My Ex-Husband Cries for a Second Chance
Cherie · Ongoing · 114.6k Words
Introduction
When I confronted him, he disdainfully said, “You’re Mrs. Coldridge. Don’t take her seriously.” He might have thought I would continue to tolerate it like before. When I threw my ten-carat wedding ring into the trash and withdrew funding from the project he valued most, he finally understood that the Aurora Montague who loved him to the point of losing herself was already dead.
Chapter 1
A night in Emerald City, pouring rain.
Aurora Montague's car broke down by the roadside, just a hundred yards from the company.
She sat in the driver's seat, looking at the call log that had just ended on her phone.
Call duration: two seconds.
It had been hung up on her.
When she called back, it was already switched off.
Aurora tugged at the corner of her mouth slightly, her eyes devoid of warmth.
Just then, a black Maybach stopped not far away.
The license plate looked familiar—Aurora recognized it immediately.
This was the thirtieth birthday gift she'd given her husband, Simon Coldridge.
The car stopped, and a young woman quickly ran over. The girl was very young, without an umbrella, her thin frame shivering in the pouring rain, looking pitiful and fragile.
The next second, the man got out to open the car door for her.
The funny thing was, this gentleman had just rejected her call two minutes ago. Turns out he was busy picking up another woman.
And this woman was Blair Ember—the scholarship student she and Simon had been supporting for years, who he'd also brought into the company as an intern assistant.
The rain was heavy. Aurora couldn't see Simon's expression clearly.
But she could imagine it.
The usually aloof man must be looking at her with complete indulgence right now.
Sure enough, Simon reached out to brush aside the girl's soaked bangs, his movements incredibly gentle.
Aurora closed her eyes softly, unwilling to watch anymore.
Aurora didn't call for a tow truck.
She got out of the car and walked all the way back to Lakeside Bay Estates.
Back at her villa, Aurora went to take a shower.
She stood in front of the full-length mirror, reaching out to wipe away the fog on the mirror surface, quietly examining herself.
The woman in the mirror had delicate skin and a graceful figure.
Too bad those eyes carried the cold edge from years of fighting in the venture capital world, lacking the softness of a young girl.
And this body—Simon hadn't touched it in a long time.
He said he was busy.
Yeah, busy coaxing young girls, busy giving away the love that should have been hers to someone else.
Aurora took a quick shower and came out.
She picked up her phone and called her private lawyer, who was also her college classmate: "David, help me calculate the assets under my name and my husband's name. Also, draft a divorce agreement."
David Miller on the other end was shocked and couldn't believe it.
After all, he knew that Aurora, the genius venture capitalist, was crazy about Simon. Years ago, to help that man climb to the top, she'd willingly handed him one sure-win deal after another.
You could say that half of Simon's current status as a business rising star was built up by Aurora.
David asked her what happened. Aurora snapped back to reality, her voice flat: "Nothing much. Just got bored of playing."
After hanging up, she sat on the sofa by the floor-to-ceiling window.
She remembered their wedding night when Simon had sworn: Aurora, you're my lucky star. I'll never let you down in this lifetime.
Men's promises—just listen and forget.
Whoever takes them seriously loses.
Simon enjoyed everything she gave him. He even thought that without him, Aurora would be nothing.
Now, there was one more thing to add—
Taking their marital assets to support those other women out there.
How ridiculous.
She dialed the company's CFO on the internal line.
"Ms. Montague." The other end answered respectfully.
Even though she'd stepped back, in the team's eyes, she was still the backbone.
Aurora spoke: "Pass the word—pull the funding back from that Amber District project."
That was the project Simon valued most recently.
Probably something he'd put a lot of money into to make Blair happy—a cultural tourism project in Blair's hometown, after all.
The CFO hesitated: "But Mr. Coldridge's side..."
"Do as I say." Aurora cut him off. "This money came from my private venture capital account. I have the right to stop it anytime."
Sure enough, less than half an hour after doing this, Simon came back.
He was wearing just a white shirt, collar slightly open, his collarbone faintly visible.
That noble, handsome face was now covered in dark clouds.
Simon strode in and slammed a document heavily on the coffee table, his voice cold and deep: "Aurora, you pulled the Amber District project funding just like that? Do you know how much this will cost the Coldridge Group?"
Aurora looked up, her expression calm as she looked at this man she'd loved for years: "Mr. Coldridge, are you questioning me?"
Simon froze.
He was used to Aurora's compliance and devotion.
In their three years of marriage, she'd been the virtuous Mrs. Coldridge at home, never speaking to him in such a distant tone.
Simon took a deep breath, suppressing his anger.
He thought Aurora was throwing a tantrum.
Probably because she knew he'd driven Blair home tonight and was jealous.
Women—just humor them a bit.
Simon softened his expression and walked over to sit beside her, his expressive eyes gazing at her: "Alright, I know hanging up on you tonight was wrong. Blair didn't have an umbrella and couldn't get a cab. I was just giving her a ride. You're my wife—don't worry about some young girl."
As he spoke, he leaned closer.
Simon reached out, wanting to hold her. "Restore the project funding, and I'll keep you good company tonight, okay?"
His hand had just touched Aurora's bathrobe—
"Don't touch me!"
Aurora jerked away, the disgust in her eyes undisguised.
Simon's hand froze in mid-air.
He looked at Aurora, his dark eyes narrowing: "Aurora, what are you being dramatic about? I'm your husband."
"Husband?"
Aurora stood up.
"Simon, do you think I can't live without you? Do you think that me building you up, giving you resources—it's all because I'm pathetic?"
Simon's face darkened: "I didn't say that, but Aurora, you did help me succeed."
Help him succeed.
What a way to put it.
Aurora laughed, but her eyes were ice-cold.
So in his eyes, all her painstaking efforts were just an optional decoration.
She didn't want to endure it anymore.
Looking at that face, she only felt sick.
Especially thinking that just a few hours ago, that mouth might have kissed another woman, those hands might have held another woman.
Aurora walked to the bedside table, pulled open the drawer, and took out a ring.
It was their wedding ring.
Clink.
The ten-carat diamond ring was instantly tossed into the trash can.
Simon's pupils contracted sharply: "What are you doing?"
Aurora turned around, looking directly into his eyes, enunciating each word:
"Simon, let's get divorced."

The CEO's Unspoken Love
Before I could answer, he moved closer, suddenly looming over me, his face inches from mine. I felt my breath caught, my lips parting in surprise.
"Then this is the price for speaking ill of me to others," he murmured, nipping my lower lip before claiming my mouth in a real kiss. It began as punishment but quickly transformed into something else entirely as I responded, my initial rigidity melting into compliance, then active participation.
My breathing accelerated, small sounds escaping my throat as he explored my body. His touches were both punishment and pleasure, drawing shudders from me that I thought he felt reverberating through his own body.

Only then did panic flood his eyes as he begged me to stay.
When his calls bombarded my phone later that night, it wasn't me who answered, but my new boyfriend Julian.
"Don't you know," Julian chuckled into the receiver, "that a proper ex-boyfriend should be as quiet as the dead?"
George seethed through gritted teeth: "Put her on the phone!"
"I'm afraid that's impossible."
Julian dropped a gentle kiss on my sleeping form nestled against him. "She's exhausted. She just fell asleep."
