Introduction

I lean down, sucking and licking the sauce off her neck; she groans, moving herself off her chair onto my lap. I lift her mouth to mine. We kiss one another with deep desire.

My name is Jessica, Jessica Bloome, and I will be 18 soon. Don’t tell Alpha Sebastian though. He thought I was 10 when he killed my father and took me and my best friend Olivia to be he’s personal slaves four years ago. One night Alpha Sebastian gets drunk and grabs my arm. “Let go of me” I yell, pulling my arm away from him. I get a punch in the face and fall to the ground. I hold my head; one kick, two kicks, three. He’s screaming, “How dare you embarrass me, you little slut.” I can barely breathe as he tries to grab my neck. “DO NOT TOUCH MY MATE” Someone stops him. Mate? Did I hear that right? I roll over to see who’s speaking. Brown eyes; auburn hair. “Alex” I whisper before everything goes black.

Chapter 1

Jessica's POV

My name is Jessica Jessica Bloome. My Birthday is in 2 days, and I will be 18. Don't tell Alpha Sebastian, though; he thinks I'm turning 14 and I will be getting my wolf. He doesn't know I have had my wolf Celeste since he took me and my best friend Olivia 4 years ago to be his personal slaves. There is a reason he thinks this: I am small for a wolf. I am 5 foot 1, the youngest of triplets to Zachariah and Cynthia Bloome, a Gamma couple of the Desert Moon Pack.

Mum always said Nathianal, Cathy, and I were special because we were triplets, and that is rare in a Wolf pack. The other thing that makes us special is that we all look exactly alike, despite the height difference, and Nath is a different sex. We all have blonde hair, blue eyes, and rounded faces with bronze-tan skin. We all have a dimple on our left cheek as well. I don't know how tall they would have been now, but when I was 14, Nathanial was almost 6 feet, Cathy was 5 foot 4, and I was 4 foot 11. They called me the 'runt of the litter.'

Alpha Sebastian fights dirty, according to his son Jonathon. When they took my best friend Olivia and myself, he did something to Dad, Alpha Laurence, and Betta Josh; they couldn't fight back.

I remember that night, the night he attacked Desert Moon, our home. The night he killed my father, Alpha Laurence, and Betta Josh.

“Nath, Cath; what’s happening? Why are the alarms going off?" I asked my brother and sister as we ran out of the pack house. " Hey, runt", Nathanial affectionately teased.

*' We are under attack by Emerald Moon Pack; Dad said Alpha Sebastian wants our land', Nath continued. 'We need to get to the tunnels,' Cathy yells. I run towards the tunnels with my siblings, but something catches my eye near the big oak tree. The smell of Wild berries and Peaches with Brown chestnut hair and green eyes, It's Livvy.

Olivia has been my best friend since her family moved to the pack when they were 5. She's a witch/werewolf hybrid. Her mum, Gilda, is from the Light Coven, and her dad, Joseph, was a Desert Moon Warrior before they met. They moved back to Desert Moon to show Livvy what Werewolf packs were like.*

"Keep going," I yell to Nathanial and Cathy. "I'll catch up," and run over to Olivia. " Livvy, we need to get to the tunnels. Hurry!" That's when we hear a male voice above us.

*"Tunnels? Hmm." I look up; deep blue eyes are staring down at Olivia and me. I go to scream, but nothing comes out. I'm rooted to the spot, petrified. My wolf Celeste is in my head. "Grab Liv and run, Jessi." I react to do what she says; the man grabs both of us around the waist. He was twice our size. I kick and punch him, screaming, "Let go of me"! he only holds on tighter.

He took us to the front of the Packhouse. Throwing us on the ground in front of him. I see Dad, Uncle Laurie, and Uncle Josh all being held down by four big men each; they are snarling at the man who grabbed us. " Dad!" I yelled, pulling myself off the ground, trying to run to him but was grabbed by another man with black hair. " Jessica, Olivia. Get your hands off them." I look at Dad, it's not Dad speaking, it was Uncle Laurie.*

*"Oh, is this your daughter?" the man asked, cackling like a madman. " What is she 10?" he asked, but Uncle Laurie didn't' answer. Dad is seething, struggling to get out of their hold. He wants to kill him.

The man just laughs and tells the man holding us to "Do it." Throwing us to the ground, he shifts into his wolf, snarling and biting; he bites Uncle Laurie's throat, ripping it apart, killing him, and throwing him across the ground.

"I'm only going to ask you once. You have a chance to join me, and you will be spared," The man yells to Dad and Uncle Josh. Uncle Josh yells back at him, "Never." He chuckles, nodding to the wolf; in an instant, he slashes Uncle Josh's throat and then Dad's. I crumbled to the ground screaming.*

I now know those men were Alpha Sebastian, and he's Betta, Mark. Olivia and I have been working for Emerald Moon ever since. I refuse to submit to Alpha Sebastian. He beats me because of it, but I won't. He doesn't deserve my respect.

I won't tell him my real age, and I am not the Alpha's daughter; that's Jonathon's idea. He thinks it's safer for us not to. The only rule I follow, we aren't allowed to speak to anyone here. That is fine by me. I don't want to speak to anyone, anyway. We aren't even allowed to talk to one another, but we mind link when he isn't looking. There is one person Livvy and I talk to; that is Jonathon, a tall wolf with tanned skin, brown eyes, and dark brown hair. He's Olivia's mate, but because he is Alpha Sebastian's son, they can't mate just yet. She tells me his crooked smile is cute, Ehh. He wants to get us out of here, but it's proving more difficult than it seems.

One day I hope Jonathon, Olivia and myself can escape.

Dad said, "Yvonne will finally be saved. We're so proud of you."

Mom said, "After the surgery, we'll make it up to you."

Gilbert looked tenderly at Yvonne and said, "When you're better, where should we travel?"

As I lay on the cold operating table, as the anesthesia began to take effect, I only wanted to know one thing:

If I die on this operating table, will they regret it?

My parents raised me for twenty-four years. Then they found out I wasn't their biological daughter.

Their real daughter came home. She'd only been back two years. That's all it took to erase twenty-four.

When kidnappers grabbed us, I used my body as a shield. They beat me until something inside me ruptured. I was dying from internal bleeding, but no one could tell.

My parents wouldn't even look at me. "This is your fault! None of this would've happened if it weren't for you!"

"Get downstairs and apologize to your sister. If you can't, pack your things and get out."

They threw her a party at a downtown hotel while I died alone in my room.

I thought they'd be relieved. Maybe even glad. I thought they'd just move on like I never existed.

But when they finally learned the truth, they fell apart.

My husband, Zachary, chose to save his sister-in-law right in front of the kidnappers.

Zachary didn't hesitate. "Let Valerie go," he said.

He actually chose to save his sister-in-law! In that moment, even the baby in my belly seemed to stop kicking.

Later, they locked me in the basement. Drugs to delay labor were pumped into my veins over and over. Zachary wanted to save the "firstborn son" status for his sister-in-law's child.

When warm blood finally soaked through my skirt, I dialed the number I knew by heart with shaking hands.

"Zachary," I whispered into the phone, "our child... can't wait any longer."

When my parents forced me to donate my organs to my sister, I didn't refuse or run away. I just quietly signed the surgical consent forms, willingly giving my kidney to Vivienne, their beloved daughter.

A few months ago, my sister was hospitalized with kidney failure. The doctor said she needed a transplant. My family's first thought was me—the backup daughter they'd kept around all these years.

When my husband Allen took my hand with tears in his eyes and said, "Only you can save her," I agreed without hesitation.

When the doctor explained the surgical risks and potential complications, I smiled and nodded my understanding.

My parents said I'd finally learned what sisterly love meant.

Even Allen, who'd always been cold to me, held my hand gently and said, "The surgery's safe. You're so healthy, nothing will go wrong. When you recover, I'll take you to Hawaii."

But they don't know that no matter how the surgery goes, I won't be around to celebrate.

Because I just got my own test results—I have terminal brain cancer. I'm going to die anyway.

Heartbroken, I tricked him into signing divorce papers.

George remained unconcerned, convinced I would never leave him.

His deceptions continued until the day the divorce was finalized. I threw the papers in his face: "George Capulet, from this moment on, get out of my life!"

Only then did panic flood his eyes as he begged me to stay.

When his calls bombarded my phone later that night, it wasn't me who answered, but my new boyfriend Julian.

"Don't you know," Julian chuckled into the receiver, "that a proper ex-boyfriend should be as quiet as the dead?"

George seethed through gritted teeth: "Put her on the phone!"

"I'm afraid that's impossible."

Julian dropped a gentle kiss on my sleeping form nestled against him. "She's exhausted. She just fell asleep."

One day I'm dealing with cranky toddlers and parents who work too much to actually parent, the next my life is turned upside down and I'm working in a bar for supernaturals. I might not know how to mix drinks, but strangely enough the skills needed to deal with misbehaving children seem to work well enough on vampires, werewolves and even witches. The good news is this job is interesting and hey, my boss might be a demon but I'm pretty sure that under all the grumpy expressions he is a total softie. The bad news is that humans aren't supposed to know about all this magic stuff and so now I'm magically bound to this bar until I can convince them that I won't go telling everyone. Or I die, whichever comes first. Sadly dying is seeming more and more likely because someone is after me. I don't know who or why but they are dangerous and they have magic. So I'll domy best to survive, and if that means spending some extra time with my scary but gorgeous boss then so be it. I'll convince him to trust me if it's the last thing I do.
