Mecha War God's Return: My Daughter Lives in the Slums
R0b0t · Completed · 4.1k Words
Introduction
Five years ago, my wife Lisa and I fell in love in the military.
Just as Lisa became pregnant, I received a mandatory conscription order from my superior.
The Xenomorphs launched a massive attack. Despite my reluctance, I had to go.
Now the war is over. I've laid down my burden and returned home.
Standing in the dilapidated suburbs, I search for the wife I've wronged and the child I've never met.
Chapter 1
My name is Aiden. I made it back alive.
The moment the transport ship docked, I stood on the gangway.
I saw the port packed with people—holding flowers, pulling banners, some crying and throwing themselves into the arms of their loved ones who had survived.
Unfortunately, no one was there for me.
My identity was top secret. My family probably didn't even know if I was alive, let alone that I was coming home.
I called Lisa several times. No answer.
I left the port and boarded a bus.
The woman in front covered her nose with a scarf. I knew it was because of my smell—oil and disinfectant.
A little boy stared at me curiously. His mother yanked his head back.
I arrived at the neighborhood I remembered.
That flower bed was Lisa's favorite spot.
She said she wanted to grow a little garden, so she bought a bunch of seeds, spent an entire afternoon on her knees planting them in the dirt.
Finally, I was back. Surely that beautiful life would return too.
I stood at the door and knocked twice.
A strange man answered—in his forties, wearing pajamas, looking at me with confusion.
"Who are you?"
"I'm looking for Lisa."
I stared at him, momentarily wondering if I had the wrong place. "The woman who lives here. I'm her husband."
He was silent for a moment, then said he'd bought the house two years ago from a couple—the woman was named Lisa, the man was named Malone.
A couple? Why would they be a couple?
Where was my daughter? Where was Lisa? Who was Malone? Why would she sell the house?
The massive upheaval made my already bad temper even worse.
My voice squeezed through clenched teeth: "Where is she?"
"I don't know." He shrugged, eyes evasive. "I just bought a house. Why all the questions?"
Later, a mailman told me my wife had taken up with another man. She'd sold the house years ago, and my parents moved with my daughter into the slums on the west side.
I took several more hours of buses, crossing half the city from the central district all the way west.
At the end of a small path was a shack.
I walked over and knocked.
An elderly voice came from inside: "Who is it?"
A familiar voice, only much older than I remembered.
The door opened. I saw an old woman holding a plastic basin with unwashed clothes inside. She looked up at me, her eyes went blank, then the basin fell from her hands.
She didn't speak. Tears suddenly poured out, running down her face. She didn't even raise her hand to wipe them.
I called out: "Mom."
"You're... Aiden..."
She held back her excitement and came over to hug me.
"Mom!"
She just shook her head, saying, "It's good you're back. It's good you're back."
Then she turned her head and called into the shack.
"Karina! Your father's home!"
Something in her voice made my heart skip a beat.
I'd never even seen that child.
Not even a photograph.
Tears streamed uncontrollably down my face.

GO ON YOUR KNEES, ALPHA.
He was wrong.
Six years ago, Pete Leadsilver had everything an Alpha could want. Power, a respected pack and a future already written for him.
Then he met me.
What began as a game became a mistake I would spend years trying to survive. When I told him I was carrying his child, Pete chose not to believe me. He rejected me, humiliated me, and allowed the people around him to make sure I understood that there was no place for me in his world.
So I disappeared.
I took the secret of my pregnancy with me and built a life far away from the Alpha who had broken me.
Six years later, Pete finds me again. Only this time, he isn't the man with all the power. His pack is dying, his people are running out of time, and I may be the only person capable of saving them.
But I'm no longer the woman Pete remembers. And beside me is a little boy who carries far too much of Pete's face to be a coincidence.
Our reunion should have been about a cure, but instead, it becomes the beginning of a war neither of us saw coming.
Because Pete's greatest danger isn't outside his pack.
It's inside his own family.
Old resentment turns into manipulation. Loyalty becomes betrayal. And the people Pete trusts begin hiding secrets that threaten to destroy everything he's built.
Then someone comes for the people I love.
Suddenly, this is no longer about whether Pete can earn my forgiveness.
It's about whether he can keep me alive.
Whether he can protect the son he never knew existed.
Whether he can uncover the truth before the people closest to him destroy everything he has finally learned to value.
Along the way, we'll lose people we thought would always stand beside us, I'll be forced to confront wounds I've spent six years trying to bury, and the family we're slowly building will be tested in ways neither of us could have imagined.
Because sometimes love isn't the hardest thing to find. Sometimes it's the hardest thing to survive.
Pete once believed power meant never needing anyone and I once believed surviving him meant leaving him behind.
We were both wrong.
Because some bonds refuse to die, some betrayals cut deeper than rejection and some people don't come back into your life to give you a second chance.
They come back to show you exactly what you almost lost.
Pete Leadsilver lost me once.
This time, he'll have to fight to keep the family he never knew he needed.
