The Rain Knows His Name
Jonathan Morri · Ongoing · 111.2k Words
Introduction
The world believed the legendary operative known as Zero was dead, buried alongside the secrets that destroyed his life.
Then the rain began to fall.
When a series of explosions tears through Black Harbor, Ethan is forced back into a shadow war he thought he'd escaped forever. Old enemies return from the dead, assassins emerge from the darkness, and a mysterious organization starts hunting him once again.
But the deeper he digs, the more he realizes the attacks were never about the city.
They were about him.
Because some names are never forgotten.
And the rain still remembers his.
Chapter 1
The rain had stopped ten minutes ago.
Water still dripped from the steel cranes outside the harbor. Their rusted arms moved slowly through the fog like giant machines searching for bodies beneath the black Atlantic water.
The city lights barely reached this part of the port.
That was why Ethan liked it.
Dark places made it easier to see danger.
He stood beside the floor-to-ceiling window in a black dress shirt, sleeves rolled to his forearms, the top buttons undone. A half-finished glass of bourbon rested near his hand, untouched for the last twenty minutes.
Ethan wasn't drinking.
He was watching.
Every reflection.
Every moving light.
Every shadow near the docks.
Behind him, Lena Davis lay tangled in gray sheets, cigarette smoke drifting above her shoulder.
"You're thinking about him again," she said softly.
Ethan slipped a lighter into his pocket without turning around.
"The dead always find their way back."
Silence filled the room.
On the wall hung a massive world map, old and creased from years of folding. Four colored pins marked different locations.
Belgrade.
Tripoli.
Bogotá.
And one in the middle of the Atlantic.
Lena sat up slowly, "We're back inside now. Your clearance was restored. Langley reopened the restricted files for you. Whatever happened before—"
"It never ended."
Ethan finally turned.
The dim harbor light cut across his face, sharpening every angle. In different countries, different people knew him by different names.
Ethan.
Kay.
Raven.
Zero.
None of them were real.
Lena walked toward him barefoot, placing a hot cup of coffee on the table beside the laptop. Mint and ginger rose with the steam.
"You're scaring yourself."
"No," Ethan replied calmly, "I'm remembering."
He opened the laptop.
A grainy surveillance video filled the screen.
Parking garage.
Low camera angle.
Cheap security feed.
A man in a dark coat crossed beside a black transport van.
Lena frowned, "Who is that?"
Ethan paused the frame and zoomed in.
A black ring reflected beneath the parking lights.
At its center was an inverted triangle.
Lena's face instantly lost color.
"No..."
Ethan leaned back in the chair.
"Kane Collins."
"That's impossible." Her voice dropped to a whisper. "Kane died years ago."
"He died three times."
Rain hammered softly against the glass again.
Ethan kept staring at the ring on the screen.
Black Triangle.
Not officially listed.
Not officially real.
But every intelligence agency in the world knew the symbol.
And feared it.
Lena folded her arms tightly, "You think they came back for you?"
Ethan gave a cold smile.
"They don't come for people."
He closed the laptop.
"They erase them."
The room suddenly felt smaller.
Lena watched him cross toward the wall map.
"You can't go after them alone," she said. "Headquarters will never approve it."
Ethan flattened one corner of the map with his palm.
"I'm not asking."
"You know what this means if Kane's alive."
Ethan said nothing.
That silence frightened her more than words.
Finally she asked the question she had avoided for years.
"What happened between you two?"
Ethan stared at the Atlantic marker.
"For a while," he said quietly, "he was me."
Before Lena could respond, her phone vibrated violently on the table.
Unknown number.
Her breathing stopped.
Ethan grabbed the phone first.
A distorted voice crackled through the speaker.
"Still alive, Zero?"
Ethan's eyes narrowed.
"Kane."
A dry laugh echoed through the line.
"You always recognize my voice."
Then came the sound of metal scraping in the background.
Chains.
Containers.
Dock machinery.
Harbor sounds.
"I'll keep this simple," Kane said. "Three hours. Warehouse 19. Come alone."
Ethan's voice remained calm.
"And if I don't?"
Silence.
Then—
BOOM.
A massive explosion ripped through the harbor.
The windows shattered inward.
Lena screamed as the shockwave threw her across the bed.
Glass exploded through the apartment like bullets.
Ethan moved instantly.
One hand shielded his face while the other caught a jagged shard before it struck his throat.
Fire rose outside the docks.
Warehouse smoke climbed into the night sky.
On the phone, Kane was laughing.
"Heads always turn toward the fire, Ethan."
The call disconnected.
Ethan grabbed his coat and handgun from the table.
Lena stumbled to her feet, "You knew something was happening down there!"
"I knew he wanted my attention."
"You're walking into a trap."
"Yes."
Ethan checked the magazine with mechanical precision.
Click.
"But it's my trap now."
Lena grabbed his arm.
"No support. No backup. Langley won't protect you."
"That's why I survive."
He opened a small metal case from his pocket.
Inside was a wireless earpiece and a syringe filled with dark blue liquid.
Lena stared at it, "What is that?"
"Insurance."
He placed the earpiece into her hand.
"Listen carefully," he said. "If I don't come back before sunrise, burn everything in this room."
"Ethan—"
"And trust nobody."
He pulled the coat over his shoulders and disappeared into the rain.
The door slammed shut behind him.
For several seconds, Lena could only hear distant sirens and the roar of burning fuel tanks across the harbor.
Then the laptop screen flickered.
A new folder appeared.
K.
Her blood turned cold.
Slowly, she opened it.
A video began playing automatically.
Two men were tied to metal chairs inside a warehouse. Black tape covered their mouths. One wore a dockworker uniform. The other was an older harbor supervisor bleeding heavily from the forehead.
The camera tilted downward.
Black boots stepped into frame.
A distorted male voice spoke calmly.
"Lena... I know you're watching."
She froze.
"If Ethan is with you," the voice continued, "tell him the clock already started."
The man behind the camera walked toward a steel support beam and knocked on it twice.
CLANG.
CLANG.
"Interesting structure," he said almost casually.
Then he laughed.
"Remove one beam..."
He lifted something into view.
A detonator.
"...and the whole harbor falls into the ocean."

The CEO's Unspoken Love
Before I could answer, he moved closer, suddenly looming over me, his face inches from mine. I felt my breath caught, my lips parting in surprise.
"Then this is the price for speaking ill of me to others," he murmured, nipping my lower lip before claiming my mouth in a real kiss. It began as punishment but quickly transformed into something else entirely as I responded, my initial rigidity melting into compliance, then active participation.
My breathing accelerated, small sounds escaping my throat as he explored my body. His touches were both punishment and pleasure, drawing shudders from me that I thought he felt reverberating through his own body.
My nightgown had ridden up, his hands discovering more of mine with each caress. We were both lost in sensation, rational thought receding with each passing second...

His Lethal Obsession
He didn't respond but moved his eyes around the room, scanning the place.
"Wha...what are you doing here?"
His icy blue eyes returned to me, sending shivers down my spine. Then further dropped to my dress and then back to my eyes.
"The shit going on downstairs, what does it mean?" he asked, making my legs as weak as they are eager to flee.
"It's....it my wedding,"
He scoffed darkly. "Excuse me?"
I swallowed. "I am......getting married,"
He let out a humorless laugh, looking away and giving me lesser comfort. He looked at me with a demonic frown.
Terror washed me.
"Every single motherfucker/human being here, be it adult or child, including you, will burn before that happens,"

From Sacrificed Slave to the Dragon King's Obsession
His fangs glinted as he gripped my chin, forcing me to meet his gaze. Dragon scales shimmered along his neck, breath scorching my skin.
"Your Majesty... I beg—" He shoved me onto the bed. Silk tore with a sharp rip, cold air rushing over my exposed body.
"Scared?" He smirked, palm sliding down my waist, fingers tracing slow, burning circles. "Yet you shiver... not from cold."
I lunged for the candlestick, but he caught my wrist, pinning it overhead. His knee forced my legs apart.
"When your father gave you to me," his lips brushed my ear, voice a dark rumble, "you were already mine."

The Alpha's Stripper Mate
"What?" It was out of my mouth before I could stop it. I did not wait for him to answer me, I walked toward him.
"Dance on my lap."
My head screamed at me to turn around and run. But my whole body responded to his command.
"Yes, Alpha," I pulled my dress over my body, it dropped over my head and fell to the ground behind me. I was left in nothing but my matching bra and thong. My hands covered my chest on reflex.
"Let me see."
My hands dropped to my sides.
I lowered myself into his lap, facing him. His eyes peered into mine, and I could feel his hot breath fan my face. His dick responded to all my moves, hardening against my now-moist vagina. I swallowed hard, allowing my lips to part in a ragged breath. His hands trailed up to my waist.
"No touching."
