Chapter 1
Voices could be heard in the little restaurant. One waitress could be seen serving the whole people in the restaurant.
Sitting on a chair beside the flowers, sat Angel and her friends. She won't actually call them friends, they just know each other during campus time.
They happened to meet when she just finished her shift as a waitress and decided to catch up for the time they lost.
She glanced around the restaurant admiring the beauty a lot. Why didn't she work here? Why did she have to work at Sweet Pork? Sighing, her mind wandered back to when she was in campus
Having big dreams of becoming an artist but that hit the Rock when her dad got blackmailed. She sighed again not noticing the girls attention were on her.
She continued to remember her college life, how she lost her brother and her mom to a car accident. Looking back at the past it really hurts a lot. Losing the two people you love the most to the wicked shackles of death.
" Angel!"
She blinked when she heard her name, and looked up with a smile, she was grateful for the distraction.
" What are you thinking about holy one?" Mila asked rolling her eyes.
Holy one was a nickname given to her by them because she was a very kind, happy person.
" Nothing" She replied dryly.
" You know she is very tight lipped, it will be hard getting the truth from her" Gina snapped obviously irritated by Angel's quiet behavior.
" Am famished. Let's order something" Mila chipped in.
Angel just watched them as they went on and on about foods they want to eat. As she watched them battle on which food to order, she pulled out a lollipop and threw it in her mouth.
" Angel aren't going to order?" Gina asked looking at Angel
" Banana milk and more lollipop" Angel replied with a smile.
That's her, she is a lollipop person. She just loves keeping her mouth busy.
" Come on! Be real, no junk food" Mila pleaded and Angel nodded.
Just as she opened her mouth to speak, her phone rang.
" Sorry i need to take this call" Standing up, she walked to the exit before answering the call
" Hey Dad" She called frowning.
" Hey Baby, could you come home now? It's an emergency"
Angel Frowned wondering what the emergency was about but she agreed and hanged up. Moving back into the restaurant, She muttered a word of apology to her friends before moving out.
Jogging back home wasn't a new thing for Angel despite the distance. By the time, she got to their small apartment, she was already sweating.
No waiting to catch her breath, she ran into the house.
" Dad? What's the emergency?" She asked as she tried to catch her breath.
" Baby..?" Her Dad stammered but was suddenly pushed to the floor.
That was when Angel noticed the men in black standing behind her father, one of them was putting on a black mask. She also noticed the fresh bruises on her fathers face.
" Dad!"
She ran towards him, holding his face in her palms.
" Who are this people Dad?" She asked in tears.
" Tell her!" The masked man commanded from behind.
" Baby am sorry" Her Dad apologised.
" What? Why?" She asked confused.
" Boss, she is the collateral" Another man's voice was heard.
Wait what? Collateral? Of what?! She looked back at her Dad for answers but before he could produce one, she was yanked from his arms.
" Since you can't pay the debt you owe me, then I will take your daughter as my bride" The masked man snapped.
Tears blinded Angel's face as she figured out what was going on. She never knew her father hated her. Giving her out as a collateral to this dangerous people.
" Dad... ?" She choked in tears.
" Please don't harm her" her Dad pleaded in tears.
Angel couldn't believe if the tears were real or fake. She didn't trust her father anymore.
" It is my decision to harm her or not!" The masked man
spat out angrily.
" Let's go!"
Immediately they started pulling her out of the house, she was screaming and crying.
" Shut her up" The man in mask ordered.
Immediately, her lips were being taped and her hands were tied. She was pushed into a Black Chevrolet with the Masked man sitting beside her.
" Boss, were are you headed?" The driver asked not daring to look back
" Court. We need to register our Marriage" came the timid reply of the Masked man.
Angel's eyes widened in shock. So soon?! What has become of her? First, her father betrayed her, now she was getting married to a man she doesn't know.
Why can't she ever live in peace?

"Let me be perfectly clear," he announces. "She's not my mate. She's not my anything. She's just a sad little girl who needs to learn her place."
The silence that follows is deafening. Hundreds of students stare at me with pity. With disgust. With relief that they're not in my position.

Everyone knows the Academy, it’s where witches sharpen their spells, shifters master their forms, and every kind of magical creature learns to control their gifts.
Everyone except me.
I don’t even know what I am. No shifting, no magic tricks, nothing. Just a girl surrounded by people who can fly, conjure fire, or heal with a touch. So I sit through classes pretending I belong, and I listen hard for any clue that might tell me what’s hidden in my blood.
The only person more curious than me is Blake Nyvas, tall, golden-eyed, and very much a Dragon. People whisper that he’s dangerous, warn me to keep my distance. But Blake seems determined to solve the mystery of me, and somehow I trust him more than anyone else.
Maybe it’s reckless. Maybe it’s dangerous.
But when everyone else looks at me like I don’t belong, Blake looks at me like I’m a riddle worth solving.

He definitely doesn’t care about the determined, overachieving half-Indian nursing major he’s stuck sharing a room with…
Until Bodhi becomes the only thing keeping him in school.
His tutor.
His healer.
His undoing.
And when Maverick stumbles into their dorm one night with a knife wound and Bodhi stitches him up with shaking hands and a breaking heart…
no longer can that be denied.
Opposites weren’t supposed to collide this way.
