Claimed by two Alphas: The ice king reborn mate
Meshael Eluchie · Ongoing · 30.3k Words
Introduction
The word echoed through Aurora Ashford's soul.
She looked up, heart pounding, eyes fixed on the one man she'd spent years hating.
"Nolan..." she whispered.
His icy blue eyes met hers for only a second before he smiled—a cruel, mocking smile.
"I'd rather die than accept a weakling like you as my Luna."
With those words, he rejected her.
The bond shattered.
Her heart broke.
And twelve hours later...
She died
When Aurora opens her eyes again, she's back twelve hours before her rejection.
This time, she won't cry.
She won't beg.
And she definitely won't chase the future Alpha who discarded her like she was nothing.
"If you don't want me," she vows, "you'll never have me."
But fate isn't finished with her.
Days later, her mother marries Nolan's father, forcing Aurora to live under the same roof as the man who destroyed her heart.
As if that weren't enough, one reckless kiss with a devastatingly handsome stranger changes everything.
"You're my mate," the stranger says with a grin. "And unlike that idiot, I'm not letting you go."
Damien Volkov.
Future Alpha. Nolan's greatest rival.
Her... second mate.
Now two Alpha Kings are fighting for the same woman, while an ancient conspiracy buried beneath Northcrest Academy begins to unravel. Students are disappearing. Secret experiments are being conducted beneath the school. And the man everyone calls a hero may be the monster behind it all.
When the truth about Aurora's bloodline is finally revealed, the girl everyone mocked becomes the one person powerful enough to change the werewolf world forever.
Because Aurora Ashford was never meant to be an ordinary wolf.
She was born to become its queen.
Chapter 1
Aurora's POV
The graveyard was the last place I expected to see someone who would make my heart flutter.
I had been nine years old and convinced, in the way only children can be, that grief was supposed to look a certain way. Loud and messy. Weeping relatives and black umbrellas and someone fainting dramatically near the coffin. What nobody had warned me about was the silence.
My mother's grip tightened around my hand until I could feel my own pulse in my fingers. I had not cried yet. I was saving it. If I started, I would not stop, and stopping felt like the one thing I could control while everything else collapsed around me.
So I looked across the mourning field instead.
And that was when I saw him.
He stood behind his father in a black jacket and black tie, with an expression so grim it looked borrowed from someone twice his age. He could not have been older than ten, maybe eleven, but there was nothing childlike about the way he held himself. He wasn't fidgeting.
His eyes found mine before I could look away.
Blue. Startlingly, unreasonably blue.
For one moment, the funeral disappeared. The silence disappeared. My mother's grip disappeared. There was only that steady gaze, belonging to a boy I would later learn was Nolan Blackwood. Son of Alpha Victor Blackwood.
He did not smile. I did not smile either.
I thought about those eyes for weeks afterward.
I prayed to the Moon Goddess twice that year. The first prayer was to bring my father back. The second was far less dignified. I was nine and grieving and apparently also shallow, because the second prayer was to see that blue-eyed boy again.
The Moon Goddess ignored the first prayer entirely.
The second one she answered with the enthusiasm of someone who had been waiting to ruin my life.
"Northcrest's Maid Service. Right on schedule."
The books hit the floor before I had time to react. Every single one of them. Scattered across the hallway while the surrounding students erupted into laughter that bounced off the lockers.
I did not look up immediately. Looking up was exactly what he wanted.
So I crouched down and began collecting my things.
"You dropped something," Nolan said above me.
"Observant," I said to the floor. "You should consider a career in journalism."
The laughter shifted slightly.
I gathered my planner last and stood up. Nolan was already half-turned away, flanked by the usual collection of broad shoulders and empty expressions. He spared me one glance over his shoulder. Then he walked away.
I watched him go and thought, not for the first time, that the Moon Goddess owed me a very serious apology.
Walking into Northcrest Academy eight months ago on a scholarship was the only way I could continue my education without obstacles.
My father had been friends with Alpha Victor Blackwood once. Close friends, by all accounts. When my father died, Victor sponsored everything. Tuition, boarding, uniform. Every material thing a girl needed to attend the most prestigious pack academy in the region.
What the scholarship did not cover was social survival.
Northcrest operated on a certain hierarchy. Bloodline first. Rank second. Everything else was decoration. I had no wolf, no rank, no family name that meant anything within these walls. What I had was a scholarship with Victor Blackwood's name on it, which placed me in the uniquely uncomfortable position of owing my education to the father of the boy who had appointed himself my personal tormentor.
Nolan had noticed me within the first week. Not the way I had once, foolishly, hoped he might. By the second week I was already a running joke. By the third, I had a nickname.
Northcrest's Maid Service.
Biology class was, statistically, one of the better hours of my day.
Mr. Hayes liked facts more than he liked people, which meant the classroom operated on a meritocracy that the rest of Northcrest rejected entirely. If you knew the answer, you gave it.
Nolan sat three rows ahead of me and slightly to the left.
"What's the actual point of this?" He leaned back in his chair, arms crossed, addressing Mr. Hayes with the confidence of someone who had never once worried about a grade. "We already know wolves heal faster than humans. Why are we studying the cellular mechanics?"
Mr. Hayes looked at him over the rim of his glasses. "Because understanding the mechanism is different from observing the outcome, Mr. Blackwood."
"Sounds like extra steps."
Someone laughed. Someone always laughed.
Mr. Hayes set down his marker. "Can anyone explain to Mr. Blackwood why cellular regeneration rates matter beyond surface-level healing observation?"
The class went quiet, they'd decided that embarrassing Nolan Blackwood was not worth whatever came after.
I raised my hand.
"Accelerated cellular regeneration in wolves operates on a mitochondrial level," I said, keeping my voice even. "Energy production is redirected during physical trauma to prioritize tissue repair. The rate of regeneration directly correlates with overall pack strength. An Alpha who does not understand why his wolves heal cannot identify when that healing begins to fail." I paused just long enough. "Which matters. Especially for those of us hoping to lead something one day."
Mr. Hayes looked deeply satisfied. "Precise and thorough, Miss Ashford."
I sat back down.
Nolan did not turn around. But his shoulders made a small, controlled adjustment.
He understood exactly what I had done.
Good.
"You have a death wish," Sienna whispered, sliding into the seat beside me.
Sienna had been my first and only friend at Northcrest. She had appeared during my second week, sat down without asking, stolen one of my fries, and said, "You look like someone who needs a friend more than you need those fries." She had been right on both counts.
"I have a Biology grade," I said. "There is a difference."
"Melanie saw everything."
Across the classroom, Melanie Carr sat beside the window, blonde and polished, directing a look at me that would have made a lesser person reconsider their life choices. Nolan's girlfriend. The civilian enforcement branch of whatever he could not be bothered to execute personally.
"She is staring at me," I said.
"Four minutes now."
"Flattering. I did not think I was interesting enough to hold her attention that long."
Sienna grabbed my arm. "Aurora. The last girl who publicly showed up Nolan transferred before the semester was over."
"Transferring or fleeing?"
"Does the distinction matter?"
"Probably not."
"She is going to come for you."
"Nolan does not hit women. You've told me this yourself. So technically, Melanie is doing me a favor by handling the job he outsources." I considered this. "I find that very progressive of her."
Sienna pressed her face into her hands.
I took that as agreement.
The final bell released the academy in a wave of conversation and footsteps.
I took my time packing my bag. Experience had taught me that leaving a classroom alongside everyone else only increased the chances of someone deciding I looked particularly punchable today.
I waited until the room had nearly emptied before slipping my notebook inside my backpack.
"Leaving already?"
I looked up.
Melanie Carr leaned against the doorway with the kind of effortless elegance that came from never having to worry about consequences. Three girls stood behind her, all wearing the same amused expressions.
I smiled politely.
"Eventually. I was hoping the hallway traffic would die down first."
"It has."
"Wonderful."
Neither of us moved.
Melanie folded her arms. "You embarrassed Nolan."
"I answered a question."
"You embarrassed Nolan," she repeated, slower, as though speaking to someone who struggled with comprehension.
I adjusted the strap of my bag onto my shoulder.
"I wasn't aware Biology had become a contact sport."
One of the girls behind her snorted. Melanie didn't.
She simply smiled.
It was a frightening thing to witness.
"I think," she said softly, "we need to have a conversation."
I glanced toward the hallway stretching beyond them. Students walked past without sparing us a second look. Funny how crowds became invisible whenever the powerful decided to corner someone.
"A conversation?"
"Mhm."
"I'm usually a fan of those."
"I prefer mine private."
I sighed theatrically. "You know, whenever someone says they just want to talk, I immediately assume I'm about to have a terrible afternoon."
Melanie's smile widened. "Good."
She stepped aside, leaving the doorway open. "Ladies."
I followed them.
Looking back, that was probably the last smart decision I made that day.
The hospital waiting room smelled like antiseptic and bad decisions.
I sat on the paper-covered examination bed with a bag of ice pressed to my nose. The nurse had called it a clean break.
Melanie and three of her friends had found me between the east wing and the student parking lot. They had not said much. Melanie was efficient like that.
I moved the ice away from my face and looked at the ceiling.
Did I regret it?
No.
Humiliating Nolan Blackwood in Biology had been worth the broken nose. Worth the split lip and the bruised ribs and the particular indignity of sitting alone in a hospital room while everyone else went home to dinner. Because the moment I sat back down and watched his shoulders tighten, I had felt something I did not feel often enough at Northcrest.
Like myself.
Like the girl my father raised.
I pressed the ice back against my nose and thought about tomorrow.
Tomorrow I would walk back into Northcrest with a bruised face and a scholarship with a rich man's name on it and absolutely no wolf to speak of. Melanie would be there. Nolan would be there. The hallway and the laughter and the grinding daily reality of being the girl nobody was supposed to root for.
I would survive it.
I had survived everything else.
What I did not know, sitti
ng in that hospital room with ice on my face and a plan already forming, was that survival was about to become significantly more complicated.
The Moon Goddess was not finished with me yet.
Not even close.

My gaze snapped to his. He was smiling, causing my heart to skip a painful beat. Before I could respond, the music began, and my body instinctively reacted to the sweet melody.

The crowd gasped as Lex pulled me into a more intimate position, his hands roaming over my body in a seductive manner.
The experience was both terrifying and magical, allowing me to feel every longing emotion through the dance.
I soon found myself lost in his arms.
When the music finally stopped, my arms were wrapped around his neck, his hands resting on my back, our noses almost touching. He gazed deeply into my eyes.
The ballroom fell silent.
Was he about to kiss me?

If he finds out what I really am, I’m dead.

"I’m keeping her."
"What?"
Before I can react, he scoops her up. Her small body fits easily in the cradle of his talons. For a split second, she looks startled, but not afraid. Her hand rests against one scaled finger, and she stares up at him with that same curious wonder, as though she’s already forgotten she was ever meant to fear me.
"Put her down," I try to command, panic threading through my thoughts. "You’ll hurt her."
"She’s ours," the beast insists, possessive and fierce. "Our snowflake."

Taste of Fate: The Vampire King's Human Mate
He reached for the back of my head and pulled me up just enough to reach my neck. When his fangs slid into me, the pain was instant, electric. I couldn’t breathe. I couldn’t think. My hands found his shoulders, clawing for something to hold. My legs kicked. Tears streamed down my cheeks.
He moaned against my throat as he drank, and the sound was devastating.
