Introduction

What if you fall in love with your stepfather?

Harley Aldana was merely 18 when she felt a sudden urge after meeting her mom's new husband Evo Montero. She knew that it was forbidden but when she saw how his gaze melts her, she couldn't focus on everything but only on him.
Can she control her urgency because she don't want to hurt her mom or she will accept the consequences afterward just to be with her hot and rich stepfather?

Chapter 1

P.S This story is based on true events. I used different names and locations to protect the owner's privacy.

"Forbidden"

  • banned or not allowed.

  • taboo

Harley scratches her head while facing her laptop. Their research is all about forbidden love and she was having difficulty comprehending their group topic.

"Urgh! Fuck! Shit! Why was Professor Lee loves giving us a hard topic?", she looks irritated while fidgeting with her pen on her hair.

" Sweetie! It's time for breakfast!", she heard her mom calling at her.

"Coming mom!", she replied as she got up from her bed.

Harley become independent even at a young age because her father died when she was ten. After her dad's death, her mom grieved for it and even close her heart to every man that wanted to take her hands. It's better than having a stone-hearted and harsh stepfather.

She sniffs deeply after she smelled the aroma of her favorite potato soup.

" hmmm, smells good mom. Let me guess, you cooked my fav soup right?", she said to her as she walked towards the dining table while wearing a wide smile on her face.

Margaret smiled back as she was carrying the bowl of soup to the table for her daughter.

She took off her cooking gloves and place them back on the kitchen hanging wall.

"Yes, of course. I noticed that you're having a hard time with your research. I just want to cheer you up." Her mom said as she sat on her chair.

Harley happily took her spoon and make a sip of her favorite potato soup. Seems like both of them are enjoying their breakfast when someone made a sudden knock.

Harley stop eating and started at her mother full of confusion on her face.

"Mom, do we have a visitor?", she asked her while Margaret quickly rose to fix herself.

She took off her apron and a nice dress appeared.

" Ahm, yeah. It's your uncle Evo I guess!", she's stuttering and blushing.

Harley started to become suspicious when her mom's face turned red like cherry because she's always lonely for eight years since her father died. She just rolled her eyes when her mom left her to open their main door.

She's hoping that it's not someone else who wanted to join their family but it's too late for that.

"Sweetie, I want you to meet your Uncle Evo." Harley's eyes didn't even flicker as she saw her mom's visitor instead she stood up and made a grumpy face towards her mom.

"Uncle? I thought all my dad's siblings were girls. You told me also mom that you're the only child in your family." Her voice rises and rushes to her room.

"Harley! You---", Margaret got mad and was about to stop her when Evo told her not to.

He shook his head and help her to calm down.

" Honey, just leave her alone for now. Maybe she's not ready yet to have a new father." After hearing those words from Evo Montero, her mom's boyfriend, Margaret noticed something.

"A new father? Oh, I don't know what you're saying. Were happy being like this besides you're a VIP person and I don't want me and my daughter involves in your luxurious life." Harley's mom mumbled but her eyes widened when Evo kneeled before her and took her left hand.

"Will you marry me, Margaret? Please, just say yes. I promise to keep you and your daughter out of the media!", he sounded so genuine but she's still on a roller coaster.

Margaret just met him in the supermarket when he helped her with her groceries until his sweet smile made her like him. It was love at first sight. She thought that she can't find another man other than Karl, her late husband but that day, he took her breath away. His cute dimples, sweet smile, and healthy body made her fall in love again. He took her number and then they started exchanging texts until he asked her out.

Margaret made several blinks while looking at the 24k diamond ring inserted into her ring finger.

" Oh, I --I think it's too sudden? I need to think about this first. I need to talk to my daughter first. I'm sorry Evo but this marriage proposal seems too unexpected for me. Can you give me one week to decide?", she didn't want to disappoint him but she didn't want to hurt Harley too.

Evo took a deep sigh after he heard about Margaret's answer.

He got up from his knees and pulled her against his chest. She felt a bit awkward about them being too close because they're not teenagers anymore.

"Hey, Evo, hmm not here. My daughter might see us!", she felt a bit uncomfortable but he won't listen to her.

Evo harshly pulled her face closer to him and slammed his thin lips upon her.

It was a gentle kiss and then his lips moves up to her forehead and planted a small kiss too.

" Relax, we're just kissing Margaret. I'll wait for your answer then. I think Harley will understand. She's a grown-up woman now and she loves you." He said and she just hoped that her sweetie will understand.

Harley POV

I can't believe that mom has a boyfriend. She didn't tell me about it. I'm mad because she's lying to me all this time. I thought I'm her only best friend and family and she promise me that she won't replace dad until her death but someone bombarded our house and introduce himself as her boyfriend?

I felt betrayed. It's been eight years since my father died of lung cancer and we both grieved for him. She didn't even eat her meals every day and she got sick because of it but I told her to get strong and that dad will stay with us in our hearts.

I went inside my room to lock myself. I don't want to meet him. When my eyes met him, I felt uncomfortable because he doesn't look so old. Wait, did I say, I'm pissed because he still looks young when my mom's age was 35. If he's 35 too, well he's still a hot oldy.

"Fuck!", I slap my face when I felt hotness on it.

I'm imagining filthy things inside my head. I shouldn't think about him because he can't come to our house anymore. I'll warn mom to break up with him because dad will get mad.

While I'm talking to myself, I heard mom calling my name. I took a glance at my door and she was twisting my knob so hard.

" Harley, sweetie, can I come in? Let's talk, please!", she begs for me but I'm still angry with her so I kept pushing her away.

"Just leave me alone for now, mom! I don't want to listen to what you will say because it's still about your secret boyfriend!", I shouted at my mom while covering my ears.

After two minutes mom stops banging by the door. I slowly took off my hands from my ears and went towards the door. I gently open it to see if mom left already. I took a deep breath while going back to my bed.

I know it's harsh for me to behave like that and I know that I hurt my mom's feelings but she can't blame me. We're the only one that is left and we were supposed to trust each other but she lied to me.

Maybe mom was thinking that I won't approve of it so she decided to keep it to herself but she only makes this situation difficult for both of us and me.

That night, I didn't sleep even a wink. I am asking myself if what I did was right until I realized that maybe that Evo guy can have a chance. I want mom to be happy so maybe I'll just talk to her.

I didn't have the chance to talk to him in person so I can't rate him yet whether he's a good man or not.

I walked downstairs and saw mom in the kitchen cooking our breakfast. I studied her first before calling her attention. She seems relaxed and just at ease. There's no sign of our yesterday's quarrel. I ambled closer and that's the moment she noticed me.

" Sweetie! You're up. Come, you eat now before it gets cold. You'll be late for school. " she told me.

Instead of answering her, I walked closer and wrapped my arms around her from her back, and lean my face on her shoulder

"I'm so sorry, mom. I'm just shocked and worried that you will replace dad in your heart for that guy whom you barely know." I told her.

Mom turned around and stares at me. She gently rubs my face with her hands.

"I understand you. You know Harley, your Uncle Evo is a good man. He can help us pay our debts. I can't tell you this but our money at the bank went almost empty. I don't know if you can go to college without him. He's asking me to marry him. I'm just waiting for your answer." I saw how her eyes shined before me. I never saw mom being happy and excited like this after dad died.

Maybe I'll give her a chance to be happy.

"Okay, mom. You have my blessing." I said with a smile.

Harley agreed about Mr. Montero's marriage proposal to her mom. In one week, everything was set except Evo's formal introduction to Margaret's daughter, Harley.

A new member of the family will arrive but can Harley and Margaret find happiness in this one?

Only then did panic flood his eyes as he begged me to stay.

When his calls bombarded my phone later that night, it wasn't me who answered, but my new boyfriend Julian.

"Don't you know," Julian chuckled into the receiver, "that a proper ex-boyfriend should be as quiet as the dead?"

George seethed through gritted teeth: "Put her on the phone!"

"I'm afraid that's impossible."

Julian dropped a gentle kiss on my sleeping form nestled against him. "She's exhausted. She just fell asleep."

That roar stole my eighteenth birthday and shattered my world. My first shift should have been glory—blood turned blessing into shame. By dawn they'd branded me "cursed": cast out by my pack, abandoned by family, stripped of my nature. My father didn't defend me—he sent me to a forsaken island where wolfless outcasts were forged into weapons, forced to kill each other until only one could leave.

One thing I know: now is the time.

Being second best is practically in my DNA. My sister got the love, the attention, the spotlight. And now, even her damn fiancé.
Technically, Rhys Granger was my fiancé now—billionaire, devastatingly hot, and a walking Wall Street wet dream. My parents shoved me into the engagement after Catherine disappeared, and honestly? I didn’t mind. I’d crushed on Rhys for years. This was my chance, right? My turn to be the chosen one?
Wrong.
One night, he slapped me. Over a mug. A stupid, chipped, ugly mug my sister gave him years ago. That’s when it hit me—he didn’t love me. He didn’t even see me. I was just a warm-bodied placeholder for the woman he actually wanted. And apparently, I wasn’t even worth as much as a glorified coffee cup.
So I slapped him right back, dumped his ass, and prepared for disaster—my parents losing their minds, Rhys throwing a billionaire tantrum, his terrifying family plotting my untimely demise.
Obviously, I needed alcohol. A lot of alcohol.
Enter him.
Tall, dangerous, unfairly hot. The kind of man who makes you want to sin just by existing. I’d met him only once before, and that night, he just happened to be at the same bar as my drunk, self-pitying self. So I did the only logical thing: I dragged him into a hotel room and ripped off his clothes.
It was reckless. It was stupid. It was completely ill-advised.
But it was also: Best. Sex. Of. My. Life.
And, as it turned out, the best decision I’d ever made.
Because my one-night stand isn’t just some random guy. He’s richer than Rhys, more powerful than my entire family, and definitely more dangerous than I should be playing with.
And now, he’s not letting me go.
