Pregnant and Rejected - I Will Take Back What's Mine, Alpha
M.L. Bane · Ongoing · 71.2k Words
Introduction
As if by instinct, I slide my palm onto my pregnant belly, and was about to tell him about our pup when he turns around, and looks at me.
The look in his eyes was pure, utter hatred. He had never looked at me like that before. He only ever looked at me with loving, gentle eyes, saying that we will soon elope and start a family together.
Now, it has come true, but I'm unsure how to break the news to him when his gaze burns intensely with rage aimed straight at me. His body language has changed, as if he's about to lunge at me and rip me apart, making my heartrate pick up as I stare at him.
"Jax?" I swallow, but the moment he takes a predatory step forward, I find myself stepping back.
"Because I, Jax Arson, hereby reject you, Aria Wales, as my mate!"
Almost in an instant, the most excruciating pain ripped through me unexpectedly. The shock of his words more painful than the rejection itself, because he promised...
The pain was too much to bear. It makes me fall on my knees, clutching the ground as wave after wave of unimaginable pain leaves me gasping for air. Sharp claws extend from my fingers and I began clawing at my chest. I can't stop even if I wanted to, worried it might hurt the baby yet I had no control. It feels like I was desperately trying to tear my heart out of my chest, and I cry out painfully before I hear his next words.
"For the sake of what we had, I suggest you leave Black Shadow Pack. You have three days."
Chapter 1
PREGNANT AND BETRAYED - I WILL TAKE BACK WHAT'S MINE, ALPHA
Aria
"Alpha, your daughter is pregnant," the doctor says.
I gulp. My entire body is shivering with delight but also fear.
"What did you say?" My Dad, Alpha Kai of Black Shadow Pack, our pack, rose slowly from his chair.
My mother, Luna Scarlet, looks over at me in shock.
I just turned eighteen and two weeks after my birthday, I started to feel sick to my stomach for a week straight. My parents were worried I might have eaten something strange again out in the woods, since I spend most of my time there. Every morning, I rushed to the toilet and spew out my guts and afterwards, I felt nauseous. I didn't want to think much of it, because I was hoping I was wrong.
Clearly, I was right all along. Call it a mother's instincts? But I had a strong feeling...
I'm pregnant! But... I've only had sex once...
And that's when I found out who my mate was...
This news was not what I was expecting, but if filled me with joy nonetheless. But the overflowing happiness that filled my heart quickly dissipated, as my father stood before me on my bed. He towered over me like a storm taking over the bright sky, and I gulp, squeezing my eyes shut as I awaited for his hand to connect with my face. He must be so disappointed.
"I'm going to be a grandpa?" Instead, I hear him say.
I blink up at my Dad just as he pulled me in his big, bulky arms. I choked out a sob, not expecting this reaction.
Even my Mom, who stood in her seat, rushed to my side and kissed my forehead, whispering sweet-nothings to my ear.
The doctor excused himself after that.
Once we were alone, Dad pulled away a few moments later. The smile still etched onto his face, but I'm afraid he will not be smiling if he knows who the father is.
"So, tell us. Who is this lucky man? Is he your mate?" My mom asks, and my hearts starts to pound faster in my chest. I gulp.
"Yes," I admit.
"So, who is he?" Dad asks expectantly.
I open and close my mouth like a fish, unable to get the words out.
"He's your mate, right? I know you, Aria. You wouldn't give yourself to someone who isn't your mate." Dad drawls.
Once again, I gulp. He's right. Mates are sacred to us, no matter who they were, even if they were rogue.
"You can tell us, sweetie. You can't hide him in the closet forever," my mom giggles. I wish I could share her humour in this situation, but I couldn't.
Taking a deep breath, I was about to tell them who the father was when their eyes glazed over.
A curse slips from dad's lips, and mom sighs, looking rather tired.
Their eyes returned to normal and they both sigh as they look at me.
"We have a situation. Rogues are seen near our borders, again. We'll come back and finish this conversation."
Without another word, mom and dad quickly left the room.
'What are we going to do?' Ella, my wolf, asks in trepidation.
I hang my head.
'You heard him. He wants nothing to do with us anymore,' I tell her, recalling the last time we met and found out we were mates, which explained the connection we had in the first place. It ended up with the rejection he had tried so hard to conjure going south because neither of us are able to resist the bond, no matter how much he wanted to.
'But he didn't reject us. Our pup deserves a father like him and you know it. Once we tell him we are with child, he'll come around. You'll see,' Ella says.
Looking down at my belly, I rub my hand over it, wanting to feel the baby. It made it feel more real.
'And if he doesn't show up?'
'We have to try.' Ella counters.
I close my eyes and lean back against my headrest, hoping she was right.
Here goes nothing.
I reach for his mind link. I have contemplated using it several times, but each time I try, I pull away. Since he was my mate, I could reach him unlike then when we would only meet on scheduled times, at the exact same spot we met as children. Only from two different worlds.
I tug once, twice, and as soon as I felt him open up on his end, I speak.
'Jax?' My voice came out weak.
My heart was beating dangerously fast.
When he doesn't answer, I continue.
'Can we talk? In person,'
'Why?' He finally speaks, and my heart melts hearing his voice. It's been a while since we last spoke. I must admit, even his voice sends shivers of delight down my spine.
I swallow, 'I have to tell you something,' I pause, 'it's important.'
Or rather, life-changing. But of course, I didn't tell him that directly.
He stays silent on the other end of the link, and I gulp, nervously fiddling with my thumb. My hand rested on my belly, our pup.
'Okay,' he finally agrees, and I just know my eyes lit up.
'Can we meet by the old oak tree?' I ask.
He doesn't answer right away, and I could feel his hesitation, probably through the mate bond.
In the end, he agreed.
But what he doesn't know, is that I have a reason for wanting to meet him so close to the pack house. I want him to meet my parents, the Alpha and Luna of Black Creek pack, as my mate.
My rogue, alpha mate.
And I could only hope they don't kill him at first sight.
