Introduction
He rushed off to rescue an Omega surrounded by vampires, leaving me alone in the villa.
That same night, a jarring photo spread through the pack.
Damien, covered in blood, held Rose tightly in his arms, his lips pressed against her forehead.
Everyone was waiting for me to be jealous, to rage.
But I didn’t scream or argue like I used to.
Instead, I poured out his favorite champagne, closed my eyes calmly, and prayed to the Moon Goddess.
“You once said I have a destined mate.”
“If he will make me strong and free me from this wretched marriage, let him come for me in seven days.”
Chapter 1
On our seventh wedding anniversary, my Alpha husband missed our candlelight dinner for the seventh time.
He rushed off anxiously to rescue an Omega surrounded by vampires, leaving me alone in the villa.
That night, a glaring photo spread through the wolf pack.
Damien, covered in blood, held Rose tightly in his arms, his lips pressed against her forehead.
Everyone was waiting for me to get jealous and angry.
But I didn't make a scene like I used to.
Instead, I poured out his favorite champagne, calmly closed my eyes, and prayed to the Moon Goddess.
"You once said I had a destined mate.If he can make me strong and free me from this pathetic marriage, let him come for me in seven days."
"Are you really sure? You once risked your life climbing the frozen peaks to gather herbs to cure Damien's wolf poison, begging me not to separate you two."
The Moon Goddess sighed softly, speaking to my mind.
I hesitated for a moment, then answered firmly, "I'm tired. Giving everything for him is just wasting my life."
The Moon Goddess continued, "Very well. Your destined mate has been waiting for you for a long time. His identity will surprise you, and you two will become the happiest couple in the pack."
Just as I was about to ask who he was, the sound of the door opening interrupted my thoughts.
"Honey, I'm home."
Damien placed a jewelry box, an anniversary gift, on the dining table, his tone slightly apologetic.
He hadn't changed out of his damaged battle gear yet, with several dried bloody gashes across his muscular body.
You could tell how furious he'd been, how desperately he'd fought to protect Rose.
In the past, as long as he sweet-talked me a little, I would have rushed to treat his wounds, terrified he might get infected.
But now, I just stayed silent.
Mentally planning what to pack when I leave in seven days.
He noticed something was off and gently pulled me into his arms.
"Are you jealous? Don't get the wrong idea. I was just worried it would remind you of your father."
My heart trembled, my nose stinging with emotion.
Seven years ago, my Beta father died in a midnight vampire attack, and it became my nightly nightmare.
It was then that Damien killed all the escaping vampires for me and proposed. "Soraya, marry me. I'll take your father's place and protect you forever."
His handsome, devoted face seemed to appear before my eyes.
While I was lost in thought, he opened the jewelry box.
On the black velvet cushion lay the necklace Tear of the Ocean, worth three million.
"I saw you looking at it in the shop window. I figured you must like it. Consider this my apology for missing dinner, okay?"
My heart raced, hope flickering back to life.
But the moment I touched the necklace, my blood ran cold.
It was a fake.
"You gave the real one to Rose?"
I smiled mockingly.
His face darkened as he scrambled for an excuse. "She was terrified and kept crying. I just wanted to give her something to cheer her up."
I threw the necklace in the trash without expression. "How dare you say you'd take my father's place and love me? My father would never give me a fake."
A flash of anger crossed his eyes, as if blaming me for making trouble over nothing.
"What's gotten into you? You never used to be this unreasonable. Think whatever you want. I don't have time for spoiled, difficult women."
He stormed out, slamming the door.
Only the cold moonlight remained, shining on the floor, illuminating my solitary shadow.
It reminded me of seven years ago.

For a price.
Now I’m bound by a faerie bargain and navigating a world of glamour, manipulation, and ancient rules I definitely should have learned sooner, enchanted forests, political games, magical contracts, and a fae lord who treats seduction like a perfectly reasonable negotiation tactic.

Glamour is how he draws them in.
And apparently, they just don’t mix.

Taste of Fate: The Vampire King's Human Mate
He reached for the back of my head and pulled me up just enough to reach my neck. When his fangs slid into me, the pain was instant, electric. I couldn’t breathe. I couldn’t think. My hands found his shoulders, clawing for something to hold. My legs kicked. Tears streamed down my cheeks.
He moaned against my throat as he drank, and the sound was devastating.
