Chapter 1
I put all my strength into running; only the moon goddess knows how long I've been running to save my life.
The few moments I stopped, I could sense rogues lurking and waiting to attack, but I don't understand why a father would disown his only daughter.
~~ 3 days Earlier ~~
The climate seems strange today; it was sunny a few minutes ago. Now it is raining downpour, and the winds howl through the trees with lightning and thunderstorms. The environment feels so tense in the house that one could suffocate.
I could hear my brothers silently plead to my father, but why are they pleading for me this much? Is strange.
I could now understand my brother's plea as my father stormed to the kitchen where I was, eyes red like they would pop any second, fuming with anger.
Without being told, I know I messed up today at the hunting game. In the previous hunts, I always end up beaten up, or, in the worst case, in the infirmary. However, I decided to participate in this year's Hunt game. This game is a test of my worth; I don't need to be told the punishment I would face if I fail this hunt.
My father must have seen how I got easily defeated and disqualified. Luckily for me, the injuries I obtained weren't much.
Seeing my father in the kitchen, my muscles tensed up immediately as I struggled to maintain eye contact. I've never experienced the love or bond of a father to his daughter; even if it exists, it is either cold or dead.
My father is the Beta of the Red Moon Pack; most times I wonder if it is the position he occupies that made him this way.
My brothers came running after him because the anger could literally be seen dripping from my father.
"Father, please reconsider where you will..." My father cut my immediate senior brother Mike off with his right hand, holding it towards him.
"You could have helped her earlier, but you didn't." At this point I was confused, but I kept silent.
"Lisa, do you understand the purpose of the hunt, held every year?" I blinked in confusion, but I can't possibly snub my father. "I...it is...i". I stammered.
"Can't you speak?" He shouted.
"It is a competition held every year to show the strength, speed, durability, smartness, etc., etc., of every werewolf contestant.
"Father nods. "That's correct, but in all these things you mentioned, do you think you have any? Because to me the only thing you have is weakness and dullness. The only kind of award for a weak wolf like you gets is death.".
"So what I am saying is this, without beating around the bush. I have decided for your own good and for the sake of our family reputation. You will leave this house and pack entirely; never return until I say otherwise." I became dumbfounded and fell on the floor.
Father snaps, "You do not need to kill yourself with tears; just pack your things and leave. I do not want to see you here tomorrow morning when I wake up."
"I know life has not been fair to you, but this is the best thing I can do for you.". With that, he stormed out of the kitchen. Just like that, I am a nobody.
Tears continue rolling down my cheeks. Rogue!I can't become a rogue. It is the worst punishment for a werewolf; death is even preferable.
I was thinking, just maybe I would find my mate in this hunt, but what I found is rejection! from my father. I am ruined!!
"Lisa," my brothers called me back to consciousness; they carried me from the floor and took me to my room. I can't bring myself to stand or even think of talking about walking; I feel so numb.
The moment I was laid on the bed, my tears flowed down my cheeks and wet my pillow, the only companion I have.
~~ Present~~
The resentment I feel towards my father is growing more and more. Never have I ever felt fatherly love from him. I shouldn’t be surprised that he would disown me, but it is a hard truth I try to accept till now.
I am aware of my father's love for power and maintaining the family reputation, but is it worth pushing your only daughter away?
He is the beta of the Red Moon Pack, the strongest after the Alpha. Rumor says my father hunts like a hawk; maybe that’s why he wants his children to imitate him. But unfortunately for me, I am far from it.
I pray the moon goddess watches over me, keeps me safe from harm, and sees me through this misery. I’ve always been a loyal daughter, despite my father's I'll treatment.I don’t know why he hates me so much and treats me so badly. I really hope I survive this.
My brother Mike once said maybe it is because my mother died after giving birth to me. My thoughts were cut short when it started raining downpour; I didn’t even see the sign. I runoff to a tree shade where I curled, waiting for the rain to stop. It continued to rain non stop till it was dark. Suddenly I started feeling chills running down my spine; unpleasant shivers ran through my body, and I started trembling.
Seeing an abandoned building a distance away, I started running under the rain; even as it blurred my vision, I kept running. Branches of small trees and bushes scratched my body and inflicted wounds all over me, making my speed slow down drastically.
As the pain became unbearable for me, I managed to burst out from the bush into the clearing of the abandoned building. My breathing got heavier when I got to the porch with a sign. I rested my body on my paws, thankful for the refuge I had. Feeling the warm flow of blood on my body, I rested, hoping I would heal quickly.
The abandoned building was a bungalow made with rock walls with low fences around covered in vines and moss. The windows were cracked and broken with dust and dirt all over.
After observing my environment, I feel into an endless abyss of darkness as exhaustion takes over.
A couple of hours later, my relaxed body tenses when a soft growl echoes around me. I groan with exhaustion and frustration. Is it difficult for one to have peace of mind for once? However, seeing the wolf before me, I panicked, but I relaxed immediately when I noticed it meant no harm as it shifted before me.
The female werewolf has white hair with blue eyes and the perfect glass shape. Though she looked middle-aged, her beauty was so appealing and compelling that I had to mentally slap myself because I am also a lady.
Moving closer to me, she raised both hands above her head and said, “I mean no harm, dear." She said
‘‘What are you doing lying here?’’ she also said.
Seeing she really meant no harm, I wasn’t able to keep myself awake again as exhaustion took over and everywhere became black.
