The Mafia Heiress They Could Never Find
Lyric Ross · Ongoing · 8.9k Words
Introduction
Before I could answer, my four childhood friends spoke up one after another.
One by one, all four showed me documents proving they were moving to California.
Then Graham Whitmore, heir to one of Chicago's most powerful Mafia families, pushed my research agreement toward me.
"Come with us, Georgie. Once we're settled in California, I'll marry you."
I'd loved him for years. So I signed.
Two weeks later, I accidentally discovered another group chat projected onto the wall of the Callahan estate.
Did Georgiana sign?
Yeah. Four fake job offers were all it took to get her out of Chicago.
Once she's gone, Sloane can finally take her place.
Graham's making the biggest sacrifice. He has to pretend he wants to marry her until she leaves.
The truth was, none of them had ever planned to leave Chicago.
After Sloane returned, I'd already considered leaving the family. But the four of them had promised that nothing between us would change.
I'd believed them.
What they didn't know was that my professor had invited me to join a classified federal weapons research project, with no personal communication permitted during the closed research period.
In forty-eight hours, I'd be leaving Chicago.
They'd worked so hard to make room for Sloane.
Soon, they'd have all the room they wanted.
Chapter 1
On the night of my college graduation, Sloane Callahan, the biological daughter my Mafia family had only recently brought home, asked me what I planned to do next.
【Did Georgiana sign?】
【Yeah. Four fake job offers were all it took to get her out of Chicago.】
【Once she's gone, Sloane can finally take her place.】
【Graham's making the biggest sacrifice. He has to pretend he wants to marry her until she leaves.】
Soon, they'd have all the room they wanted.
...
I was still photographing the messages when five people entered the study.
Graham stopped first. Behind him stood Bennett Hayes, Wesley Mercer, Reid Sullivan, and Sloane.
Nobody asked why I was reading their conversation.
Graham simply loosened his tie.
"You weren't supposed to find out this way."
"Which way would have been better?" I asked. "After my plane took off?"
Sloane lowered her eyes.
Graham's expression hardened.
"She spent twenty-three years without knowing her real family. You had the Callahan name, their protection, and everything that came with it. Can't you give her some room?"
Three months ago, I'd learned that a hospital error had made the Callahans believe I was their daughter.
For twenty-three years, I'd lived in the Callahan estate as Georgiana Callahan.
My father was the head of the family, one of Chicago's most powerful crime syndicates. I grew up surrounded by armed guards, private drivers, locked gates, and men who disappeared into my father's study whenever business turned ugly.
Then Sloane came home.
The biological daughter the Callahans had lost as a baby had finally been found.
At first, I'd tried to make things easy for her.
I gave her the bedroom she'd always dreamed of having. I stopped sitting beside Dad at dinner. I even told the household staff that if they wanted to call her Miss Callahan, I didn't mind.
I knew she had lost twenty-three years with her family.
I didn't want to make her lose another day.
But apparently, that still wasn't enough.
My portrait had disappeared from the main hallway.
Sloane's had taken its place.
The seat beside Dad now belonged to her.
And the four men who had once treated my presence as something permanent had quietly started making plans around her.
I pointed at the projected messages.
"Who arranged the four fake offers?"
"I did," Graham said.
He didn't even try to deny it.
Bennett stepped forward.
"Georgie, nobody wanted to hurt you."
"Then why lie?"
"Because you would have refused."
Wesley sighed.
As the attorney for the Whitmore family, he was always the calmest of the four.
"You've wanted to work in weapons research for years. Professor Ellis offered you a place in California. We knew you'd eventually take it."
"You didn't know. You decided for me."
Reid folded his arms.
He handled security for the Callahans and rarely showed emotion.
"You'll be better off away from all this."
I looked at him.
"Away from the family?"
He didn't answer.
That silence told me enough.
Graham finally spoke.
"Sloane just came back. The family is already dealing with the fallout. There are people watching her, people questioning whether she's really going to inherit her place here."
His voice lowered.
"We couldn't risk making things harder for her."
So that was it.
In their world, blood mattered.
A returned daughter had a claim to the Callahan name.
A girl who had spent twenty-three years wearing that name was suddenly a complication.
I looked at Graham.
"And the marriage proposal?"
His jaw tightened.
"You've loved me for years. I knew you'd follow me if you thought I was going to California."
"So you used that."
"I was trying to give you a reason to go."
"By promising me a future you never intended to give me?"
His silence was answer enough.
Sloane's eyes filled with tears.
"This is my fault. I'll leave. Georgie can stay."
Graham immediately turned toward her.
"No."
Bennett handed her a glass of water.
Reid pulled out a chair.
Wesley told her she didn't need to worry.
I stood there unnoticed.
I'd spent years believing that made us family.
Now I understood it had only been convenient.
I took off my coat.
"I'm leaving."
Graham frowned.
"Where?"
"Home."
"This is your home."
I looked around the study.
The Callahan crest hung above the fireplace.
For the first time, it didn't feel like mine.
I took the gold pendant from my neck.
The family crest was engraved on the front. My name was carved into the back.
Dad had given it to me when I was ten.
I placed it on the table.
"Sloane should have it."
Graham stared at me.
"Georgie, don't do this."
"Do what?"
"Act like we're strangers."
Once, he'd built an app called Always Five for the five of us.
It shared our locations and sent an emergency alert if any of us was in danger.
He'd sworn we'd never lose each other.
Since Sloane came home, none of them had opened it.
They had a new group chat instead.
I slipped my coat on.
"Things change."
Then I walked out.
Outside, my phone vibrated.
Professor Ellis had sent the final confirmation.
Your security clearance has been approved.
Departure is scheduled for forty-eight hours from now.
The classified weapons research assignment will last five years. Personal communications will be suspended during deployment.
Please confirm acceptance.
I stared at the screen.
Graham thought he'd convinced me to take a normal job three thousand miles away.
He didn't know what I'd actually signed.
I pressed Confirm.
For the first time since Sloane came home, I made a decision without asking any of them what they wanted.

Bride To The Werewolf King
The Softest Chains
Filled, Owned, and Fucked by My Best Friend’s Father
He was supposed to be off-limits. Untouchable. The kind of man you only fantasize about when you’re alone in the dark with your hand between your thighs.
But the night I caught him eating another woman alive by the pool, I couldn’t look away.
And he knew it.
The moment his dark eyes locked on mine through the glass, I became prey. His filthy smirk promised one thing—he saw me touching myself to him, and he wasn’t about to let me forget it.
Now, every time I’m in his house, I can’t breathe without thinking of his mouth between my legs.
I left my cheating boyfriend behind, only to fall into something even more dangerous:
a man who could ruin me, break me, and make me beg for his cock while his own daughter sleeps in the next room.
He’s too old. Too powerful. Too forbidden.
But Gianni doesn’t ask—he takes.
And I don’t want him to stop.
Love's Deadly Equation
I was sent to her.
To watch her. To protect her. And, when the order comes… to kill her.
My name is Keegan Caffery. I’m the Carter Mafia’s best hitman. I don’t miss. I don’t fail.
At least, I didn’t use to.
I don’t know what it is about her that got to me first—her mouth, her mind, or the way she looks at me like I’m not what she should fear.
I’ve had a gun to her head since I walked into her life.
She knows it.
And she still doesn’t run.
She just watches me back like she’s studying a problem she refuses to call impossible.
She’s the one variable I can’t control.
And God help me… I don’t want to.
I have an order. I have loyalty. I have a trigger.
But every time I imagine it—
I can’t stand it.
Her or me. That’s the math.
It’s a deadly equation I don’t want to solve.
⬥ Maisie ⬥
I’m not ordinary. I stopped pretending long ago.
My name is Maisie Seo. IQ 145. Clinical genius.
Which sounds impressive until you realize what it actually means: I don’t fit anywhere people expect me to.
I see patterns everywhere. Outcomes before they happen. People like equations I’ve already solved.
It gets lonely in a world you’ve already figured out.
So I dull myself down. Smoke the edges off. Pretend, badly, to be the kind of normal that lets people stay.
Then he walked in.
I knew what he was immediately. Dangerous. Intentional. Wrong in all the right ways.
I should be afraid of him.
I keep waiting for that to kick in.
Instead, I’m fascinated.
Because for the first time in my life… I’ve found something I can’t solve.
He is my deadly equation.
