One daring moment in the heart of the pit; the roar of the crowd echoing off the steel, adrenaline pumping, and my heart pounding, I kissed the most dangerously gorgeous man I’d ever seen.
I didn’t know he was the Don to the most feared mafia group in the city.
I didn’t know he was being hunted.
And I definitely didn’t know I was his perfect alibi.
Now I’m tangled in a cruel world filled with secrets with the man who claims I belong to him. But there’s something Nikolai Moretti doesn’t know; I’m not just some pit-side whore fling. I’m his salvation…. and his damnation.
Chapter 1
CHAPTER 001
JASMINE:
My fiancé is gay.
That was the thought that echoed in my mind as I stood frozen, watching the scene before me.
David, the man who proposed to me, who promised me forever, who swore he loved me to the moons and sky, was underneath a tall, dark-skinned man, legs spread wide open, one of his hands pumping himself and the other clawed at the sink for balance.
I couldn’t move. I couldn’t blink. I couldn’t even breathe. I only stood there watching.
Both were oblivious to my presence, too busy to notice the broken girl by the restroom door. The wet slapping sound of skin to the countertop near the mirror got even louder with each hard pound, and the shameful shriek from David did nothing to help.
“Oh my world, you’re so big. Faster, harder. Oh, heavens!”
Something inside me snapped as my eyes watered. He’d never moaned like that when he was with me.
Liar he was.
I thought I knew him, but everything felt like a lie now.
Was this who he really was?
Did he date me just to cover up his sexuality to the public?
“You like that, huh. Now ride me like the fucking horse you are.”
“Yes, daddy. I’m yours always and forever. Do with me whatever you wish.”
A small choked sob escaped my lips after hearing his reply.
They both paused.
David's eyes met mine.
“Oh fuck, Jasmine,” He pushed himself off the mirror and away from the man as he rushed to cover himself.
“I…I can explain.”
I turned away and walked out.
There was no use arguing or fighting. I knew I had lost the battle before it even fully began. I was never his type, not now, not ever.
Footsteps followed behind me. Then a hand caught my wrist.
“Jasmine, please listen to me.”
I didn’t meet his eyes; instead, my gaze was fixated on his bare feet as they berated me. I was afraid if I met those betraying eyes I fell in love with, I might break completely.
“It’s not what it looks like. That… what you saw meant nothing. It was a mistake.”
“You are gay.” I said quietly.
“Jasmine, it’s not like that.”
I ripped my arm free, repelled by his touch. “You lay, spread both your legs, and let another man…” I swallowed hard, my throat burning and still not meeting his eyes. “From behind. Gay. A bottom…”
This was unbelievable.
I agreed to marry a closeted gay man?
How didn’t I notice this at all? Was I so blinded with love to see the signs?
I only came to the restroom, searching for him because he had taken too long. And this was what I found? And to think I was about to introduce him to my father, whom I dared not to see nor visit in the past four years.
Warm drops slid down my cheeks. My hands flew to my face, furiously wiping away the wet streaks, but they kept coming.
“You should have told me. You shouldn’t have led me on. I should have understood.”
“I am not gay.”
“Shut up. You know what?” My voice was small, but I was sure of this decision. I stared at the diamond ring until it blurred through my tears, then slid it off slowly, throwing it at his face. “We are done. Goodbye, David. Go pack your things and get out of my house before I get there, or I’ll burn every single one.”
“Wait, wait, you can’t do this. You can’t!!” His cracked voice became a whisper as I walked farther from him. “Think about what you’re doing. You need me just like I need you. Don’t throw your career away over one measly mistake.”
Measly, he called it?
Without me, his career would be nothing.
I didn’t even turn around.
I wiped the tears off my face as I pushed through the doors, the roar of the crowd outside enough to deafen.
The pit fight was chaotic and in full swing.
The sight of sweaty, muscular, shirtless men, barely clothed females and the deafening roar of the crowd did nothing to ease my shattered self. The air smelt of sweat, smoke and beer.
I looked down at my equally revealing outfit: a silky pink mini dress with cat-ear straps and rhinestones glittering under the dim lights. I felt exposed; my curls had loosened from excessive movements, my mascara was smudged, and my heels were too high for a place like this.
Men whistled as I walked past, mistaking my silence for confidence. I kept my head down, afraid people would recognise and see me in such a dishevelled state.
I should never have come to a place like this. I only came here for him, and he dared betray me.
I didn’t get too far, though.
“Stop being so stubborn, Jasmine. I’m sorry, okay. We can talk this out.”
Not in a million years.
His large figure blocked my path out of the underground pit. “You know I love you. Always and forever. Stop the drama. We both know you’ll come running back to me like always.”
I froze, my teeth gritting as anger replaced the pain inside of me.
Such audacity.
He really believed he still had that power over me?
If he thinks I would crawl back to him like I had done multiple times, he is dead wrong. Previously, it was with different women, but now a man, no.
I wanted him to hurt, to feel even a fraction of what I felt watching him with that man.
I scanned the crowd, thinking.
‘Make him jealous.’
‘Make him hurt.’
My gaze stopped at someone.
There, down in the pit, two heavily built men were locked in an intense fight; all muscles, sweat and raw power. The crowd surrounding the pit screamed, feeding off the violence. One of the fighters landed a heavy blow to the other one’s head, knocking him unconscious immediately.
The victor stood over the fallen comrade, chest heaving, jaw clenched as he scanned the roaring crowd.
He was dangerously and evilly handsome.
From my spot, I could see his broad and carved muscular physique. His skin was slick with sweat and covered in strange tattoos as far as the eyes could see. A scar cut across his lips, his chin with small stubble and his eyes. Gosh, his eyes – they were the greyest I had ever seen.
The crowd went feral, chanting his name.
“NIK! NIK! NIK!”
I couldn’t tear my eyes away from him, too lost in such manly perfectness.
“Jasmine.” That cheater’s voice reached my ears, dragging my attention back to him. “Let’s go back home. Now.” He snapped, stepping closer.
If he could betray me without shame or remorse, then I could shatter the illusion he had of control. Let him watch me walk into someone else’s arms.
“You want drama?” I whispered, grinning slightly, the humour not reaching my eyes. “Fine. Watch me make one.”
Before he could react, I walked straight toward the man named Nik.
The chain net opened, and the crowd parted, creating a way for their victor as he climbed out.
I mirrored his steps toward me, watching his muscles bounce with each step he took. His tattoos shone due to his sweat under the dim light.
His grey eyes locked on mine for a split second, a flash of curiosity there as I stood before his brooding form.
I didn’t think much. I just moved.
And without hesitation nor giving him the chance to act or know what was going on, I jumped on him, wrapped my arms around his broad neck and my legs across his waist and crushed my lips to his.

On Christmas Eve, I aborted the CEO's child
On Christmas Eve night, my husband brought his mistress home and demanded that I, his pregnant wife, leave with nothing.
On this day, I lost my husband and also lost the child in my womb...
I Loved You in Silence, You Betrayed Me in French
At my birthday party, my husband whispered to his mistress in French that he missed her. His voice was low, but I heard it all—the black lingerie, the bit about how pregnancy makes you more sensitive. His French clients around us were laughing. He turned and put his arm around me, claiming he was just helping his clients come up with sweet nothings.
He doesn't know I understand every single word. Just like he doesn't know that inside my body, I'm carrying his other surprise. And his mistress—she's pregnant too. Two wombs, one secret.
Confrontation would be too cheap. Tears are worthless. I quietly started cataloging the hidden networks my father left behind, activating the Swiss accounts.
In seven days, Zoey Smith will cease to exist. And what will my husband's reaction be?
When I Disappeared, He Regretted It
The moment the screen lit up, my entire world came crashing down.
The woman on the bed was Calista - that girl who grew up with us since we were kids. And that hand caressing her skin was wearing the wedding ring I had personally put on Matteo's finger.
"I've missed you so much..."
"You drive me crazy, baby..."
Those sweet words I knew so well completely destroyed me.
Everyone said we were the perfect couple, but who knew this marriage was built on nothing but lies?
Since he's so good at acting, I guess it's time I gave him a show of my own. I'm going to make sure everyone sees what this "perfect husband" really is...
He Never Loved Me, Until I Left
I put away the divorce agreement with a wry smile.
When he and my son completely disappeared, he finally panicked.
Three months later .
He knelt down on the streets of Chicago in despair, begging me to remarry him.
My six-year-old son looked coldly at his biological father and said, "Get lost, you bad uncle! You don't deserve to be my dad!"
He Thought I'd Never Leave
When he said he was being bullied, I believed him. When he kissed me on that rooftop, I thought he felt the same. When he asked me to transfer schools with him, I said yes without hesitation.
Then I heard him bragging to his friends: "She'd save her first time for me. Hell, she'd still be thinking of me on her wedding night."
The bullying was staged. The kiss meant nothing. He just wanted me gone—so his new girl could feel more comfortable.
He thought I'd beg. He thought I'd cry. He thought I'd never actually leave.
I left the country.
And ran straight into his stepbrother.
I Died While They Threw Her a Party
Their real daughter came home. She'd only been back two years. That's all it took to erase twenty-four.
When kidnappers grabbed us, I used my body as a shield. They beat me until something inside me ruptured. I was dying from internal bleeding, but no one could tell.
My parents wouldn't even look at me. "This is your fault! None of this would've happened if it weren't for you!"
"Get downstairs and apologize to your sister. If you can't, pack your things and get out."
They threw her a party at a downtown hotel while I died alone in my room.
I thought they'd be relieved. Maybe even glad. I thought they'd just move on like I never existed.
But when they finally learned the truth, they fell apart.
Bury Me in His Regret
The kidnapper pressed the gun to my temple and asked, "Choose your wife or your sister-in-law?"
Zachary didn't hesitate. "Let Valerie go," he said.
He actually chose to save his sister-in-law! In that moment, even the baby in my belly seemed to stop kicking.
Later, they locked me in the basement. Drugs to delay labor were pumped into my veins over and over. Zachary wanted to save the "firstborn son" status for his sister-in-law's child.
When warm blood finally soaked through my skirt, I dialed the number I knew by heart with shaking hands.
"Zachary," I whispered into the phone, "our child... can't wait any longer."
The Kidney That Killed Me
A few months ago, my sister was hospitalized with kidney failure. The doctor said she needed a transplant. My family's first thought was me—the backup daughter they'd kept around all these years.
When my husband Allen took my hand with tears in his eyes and said, "Only you can save her," I agreed without hesitation.
When the doctor explained the surgical risks and potential complications, I smiled and nodded my understanding.
My parents said I'd finally learned what sisterly love meant.
Even Allen, who'd always been cold to me, held my hand gently and said, "The surgery's safe. You're so healthy, nothing will go wrong. When you recover, I'll take you to Hawaii."
But they don't know that no matter how the surgery goes, I won't be around to celebrate.
Because I just got my own test results—I have terminal brain cancer. I'm going to die anyway.
After the Affair: Falling into a Billionaire's Arms
From first crush to wedding vows, George Capulet and I had been inseparable. But in our seventh year of marriage, he began an affair with his secretary.
On my birthday, he took her on vacation. On our anniversary, he brought her to our home and made love to her in our bed...
Heartbroken, I tricked him into signing divorce papers.
George remained unconcerned, convinced I would never leave him.
His deceptions continued until the day the divorce was finalized. I threw the papers in his face: "George Capulet, from this moment on, get out of my life!"
Only then did panic flood his eyes as he begged me to stay.
When his calls bombarded my phone later that night, it wasn't me who answered, but my new boyfriend Julian.
"Don't you know," Julian chuckled into the receiver, "that a proper ex-boyfriend should be as quiet as the dead?"
George seethed through gritted teeth: "Put her on the phone!"
"I'm afraid that's impossible."
Julian dropped a gentle kiss on my sleeping form nestled against him. "She's exhausted. She just fell asleep."
Alpha Nicholas's Little Mate
What? No—wait… oh Moon Goddess, no.
Please tell me you're joking, Lex.
But she's not. I can feel her excitement bubbling under my skin, while all I feel is dread.
We turn the corner, and the scent hits me like a punch to the chest—cinnamon and something impossibly warm. My eyes scan the room until they land on him. Tall. Commanding. Beautiful.
And then, just as quickly… he sees me.
His expression twists.
"Fuck no."
He turns—and runs.
