The Mafia Don Wants Me Back, But I Said No
August · Ongoing · 6.3k Words
Introduction
On his card, my son, Leo, wrote:
"Dad, 100. Aunt Bianca, 100."
"Mom, 0. I hate her."
For three years I had fought my ex-husband, Damon, in court with everything I had. I gave up every cent of alimony just to win custody away from him.
But now, looking at that card, I was suddenly, completely tired.
When it was over, I handed Damon the signed papers giving up custody.
"He's yours," I said evenly. "The lawyers can handle the rest."
Damon is the don of New York's criminal underworld. He thought I was retreating so I could advance. He'd even had the papers drawn up for us to remarry, and he was waiting for me to sign and come home.
He seemed to have forgotten that his mistress had crushed my right hand under her stiletto heel, and that he had pulled strings to have my medical license revoked.
He'd forgotten, too, that on the day my mother was in a car accident, he stopped the doctors from going into the operating room, just to force me to give in.
The day my mother died on that table, my heart died with her.
So when he was sure I would bow my head, I nodded. I pretended to agree to meet him at City Hall in three days to remarry.
Damon waited outside City Hall all day with his bodyguards. He had no idea I was already on a plane to London.
He thought I would have nowhere to go, just like before.
But he forgot one thing. A woman who has already lost everything never looks back.
Chapter 1
On Family Day at his private school, the teacher asked the children to give each member of their family a score.
On his card, my son, Leo, wrote:

"He's yours." I slapped the signed manila envelope down on the hood of his armored Bentley. "I signed. The lawyers can handle the rest. The sooner the better."
The cold New York November wind cut straight down the collar of my coat.
Damon stood by the car door, a cigar between his fingers, his hand frozen in midair. His eyes went as dark as I'd ever seen them.
"From now on, Bianca is Leo's mother."
I looked him in the eye, my voice perfectly flat. "That's what he chose, anyway."
Leo's eyes lit up. He was about to cheer, but one savage look from Damon made him hunch his shoulders.
The boy shrank back half a step. I laughed coldly inside. He liked Aunt Bianca so much, and now he'd gotten exactly what he wanted. So why was he suddenly too scared to make a sound?
"Have you lost your mind?" Damon crushed out his cigar and strode over to me, his huge frame looming over me. "You'd rather toss your own son away like garbage than bow your head to me just once?"
"I'm not in the habit of bowing my head to anyone."
I opened the back door and got in, completely ignoring the passenger seat that used to be mine.
Damon slammed the door hard and glared at me in the rearview mirror like he wanted to eat me alive.
Bianca swayed her hips as she slid into the passenger seat. She turned around and gave me a flawless, fake smile. "Sorry you have to sit in the back, Vivian. Damon adjusted the seat for me, and I just can't be bothered to change it."
She arched an eyebrow, her voice dripping with charitable pity. "Honestly, if you want to come back to the Moretti family, why use your son as an excuse? This time you're giving the boy back. Next time... are you planning to give yourself back too?"
"If you can't keep your mouth shut, get out of the car. Now."
I stared coldly out the window and didn't even spare her a glance.
Bianca's face stiffened. She turned to Damon, looking wounded.
Damon didn't say a word. He floored the gas, and the car roared off.
We drove into a rough, crowded neighborhood in Brooklyn and pulled up in front of an old building where even the elevator was broken.
I got out, went down the stairs, and shoved my key into the peeling iron door.
Before I'd even stepped inside, Bianca covered her nose and shrieked, "Oh my God, Vivian, you actually live in this rat hole?"
Damon looked around the dark, damp, moldy basement, his face livid. The first thing out of his mouth was a condescending attack. "My son lives on the Upper East Side, and you bring him here on his weekends? To this dump?"
I took off my coat and didn't bother answering.
I had gone from being the youngest attending neurosurgeon in the country to having my license revoked by the medical board. After that, I was reduced to working off the books as an aide in back-alley clinics.
In just six years, this man had wiped my life clean.
Now I worked the night shift as a cashier at a twenty-four-hour convenience store. My tiny hourly wage was barely enough to rent this basement.
But all of that was about to end.
Leo had a lot of things, but there were very few he really wanted.
I picked out a few clothes and toys and stuffed them into a suitcase.
I crouched down to look my son in the eye. "Eat your meals on time. Listen to your father. Don't make Bianca angry."
I held the suitcase out to Damon. He didn't take it.
Bianca reached for it, but Damon suddenly turned and slammed the door shut.
He had locked Bianca and Leo outside.
In the cramped basement, he loomed over me, staring at me like a wolf watching its prey.
After a long moment, he scoffed. He pulled a document out of the inside pocket of his suit and tapped the pages against my cheek.
"Vivian, are you done with this act yet?"
He stepped closer, wound a strand of my hair around his finger, and said mockingly, "I know you too well. You can't live without Leo, but you're too proud to beg me. So you're playing this little game, pulling back so I'll give you a way down."
"Take a good look. I had the papers drawn up for us to remarry a long time ago."
"Just nod and sign, and I'll pretend these last three years never happened. I'll take you home."

That belief shattered the night Caden welcomed his former lover back into our home, along with a child he claimed as his heir. It ended the moment his choices nearly cost me my life and the life of one of my unborn pups. Leaving was no longer a matter of pride. It was survival.

Rejected By My Family, Desired By The Mafia
While the real heiress struggled to survive, the nanny’s daughter, Talia, was raised in luxury as the beloved jewel of the Laurent family, pampered by Camille’s parents, adored by her three brothers, and even promised to the prestigious Matteo Devereux through a childhood engagement arranged by their grandparents.
Then the truth came out.
Six months ago, Camille was finally brought back to the Laurent family. To protect the family reputation and prove their devotion to their bloodline, the Laurent patriarch transferred 35% of his personal shares into Camille’s name overnight, instantly making her one of the wealthiest heiresses in the country.
It brought anxiety to all the Laurent family. But what they don’t know…is that Camille never needed them.
Behind her elegant smile lies a woman filled with secrets powerful enough to shake the whole family. She's a miraculous healer capable of curing the incurable poisons.
Yet despite everything, her family still chooses Talia.
Every accusation against Talia is forgiven. Every scheme against Camille is brushed aside. Even Matteo, the man who was supposed to be Camille’s fiancé—cannot let go of the woman he always believed belonged by his side.
But while the Laurent family underestimates Camille, another man begins to see exactly who she is.
Dante Moretti.
The ruthless heir of an old-money dynasty. A billionaire CEO worshipped by the public…and the merciless king of a criminal empire hidden beneath the city’s glittering surface. When Dante is poisoned by a rival syndicate with a deadly toxin no doctor can cure, he offers a fortune for anyone who can save him.
Only Camille can. Their deal is simple: she becomes his personal physician, and he gives her anything she wants.
GO ON YOUR KNEES, ALPHA.
He was wrong.
Six years ago, Pete Leadsilver had everything an Alpha could want. Power, a respected pack and a future already written for him.
Then he met me.
What began as a game became a mistake I would spend years trying to survive. When I told him I was carrying his child, Pete chose not to believe me. He rejected me, humiliated me, and allowed the people around him to make sure I understood that there was no place for me in his world.
So I disappeared.
I took the secret of my pregnancy with me and built a life far away from the Alpha who had broken me.
Six years later, Pete finds me again. Only this time, he isn't the man with all the power. His pack is dying, his people are running out of time, and I may be the only person capable of saving them.
But I'm no longer the woman Pete remembers. And beside me is a little boy who carries far too much of Pete's face to be a coincidence.
Our reunion should have been about a cure, but instead, it becomes the beginning of a war neither of us saw coming.
Because Pete's greatest danger isn't outside his pack.
It's inside his own family.
Old resentment turns into manipulation. Loyalty becomes betrayal. And the people Pete trusts begin hiding secrets that threaten to destroy everything he's built.
Then someone comes for the people I love.
Suddenly, this is no longer about whether Pete can earn my forgiveness.
It's about whether he can keep me alive.
Whether he can protect the son he never knew existed.
Whether he can uncover the truth before the people closest to him destroy everything he has finally learned to value.
Along the way, we'll lose people we thought would always stand beside us, I'll be forced to confront wounds I've spent six years trying to bury, and the family we're slowly building will be tested in ways neither of us could have imagined.
Because sometimes love isn't the hardest thing to find. Sometimes it's the hardest thing to survive.
Pete once believed power meant never needing anyone and I once believed surviving him meant leaving him behind.
We were both wrong.
Because some bonds refuse to die, some betrayals cut deeper than rejection and some people don't come back into your life to give you a second chance.
They come back to show you exactly what you almost lost.
Pete Leadsilver lost me once.
This time, he'll have to fight to keep the family he never knew he needed.

My Billionaire Husband's Secret
He was the CEO of the Blackwood Group — a man whose wealth and power eclipsed ninety-nine percent of the world.
He was gentle. Romantic. Attentive. I fell for him fast.
But a year into our marriage, I began to notice something — a pattern.
Lucas's sexual appetite was intense — he wanted me almost every night. Yet every single month, he arranged a solo trip to send me away. I told myself it was his way of spoiling me.
Then a message arrived from someone called Sweet An.
Do you really know your husband?
From that day on, my life filled with shadows.
I suspected my husband of having an affair.
When Lucas and I made love, something felt wrong — his body too large, too much, like something I couldn't explain.
I heard sounds during sex — animal sounds, like something feral had crawled into bed with us.
My best friend Mia said: "There are men sick enough to let dogs fuck their wives."
The family doctor, Daisy, told me: "You could never stay by Lucas's side forever. Your background doesn't make you worthy of being his wife. Do you understand?"
I went looking for whoever had been tearing my marriage apart. I fought to win my husband back.
But the deeper I searched, the larger the secret grew — something far darker hiding beneath this supposed betrayal.
Does Lucas truly love me?
And why, out of everyone in the world, did he choose to marry me?
MOONLIT CHASE
But no, I had to walk through the park at midnight like an idiot. Now I've seen something I can't unsee—a massive black wolf tearing apart three men, then shifting into the hottest guy I've ever laid eyes on.
Kieran Vaughn. Wealthy lawyer, werewolf, and apparently, he thinks I'm his mate.
Here's the problem: I don't do relationships. I definitely don't do supernatural things. I absolutely don't do rich guys who think they can control my life just because their inner wolf has decided I smell like home.
When hunters start targeting me to get to him, Kieran drags me into his pristine penthouse for "protection." Now I'm living with a man who looks at me like I'm his last meal, whose touch sets my skin on fire, and who's barely holding onto his control.
He says everyone he loves dies. I say that's not my problem except it is because I'm falling for this broken, dangerous man and his beast.
And in his world? Love will get you killed.
Tango 2 the Alpha's Heart
My gaze snapped to his. He was smiling, causing my heart to skip a painful beat. Before I could respond, the music began, and my body instinctively reacted to the sweet melody.
I found myself molded to Lex's will, my feet irresistibly following the dance steps.
The crowd gasped as Lex pulled me into a more intimate position, his hands roaming over my body in a seductive manner.
The experience was both terrifying and magical, allowing me to feel every longing emotion through the dance.
I soon found myself lost in his arms.
When the music finally stopped, my arms were wrapped around his neck, his hands resting on my back, our noses almost touching. He gazed deeply into my eyes.
The ballroom fell silent.
Was he about to kiss me?
