Chapter 1
"And this is it, the apartment you'll be staying in. Of course after you're done cleaning and clearing the place." The realtor said as he handed the keys to Derrick. "I hope so too, it really does give this sort of relaxing feeling y'know?" Derrick said as he adored the house and its surroundings. He could already tell that he was going to live in this place. It had an atmosphere that would calm him down from stressful days. The place seemed clean and very modern, it even had a great kitchen. As well as a living room with an entertainment system, he also loved the bathroom. In fact, everything about the house screamed cool. He wanted this house to be his new home for a while. He felt it could be a form of escape from all the events that transpired lately, In the span of 3 months he lost his parents in a house fire, it was the money left in his father's will he used in getting into the new apartment, he really hadn't been himself after the nasty breakup he had with Vanessa, his girlfriend as of recent. They had been broken up for three weeks but it felt like it was just yesterday when he found her on bed with his bestfriend Kyle cuddled up together. Now they were broken up and he felt lonely. Not only because he couldn't see or talk to Kyle anymore, but also because he didn't know what to do about the whole Vanessa thing. She was the girl who broke his heart and took away any happiness that he may have had left. When she broke up with him he knew things were over between them and never looked back. But since their break up she's called twice a week to apologize and tell him that there was something between them that could be resolved and if that meant breaking up with him then so be it. He wasn't interested at this point. But deep down, he knew he still longed for her touch and with every day that passed he felt even worse than before. Maybe he should've stayed in love with her...but he didn't want to get hurt again. So here he was, alone without anyone to turn to, no family, no friends, nobody. And it was killing him slowly. This time no one will fix him, he thought bitterly as he headed towards the bedroom.
Once he got on his bed, he began reminiscing on how things were with Vanessa when they started going out recently, their first kiss, their first date ; it wasn't long after he realised he began to tear up. He buried his head in his pillow as he began to cry bitterly . Why was everything falling apart right now? He couldn't take this anymore. He couldn't take anything anymore! His entire life was falling apart around him, he was starting to hate himself a lot more. As he kept sobbing the thought of ending it all crossed his mind, he scanned around his room till he found his utility knife on his reading table and without hesitation grabbed it with the intentions of slitting his wrist. "Nice and easy, it'll all be over in a blink." He said to himself. "You really are going to be a wuss and end yourself because of a woman? Pathetic" A voice said as he proceeded to cut himself.
