Introduction

They destroyed his father. Now he's riding straight into the heart of enemy territory.

Zed Chen has one rule never let them see your face. As the underground racing legend Ghost Rider, he's untouchable until a rigged race tears off his mask and exposes his identity to the worst possible person. Dax Steele, VP of the Iron Wolves MC. The club that bankrupted his father and drove him to an early grave.

Now he owes $50,000 to men who don't accept apologies, and Dax offers him a deal he can't refuse race for the Iron Wolves in the inter-club championship and she'll clear his debt. But working for his enemy means living in her world, sleeping under her roof, and discovering that everything he believed about his father's death might be a lie.

Dax has secrets of her own. Two years of evidence. A corrupt mother. And a mission that needs exactly one thing she doesn't have a rider good enough to win.

They don't trust each other. They don't have to. They just have to survive long enough to bring down the people who destroyed them both.

In the biker world, loyalty is everything. But some debts aren't paid with money.

They're paid with the truth.

Chapter 1

They say you can't outrun your past on two wheels, but I was about to prove them wrong until the woman who destroyed my father's legacy pulled up beside me at 90 miles per hour.

The engine beneath me roared like a caged beast as I leaned into the turn, my knee nearly scraping asphalt. Wind screamed past my helmet, carrying the acrid smell of burning rubber and gasoline. This was freedom. This was power. This was the only place where Zed Chen, struggling mechanic and daddy's disappointing son, didn't exist.

Here, I was Ghost Rider.

The motorcycle beneath me, a custom Ducati I'd rebuilt from salvage, responded to my every touch like an extension of my body. I'd spent three years perfecting her, using every spare dollar I could scrape together from my day job at Murphy's Garage. Murphy paid me less than I deserved, but I couldn't complain. Jobs were scarce when your last name was Chen and everyone in Coldwater knew your father died owing money to half the town.

The straightaway opened up before me, and I twisted the throttle. The speedometer climbed at eighty, ninety, one hundred. My competitor, a rider on a Yamaha R1 who went by "Razor," was half a bike length behind. I could feel his frustration radiating through the night air. He'd been winning these underground races for six months straight until Ghost Rider appeared three months ago.

He had no idea who Ghost Rider really was. None of them did.

That was the point.

The final turn approached, a sharp chicane that separated the winners from the wrecks. I'd memorized every inch of this abandoned airstrip outside town, knew exactly where the asphalt cracked and where oil stains made the surface treacherous. I braked hard, downshifted, and dove into the turn.

That's when I felt something was wrong with my helmet strap.

The cheap clasp I'd been meaning to replace finally gave up. The helmet shifted on my head, the visor tilting. I couldn't see clearly. Panic shot through me, but I couldn't slow down now, not this close to the finish line. I'd lose everything, the five thousand dollar purse I desperately needed to make this month's payments on Dad's debts.

I crossed the finish line first, but the helmet was sliding backward. My hands flew up instinctively to catch it, and the bike wobbled. I managed to regain control and slow down, but it was too late.

The helmet tumbled from my grip.

I brought the Ducati to a stop. The crowd of spectators, rough men and women who bet on these illegal races, fell silent. In the sudden quiet, I could hear my heart hammering against my ribs.

"Holy shit," someone breathed. "Ghost Rider's just a kid?"

I turned slowly, meeting dozens of stares. Some shocked. Some angry. Some calculating in a way that made my skin crawl. I'd been so careful for months, and now everything was ruined in one moment of mechanical failure.

Then I heard the sound that made my blood run cold. The deep rumble of multiple motorcycles approaching. Heavy bikes. Harleys, from the sound of them. The crowd parted like the Red Sea as five riders rolled into the circle of light cast by the spectators' headlights.

The lead rider dismounted with predatory grace. Even in the dim light, I recognized her. Everyone in Coldwater knew Dax Steele. Lean and dangerous in head-to-toe leather, dark hair pulled back in a knot, and eyes that could cut through steel. The Vice President of the Iron Wolves Motorcycle Club.

The club that destroyed my father.

"Well, well," Dax drawled, her voice carrying across the silent crowd. "Ghost Rider finally shows his face. Or should I say, Zed Chen shows his?"

My stomach dropped. She knew who I was. Of course she did. In a town this small, everyone knew everyone's business.

"Problem, Steele?" I forced my voice steady, even as my hands trembled.

She walked toward me with the confidence of a woman who owned the ground she walked on. "Just enjoying the show. You've got skills, I'll give you that. Your old man taught you well before he "

"Don't." The word came out sharp as a blade. "Don't you dare talk about my father."

Something flickered in Dax's eyes. Surprise, maybe. Or respect. It vanished as quickly as it appeared.

The race organizer, a wiry man named Snake, pushed through the crowd. His face was flushed, angry. "We got a problem here, Ghost Rider. Turns out Razor had a tracker on your bike. Claims you knew the course ahead of time, that you sabotaged his engine at the starting line."

"That's bullshit," I snapped. "I won fair and square."

"Tracker don't lie, boy." Snake crossed his arms. "Shows you riding this course three nights ago, practicing. That's against the rules. And Razor's bike? Somebody loosened his brake line just enough to make him cautious on the turns."

Ice flooded my veins. "I didn't touch his bike. I've never cheated in my life."

"Convenient that your helmet just happened to fall off after you won," Razor spat, pushing forward. His face was twisted with rage. "Probably planned it that way, figured playing the sympathy card would save you."

The crowd's mood shifted. I could feel it like a physical thing, the anger, the sense of betrayal. These people had bet money on Ghost Rider, had built the mysterious racer up into a legend. Finding out that legend was some unknown kid was bad enough. Finding out he might be a cheater? That was unforgivable.

"You know the penalty for cheating," Snake said. His hand moved to his belt, where I knew he carried a knife. "You pay back everyone who bet on you. That's about fifty grand, give or take."

Fifty thousand dollars. I barely had fifty dollars in my bank account.

"I don't have that kind of money," I said quietly.

"Then we got a problem." Snake stepped closer. "Because one way or another, you're gonna pay."

The Iron Wolves moved almost imperceptibly, forming a loose circle around the scene. Dax hadn't moved, but her eyes tracked everything. I couldn't read her expression.

"I'll give you seventy-two hours," Snake continued. "You bring me fifty grand, or we take it out of your hide. And that little garage you work at? Might have some unfortunate accidents."

My mind raced. Murphy's Garage was barely staying afloat as it was. If anything happened to it, Murphy and his family would be ruined. And I knew Snake wasn't bluffing. These people didn't make idle threats.

"I need more time," I tried.

"Seventy-two hours," Snake repeated. "Starting now."

The crowd began to disperse, muttering among themselves. Razor shot me a triumphant sneer before climbing back on his Yamaha. I stood there, alone except for my Ducati and the bitter taste of desperation.

Almost alone.

Dax Steele hadn't moved. She watched me with those cold dark eyes, her expression unreadable.

"Something you want, Steele?" I asked, too tired and scared to be properly cautious.

She tilted her head slightly. "Maybe I have a solution to your problem."

"I don't need anything from an Iron Wolf."

"Fifty thousand dollars says otherwise." She pulled out a cigarette, lit it. "Meet me tomorrow. Murphy's Garage. Noon. Come alone."

"Why would I."

"Because, Zed Chen," she interrupted, exhaling smoke, "you're out of options. And because despite what you think you know about me, about my club, about what happened to your father you don't know the whole story."

She climbed back on her Harley, the engine roaring to life.

"Noon tomorrow," she called over the rumble. "Or start running. Though we both know you can't outrun this debt."

Then she was gone, her club following like a pack of wolves, leaving me alone in the darkness with a broken helmet and a debt I could never pay.

But when that same stranger's doctor appeared at my door, when twenty million dollars exchanged hands over a fake perfume bearing my secret identity, and when Damon's gray eyes locked onto mine with recognition I couldn't afford, I realized my carefully hidden life as the legendary perfumer Vera was colliding with a pregnancy that could cost me everything.

Could I protect my babies from the husband plotting my death, hide my true identity from the Alpha who's been hunting me for years, and reclaim the freedom I'd buried along with my dreams—even if it means standing alone against the wolves who see me as nothing more than a womb to be used and discarded?

I thought I was waiting for love. Instead, I got fucked by a beast.

My world was supposed to bloom at the Moonshade Bay Full Moon Festival—champagne buzzing in my veins, a hotel room booked for Jason and me to finally cross that line after two years. I’d slipped into lacy lingerie, left the door unlocked, and lay on the bed, heart pounding with nervous excitement.

But the man who climbed into my bed wasn’t Jason.

In the pitch-black room, drowned in a heady, spicy scent that made my head spin, I felt hands—urgent, scorching—searing my skin. His thick, pulsing cock pressed against my dripping cunt, and before I could gasp, he thrust hard, tearing through my innocence with ruthless force. Pain burned, my walls clenching as I clawed at his iron shoulders, stifling sobs. Wet, slick sounds echoed with every brutal stroke, his body unrelenting until he shuddered, spilling hot and deep inside me.

"That was amazing, Jason," I managed to say.

"Who the fuck is Jason?"

My blood turned to ice. Light slashed across his face—Brad Rayne, Alpha of Moonshade Pack, a werewolf, not my boyfriend. Horror choked me as I realized what I’d done.

I ran away for my life!

But weeks later, I woke up pregnant with his heir!

They say my heterochromatic eyes mark me as a rare true mate. But I’m no wolf. I’m just Elle, a nobody from the human district, now trapped in Brad's world.

Brad’s cold gaze pins me: “You carry my blood. You’re mine.”

There is no other choice for me but to chose this cage. My body also betrays me, craving the beast who ruined me.
