Introduction

In the lawless Reckoned Territories of the 1870s Weird West, every bullet, every betrayal, and every "honest" land grab is tallied by the merciless Debt of Deeds System. Positive deeds generate Merit Points that fuel skills and survival. Sinful ones pile up, and defectors are plagued by black veins, phantom pain, and spectral Debt Collectors hungry for payment.
Silas "Ledger" Crowe, a quick-draw con man and former rustler, wakes up deep in the Red with over two thousand Liabilities on his head. Black veins already crawl beneath his skin, a constant reminder that his past sins are coming due — literally. When a forbidden artifact grants him the rare skill of Debt Forgery, Silas gains the power to transfer his burdens onto others… at the risk of tearing reality apart.
As he navigates dusty boom towns, crooked railroad barons, and high-stakes duels, Silas must balance his ledger while dodging Audit Storms and vengeful enforcers. But in a frontier built on stolen land and outsourced sins, "Manifest Destiny" is just expensive cosmic grift — and the bill always comes due.
With snarky blue notifications guiding his every choice, a sharp-tongued deputy watching his back, and the constant threat of turning Hollowed, Silas races against time to either forge his way to power or hack the System itself before the Great Final Audit wipes the Territories clean.
Redemption has never been so expensive. Some men pay in blood.
Silas pays in blood and gold.

Chapter 1

Silas "Ledger" Crowe woke up face-down in a pile of sawdust, smelling of cheap whiskey . His head throbbed worse than the time he'd tried to outdrink a whole cattle crew. Black veins pulsed faintly under the skin of his left hand, itching like fire ants had taken up residence in his bones.

A glowing blue box materialized right in front of his bloodshot eyes.

[Debt of Deeds System Online – Welcome back, Deadbeat]

Current Liability Balance: -2,340

Status: Critically Overdrawn

Persistent Debuff Active: "Marked for Collection"

Spectral debt collectors dispatched.

ETA: 68 hours.

Pro Tip: Positive deeds recommended. Or keep doing what you're good at. We're not here to judge... much.

```
"Son of a bitch," Silas muttered, shoving himself upright in the back alley behind the Stripped pony Saloon. The damned System had been riding him like a burr under a saddle ever since that mess in '68. Every rustled cow, every rigged poker hand, every backshot coward move, all tallied up neat and tidy.
He staggered toward the swinging doors, boots kicking up dust. Silas had always held the notion that drinking gave him clarity, and made this world of piss and shit bearable; even beautiful sometimes. Yet, Prosperity Gulch was as ugly as he remembered; sober, even now that he was dead drunk. It called itself a boom town, but looked more like a scab on the prairie: crooked buildings, rusty iron railroad tracks, and a big wooden board outside the saloon listing the day's "Credit Leaders."
Top of the list: Bartholomew "Honest Bart" Mc Greed – +12,450 Merit this week.
Bottom: Local Drifter Types (including you) – Still breathing on credit.
Silas snorted. "Honest" Bart owned half the railroad spurs cutting through "unclaimed" land. Funny how his Merit stayed pristine while the displaced homesteaders and indigenous crews racked up Liabilities faster than locusts.
Inside, the Stripped Pony was packed with the usual mix: cattle hands nursing beers, card sharks eyeing marks, and a couple of railroad enforcers in crisp coats that screamed "we outsource our dirty work."
Silas bellied up to the bar. He had a big appetite, and could hold his drink. "Whiskey. Leave the bottle."
The barkeep—a grizzled man with a Credit Aura glowing faint gold—poured, then squinted. "You look like trouble, friend. Black veins ain't exactly fashionable."
Before Silas could answer, the batwing doors slammed open. Three roughnecks stomped in, dusters flapping. Their eyes locked on him. Th one of them, a bearded brute with a hooked nose grinned.
"Crowe. You owe the Mc Greed outfit for that little cattle mix-up last month. Pay up or we're taking it out of your hide."
Silas's hand drifted toward his revolver. The black veins on his fingers throbbed harder.
```

[Warning: Initiating hostile action with high Liability Balance.

Projected Impact: Additional -150 to -300 Liability depending on outcome.

Public Credit Aura: Low

Combat Modifier Applied: -12% draw speed. +8% chance of comedic ricochet toward innocent bystanders.

The System reminds you: Real frontiersmen settle debts honorably. Or at least face-to-face.]

```
"Always with the commentary," Silas growled.
The brute drew first. Guns roared.
Silas dove sideways, table shattering as bullets splintered the wood. He came up firing from behind an overturned poker table—classic Ledger Runner move. His first shot clipped the brute's shoulder. Not clean, but enough.
```

[+85 Merit Points awarded.

Action: Self-defense shooting (mostly frontal this time).

New Merit: 172

New Liability: -2,255

Diminishing Returns Notice: One decent act doesn't erase years of doing the opposite]

```
The other two charged. One fired wildly; his bullet curved at the last second thanks to Silas's crap Credit Aura and pinged off a chandelier, showering glass.
"Damn System!" the gunman yelled as he slipped on spilled whiskey and ate floorboards.
Silas rolled, revolver barking twice more. One man went down clutching his gut, screaming as black tendrils of Liability began crawling up his own arm from the botched ambush.
```

[-80 Liability transferred (partial).

Enemy now carries "Coward's Brand" debuff.

The frontier would like to thank you for sharing the wealth.]

```
The last enforcer—a slick railroad man with a fancy nickel-plated piece—leveled his gun at Silas's head. "Bart don't like loose ends."
Time slowed. Silas felt the familiar burn in his veins as Liabilities fought for control. His draw was sluggish, but he squeezed the trigger anyway.
Click.
Empty chamber.
The enforcer laughed—until his own gun jammed with an audible "clack". A spectral raven made of swirling black smoke materialized on his shoulder for half a second, pecking at his ear.
```

[Debt Collector Minor Manifestation (due to proximity to high-Liability target)

Temporary effect on nearest hostile: "Equipment Liability" – Weapon malfunction for 10 seconds. Enjoy the show.]

```
Silas lunged, slamming the butt of his revolver into the man's jaw. Teeth flew. The enforcer crumpled.
The saloon fell silent except for the groans of the wounded and the tinkle of broken glass.
Silas stood, breathing hard, black veins receding slightly. The barkeep stared, Credit Aura flickering.
"You just shot Mc Greed's boys in my place," the barkeep said. "That's gonna bring heat."
Silas holstered and tossed a few coins on the bar—coins he'd "borrowed" earlier. "Add it to my tab."
A new blue box appeared, bigger and smugger than the rest.
```

[Quest Received: "Balance the Books in Prosperity Gulch"

Objective: Reduce your Liability below -1,000 within 7 days OR survive the incoming Audit Storm.

Rewards: Class evolution opportunity, temporary Credit boost, possible survival.

Penalty for failure: Full "Marked for Collection" escalation + town-wide monster spawn event.

Bonus Objective (Satirical): Expose at least one major hypocrite's hidden Liabilities without getting shot in the back (again).

The System notes: Civilizing the West sure looks expensive when someone else pays the bill.]

```
Silas tipped his hat to the room, ignoring the stares and the fresh itch crawling up his arm.
"Another round for the house," he called, voice steady despite the grit in his throat. "On Honest Bart's future tab."
Laughter rippled, nervous, but real. Outside, distant thunder rolled across the sky.
The black veins pulsed once, like a reminder.
Silas "Ledger" Crowe had 68 hours before the real collectors arrived.
He smiled anyway. Grimy, crooked, and more than a little desperate.
"Time to start balancing the books," he muttered. "Or at least forging a few pages."
Dear readers, this novel is coming to an end soon. I highly recommend another fantastic story of the same genre:
I’d appreciate all your support, thank you so much!
From first crush to wedding vows, George Capulet and I had been inseparable. But in our seventh year of marriage, he began an affair with his secretary.
On my birthday, he took her on vacation. On our anniversary, he brought her to our home and made love to her in our bed...
Heartbroken, I tricked him into signing divorce papers.
George remained unconcerned, convinced I would never leave him.
His deceptions continued until the day the divorce was finalized. I threw the papers in his face: "George Capulet, from this moment on, get out of my life!"
Only then did panic flood his eyes as he begged me to stay.
When his calls bombarded my phone later that night, it wasn't me who answered, but my new boyfriend Julian.
"Don't you know," Julian chuckled into the receiver, "that a proper ex-boyfriend should be as quiet as the dead?"
George seethed through gritted teeth: "Put her on the phone!"
"I'm afraid that's impossible."
Julian dropped a gentle kiss on my sleeping form nestled against him. "She's exhausted. She just fell asleep."
"You want my forgiveness?" he asked, my voice dropping to a dangerous timbre.
Before I could answer, he moved closer, suddenly looming over me, his face inches from mine. I felt my breath caught, my lips parting in surprise.
"Then this is the price for speaking ill of me to others," he murmured, nipping my lower lip before claiming my mouth in a real kiss. It began as punishment but quickly transformed into something else entirely as I responded, my initial rigidity melting into compliance, then active participation.
My breathing accelerated, small sounds escaping my throat as he explored my body. His touches were both punishment and pleasure, drawing shudders from me that I thought he felt reverberating through his own body.
My nightgown had ridden up, his hands discovering more of mine with each caress. We were both lost in sensation, rational thought receding with each passing second...
