Chapter 1
Laura's POV
"Laura, why are you looking like shit? Come on, pull yourself together. Today is not just the new moon festival; it's also your day," Christina patted me on the back with a smile that wasn't actually a smile. She must be secretly gloating inside at my misfortune.
Christina was from the same pack as I was; the two of us went to the same college. She couldn't be considered my friend, but I always have to put up with her since she was the only member of my pack going to the same school with me.
"What do you mean by 'I am looking like shit,' Christina? It's you that's looking like shit. I know that right now you'd be praying that you and Fredrick will be fated mates today. It's such a sick thought. Everyone is happy for Fredrick and Anna; it's only a sick fatty like you that always wishes that they wouldn't end up together so you can sink into your disgusting self," I retorted.
I didn't mind revealing her secrets if only you had known what I had suffered from her. She was always picking on me and telling me bad words, and I always tried to bear it because she was Damian's sister. But it wasn't the same today; I am in a very terrible mood, and yet she still chooses to mock me.
Tomorrow is going to be the new moon festival, it's a joyous festival for the pack. I sat in the taxi looking worried. Tomorrow was the day that Alpha Damian was supposed to marry me. This should have added special meaning to the moon festival for me, but here I was looking sad and worried.
Alpha Damian was my fated mate, and the two of us had been engaged for two years now, but our relationship wasn't what you must have imagined.
Damian had always been cruel and always maltreated me. He didn't see me as his mate and always made things difficult for me.
I had no one to rely on; I was an orphan. My parents died when I was still a child, and the few people that were good to me were mostly some omegas. I developed a good relationship with most of them, which incited some bad words from Damian.
He even said that I looked better off being an Omega rather than being a beta. We arrived at the pack house. The pack was in a festive mood, and the pack was bustling as everybody was busy preparing for the festival.
I went straight to my room to rest, ignoring all activities as if it had nothing to do with me. I lay on my bed to have a quick nap.
"Knock! Knock!"
Someone knocked on my door frantically, forcing me to wake up.
"Who?" I asked sleepily.
"It's me, Aria," the person answered. Oh, it's Aria, I thought. Aria was an Omega, and the two of us have a very close relationship. She is also very reliable and well-deserved of my friendship.
"Come in."
The door opened, and the meek Aria entered with her hands folded nervously. "My lady," she called.
"Don't call me that, please. How many times will I tell you to just call me by my name?" I frowned.
"I am sorry, Laura," she apologized nervously. "What's wrong? Why are you looking so nervous?" I asked worriedly seeing how she was acting.
"The alpha had called for your presence. He was very angry that you didn't show up for the festival in time and had asked for you to appear now," she informed.
I was surprised; I must have likely slept off due to fatigue from the long journey and had slept for long. I anxiously looked out of my window. Although it's getting dark, the full moon hadn't even shown any sign of coming out yet.
"Okay, I'll be coming very soon, Aria." I sent her off with a smile, but I was very worried deep inside. Since the full moon isn't out yet. Why would the alpha want me to appear now and even claim that I was late for the festival?
The moon hadn't even appeared yet. I was having a very bad feeling that something major would happen, and it wouldn't be good for me.
I hurried over from my quarters to the main building. I arrived at a wide corridor that leads to the main hall. It was decorated with tall flower vases by the sides; also, very strange statues of some unknown creatures are also placed there.
I walked through the strange corridor and reached the main hall. There many of the pack members are already there but not all. The Alpha Damian was sitting on the with his fatty sister.
She shot me a wicked look; I ignored her and went to greet Damian.
"Stop right there; don't come any closer," the Alpha shouted when he saw me getting closer. He had a very angry expression on his face.
"Why are you just coming now?" He questioned.
"There's nothing wrong with the time I came; the moon isn't out yet," I answered bravely.
"How dare you talk to me like that? Is this how you are supposed to talk to me when we get married? I always know you are very useless; I would have never wanted to be with anyone like you, so useless," he said in a cold, harsh voice.
"Why do you make it look like I am the one forcing you, Damian?" I couldn't hold it anymore and had to protest. Even though I loved him, I couldn't take his abuses any longer. I had to at least speak up once.
He stared at me in surprise and studied me carefully; then he stood up looking as if he had made up his mind.
"Very well then, this will be a good opportunity to get things straight. I can't continue to be with someone as disrespectful as you. Everyone in the pack is all witnesses." He stood up facing me directly.
The moon was slowly making an entrance.

Iron And Glamour Just Don't Mix
Well… Sometimes you just might turn out to be right.
It turns out, the fae stole my little brother. In his place? A pixie with boundary issues and a talent for home repairs.
I’ve spent my life taking care of everyone else. So when my baby brother is taken, I don’t hesitate. I walk straight into a faerie mansion and make a bargain with its infuriatingly charming master.
Kie is everything you’d expect from a dangerous fae, beautiful, political, and entirely too amused by me. Power wrapped in a smirk. Sensual, mischievous, and far too aware of the effect he has on people. He agrees to help me find my brother.
For a price.
Now I’m bound by a faerie bargain and navigating a world of glamour, manipulation, and ancient rules I definitely should have learned sooner, enchanted forests, political games, magical contracts, and a fae lord who treats seduction like a perfectly reasonable negotiation tactic.
Iron is how I keep people out.
Glamour is how he draws them in.
And apparently, they just don’t mix.

The first half is set in high school, and the second half is set during their college years. Hope you enjoy the journey!
This is a slow-paced story, focused more on emotions, healing, and the small moments in life rather than intense action or dramatic twists.
