What does he mean by brother? I have heard them talk about my father and brothers before, but I didn't think they meant their words.
The group laughed again before walking toward the boy's body and kicked him on his stomach several times.
He moaned in pain, but that didn't make them happy.
"Golden boy," the monster said, pulling the boy's brown hair. Blood dripped down his mouth and nose.
"Look at it, a family reunion," the monster said, and his friends laughed with him.
My eyes remained on the boy, waiting for his eyes to open, but nothing happened.
The monsters all sighed before mumbling words to themselves, then dropped his body and walked out of the door.
My mind told me to go towards him and check if he was okay, but the little me was scared out of my life.
I stayed on the ground, looking at him for a while. One fact was that I couldn't move my legs. I don't remember the last time I walked, so it was really hard to move.
Deep down, I waited for him to move. My eyes stayed on him, waiting and waiting, until he moved.
He groaned deeply and shook his head, trying to gain his body back.
My heart raced, knowing for one fact that he was going to notice me.
Then he looked over to my side, and both our eyes went wide.
For a second, I was trying to remember him, but I couldn't. But I think he did because he called my name before mumbling to himself.
"Hey," he whispers.
I turned my head in a confused way before looking around, which made him laugh a little.
"I'm talking to you, little one," he says again with a little smile.
Nodding my head, I waved at him.
"My name is Zake," he continues. "What's yours?" He asked, still looking at me.
I was about to talk when I remembered I didn't know how to speak. Then my head went down, feeling sad that I couldn't make conversation with him.
"It's okay, don't be sad," he mumbles, then stands up and walks, more like limps, towards me slowly.
My eyes calculated his body movements in case he was going to hurt me like the monster, but he didn't. He just quietly sat next to me and gave me a little smile.
"Do you know your name?" he asked again. I gave him a quick nod, making him smile again.
"Okay, okay. Do you remember me?" he asked, pointing to himself.
Shaking my head left and right, his smile dropped before saying a little, "Oh."
"Don't worry; we are gonna be out of here soon. Dad and the others are coming for us," he mumbled while I tried to understand what he meant. But I just hoped it wouldn't take a while.
Zack and I kept quiet the whole time. He was waiting for Dad and the boys; that's what he kept telling me. Sometimes he would look my way but look back with a sad expression. His eyes would go to my scars, and then he would look away quickly as if it was killing him.
Feeling sleepy, my head dropped slowly. Zack moved towards me swiftly so my head wouldn't drop.
"I got you," he says before letting me lay my head on his shoulder. I didn't want to make him feel dirty because I don't remember the last time I had a bath, but he didn't care.
Later, I heard shouting and loud footsteps, then people banging on the door. My eyes shot up with fear. Before I knew it, Zack stood up and locked the door, saying he didn't want the monsters coming in again. We found out that the monsters dropped their second key by mistake, so there was no way for them to get in.
The banging continued, but Zack stayed by me. He even brought out a little device and put it in my ears, saying it would block out the noise. Then he played soft songs from another device I didn't know.
My mind went to different places, listening to the song. After some time, the shouting and loud footsteps stopped. Zack turned to me and took the device from my ears, making me give him a sad look. I was enjoying the song.
"Don't worry, when we get home, you can listen to all the songs you want, okay?" he says while playing with my hair. I nod softly, liking how he took care of me.
"Come on, let's go. Dad and the boys are here," he mumbles, getting up on his feet. I looked at him, then back at my legs, then back at him again, hoping he would get the information.
His eyes went wide before saying, "You can't move your legs." Nodding softly, he made a soft sound before picking me up. My eyes were wide out of fear, thinking he would drop me because he was also injured on his legs.
But all he said was, "They made my sister go through all this pain. They're gonna pay," He, then gave my forehead a kiss, which made me melt inside.
"Okay, before we leave, I want you to hide your face in my neck. Don't look up until I tell you, okay?" he says slowly, while I nod my head, giving him a thumbs up.
He smiled and then started moving. I did what he asked me to do.
