Introduction

My name is Leo Carson, I am eighteen years old, and I am dying.
Three years ago, my uncle Thomas stole the 500,000 Aurora Coins and the Awakening Potion that my parents left me with a fake psychiatric evaluation report, and threw me into the Rust Zone to die.
For the past three years, I have worked as a child laborer in a chemical plant, working sixteen hours a day and being treated like a dog.
Until Hela, the goddess of death, appeared and gave me the Book of Judgment . As long as I write down the other person's name and manner of death, they will die.
Now, those who have wronged me, it's time for you to pay your debts.

Chapter 1

"Only eighty-five..." I stood up with a bitter laugh. "This godforsaken place owes me a debt I can never repay."

Hela looked at the screams echoing across the ground and the black smoke rising in the distance, then at my eyes, now completely blood-red, and realized she might be bound to a humanoid calamity. Her voice trembled slightly: "Leo, the death aura will erode your sanity! If this continues, you'll become a demon!"

I pulled out the last two Aurora coins—all my possessions—from under the bed and struggled toward the door.

"Become a demon?" I turned back to her with a bloodthirsty smile. "Miss Hela, I think it's fine. After all, in this world, only demons can judge demons."

"where are you going?"

"The chemical plant in District 4." I pushed open the rusty iron gate. "Go buy a new pen, and then... fill the remaining spots. It's time for those who treated me like a dog to pay their bills."

The wasteland winds, carrying the stench of chemical waste, swept through the rust-covered area, carrying away the last screams in the distance. I dragged my increasingly demonized body toward the chemical plant, only one thought in my mind:

One hundred heads, for a single ticket to the path of revenge. As for the price? So what if it means the soul is corrupted?

This deal was worthwhile.

Instead, my fingers curled into his shirt, clutching the fabric as though it was my only anchor. Something in him snapped—something he had been holding back for too long. His mouth found mine in a kiss that wasn't tender, but hungry, desperate.
I gasped into him, his hand sliding up to cup my jaw, holding me as if afraid I might vanish.
"You drive me insane," he breathed against my mouth, his lips trailing to my throat. "I can't lose you, Ella. Not you."
My head fell back, a soft sound escaping me as his fingers memorized my waist. My anger melted beneath his desperation.
"James..." I whispered, more plea than protest.
His hand caught mine, fingers threading together tightly. "I'll bring him back. I swear it. Just... don't turn away from me. Please."
The word please—low, ragged, almost broken—undid me more than anything else could have.

“No, no, no,” she said, pointing at a platter. “If it’s called ‘Goth Girl French Toast,’ then it has to be black. I don’t care how you do it. Activated charcoal. Blackberries. Food coloring. Demon blood. Whatever.”

The head chef looked like he was silently praying for death.

I rushed forward. “Amara. Stop traumatizing these poor people.”

She spun around, delighted. “Sera! Good, you’re here. Taste this. It’s missing despair.”

The chef’s face morphed into existential crisis.

I grabbed her arm. “Put the spatula down.”

“Down.”
