Never Trade Your Tails for Love
Lily · Completed · 6.7k Words
Introduction
He hadn't forgotten me after all. For those few days, he held me locked in his arms, as though trying to make up for all the years of longing at once.
I thought there might still be a trace of warmth left in this tangled affair.
Until that night, after the pleasure had faded, he suddenly gripped the base of my tail and yanked.
He held the still-trembling tail up, weighing it in his hand.
"Audrey hasn't looked well these past few days. This should make a decent tonic."
"Derrick... please, don't do this."
"Then tell me where my parents are."
I reached back, unconsciously, and touched the empty small of my back.
Nine tails, once. Now only one remained.
Chapter 1
To stop my fox clan from being hunted to extinction, I decided to step beyond the barrier and draw close to Derrick Carter—my childhood friend, now a top geneticist.
——
After that, I lost count of how many times I hung between life and death.
Derrick used my clan's lives as leverage, forbidding me to step so much as a foot outside.
His scalpel was the thing I knew best—every so often, he would cut open my chest and draw out the spirit pearl growing within, the finest tonic to nurse Audrey's health.
Shackled, I cleaned away the traces they left behind after their nights together, kneeling outside the door, listening to the tangled breathing within, unable to close my eyes for the entire night.
After his fiancée Audrey became pregnant, a new layer of torment was added.
He began tearing off my tail on a fixed schedule, taking that bit of flesh and blood to nourish her body.
He hated me down to the marrow, and yet, whenever I was on the verge of death, it was always his hand that saved me.
He would feed the medicine into my mouth himself, murmuring against my ear:
"Do you really think that just because I've gone soft, this secret can stay buried forever?"
"Tell me. Where are my parents, really?"
I quietly sensed this obsession of his that made no sense at all, and found that by then, I had no desire left to speak.
The secret wouldn't need to stay hidden much longer.
Once a fox spirit leaves the barrier for more than a year, if it fails to return to the clan grounds, its soul will eventually scatter into nothing.
I reached back without thinking and touched the empty small of my back—nine tails, once, now reduced to a single, lingering one, barely clinging to life.
At three in the morning, a violent kick against the door jolted me out of shallow sleep.
The wooden door nearly came off its frame. Before I could react, a hand had already seized my hair and hauled me up.
Then came a string of slaps.
"The mistress is hurt, and here you are sleeping soundly!" Derrick's assistant snarled as she dragged me out, gripping hard enough to nearly wrench my arm from its socket.
Blood dripped in a trail from the storeroom all the way to his bedroom door.
Derrick stood there, brow furrowed, staring at the dark pool on the floor.
"Go take care of Audrey's wound."
I looked up—first catching sight of Audrey's tear-glossed cheeks, then, lower, the faint swell of her belly.
Before I could look away, my view was blocked.
"What are you staring at? Get up and treat her. Quit dawdling." He looked down at me from above.
I lowered my head at once, my voice trembling.
"I'm sorry."
Then I crawled toward the bed.
It turned out Audrey had been bitten on the fingertip while feeding the caged fox kits in the middle of the night.
A wound this small—I'd long since grown used to seeing them.
Practiced, I pulled back my collar, dug my nails into the flesh over my chest, sweat sliding down my spine, and slowly drew out the last remaining spirit pearl.
"Lucky for you, it's actually useful for once."
I said nothing.
My blood had long since become worthless. The only thing left that still had any value was this tail, barely holding on.
Audrey stirred awake, and he immediately gathered her into his arms.
"Does it still hurt?"
She frowned, her gaze sweeping over the wound on my chest.
"It smells awful. The scent of blood makes me want to throw up..."
Before she finished speaking, he kicked me out of the room.
"Get out. Wait outside."
I crawled away bit by bit, his softened voice trailing after me.
"Has the baby been moving normally lately? Let me listen."
My chest clenched violently, and the wound that hadn't yet healed wept fresh blood.
I made it to the end of the hallway and had no strength left.
Suddenly, the maid Nancy dumped a basin of ice water straight over my head.
"They say foxes are supposed to be clever creatures, but look at you now—not much to show for it."
She reached out, seized the single tail still clinging to the back of my neck, and yanked hard. The pain made me suck in a sharp breath.
"This thing's useless anyway. Might as well cut it off now and use it to nourish the mistress."
"Don't touch me."
My own voice came out cold and hoarse.
"Oh, still got the nerve to glare at me?" She let go with a sneer, turning to toss one last line over her shoulder. "If this blood isn't cleaned up before sunrise, you'll be sorry."
All through that night, I knelt in place, scrubbing over and over, my fingertips long since numbed with cold.
From inside the room came the intermittent sounds of intimacy.
Just a little longer, and all of this would finally be over.
By the time I wiped away the last trace of blood, the wound on my back had finally closed.
Dawn broke, and the estate stirred back to life with its usual morning bustle.
Derrick emerged from his room, an unmistakable flush still marking his throat, and walked straight into the sight of that patch of blood, already dried black.
"Where did all this blood come from?"
I didn't argue. I simply bowed.
"I'm sorry. I'll clean it up right away."
Nancy, trimming branches nearby, suddenly raised her voice, as if meaning for someone in particular to hear.
"Funny thing, isn't it? That fox was sneaking around Mr. Carter's bedroom last night. I tried to stop her, but she wouldn't listen. Wonder if she's trying to seduce Mr. Carter."
"Now that I think of it, back when Mr. Carter's parents went missing, she was always wandering around in the middle of the night too..."
Derrick's expression darkened instantly.
"What kind of games are you playing now?"
Before I could even open my mouth, the water basin in my hands was already kicked flying, and the next moment I was being dragged toward the laboratory.
My limbs were bound one by one to the cold examination table, electrode pads plastered densely across my skin, my head spinning with nausea.
Derrick sat across from me, legs crossed, turning a small remote between his fingers, his expression dark enough to make my heart seize.
"Seems like you've been living too comfortably lately. Forgotten what it feels like to be interrogated."
He leaned in, his eyes locking onto mine, each word deliberate.
"Tell me! Was it you who killed my parents?"

.
"I’m keeping her."
"What?"
Before I can react, he scoops her up. Her small body fits easily in the cradle of his talons. For a split second, she looks startled, but not afraid. Her hand rests against one scaled finger, and she stares up at him with that same curious wonder, as though she’s already forgotten she was ever meant to fear me.
"Put her down," I try to command, panic threading through my thoughts. "You’ll hurt her."
"She’s ours," the beast insists, possessive and fierce. "Our snowflake."
Iron And Glamour Just Don't Mix
Well… Sometimes you just might turn out to be right.
It turns out, the fae stole my little brother. In his place? A pixie with boundary issues and a talent for home repairs.
I’ve spent my life taking care of everyone else. So when my baby brother is taken, I don’t hesitate. I walk straight into a faerie mansion and make a bargain with its infuriatingly charming master.
Kie is everything you’d expect from a dangerous fae, beautiful, political, and entirely too amused by me. Power wrapped in a smirk. Sensual, mischievous, and far too aware of the effect he has on people. He agrees to help me find my brother.
For a price.
Now I’m bound by a faerie bargain and navigating a world of glamour, manipulation, and ancient rules I definitely should have learned sooner, enchanted forests, political games, magical contracts, and a fae lord who treats seduction like a perfectly reasonable negotiation tactic.
Iron is how I keep people out.
Glamour is how he draws them in.
And apparently, they just don’t mix.
Lethal Web of Mafia's Revenge (Sequal to "Innocent in Mafia's Web)
He was a beast inhabiting this mansion, inflicting inhuman torture on my poor soul. He had created a living hell for me, this pitiful girl, within his castle.
On this cold winter night, he threw my wounded body into the icy pool, arrogantly enjoying it all, drinking and smoking expensive cigars. A satisfied, cold smile played on his lips as he reveled in my pain. His face was filled with the darkness of sin.
“How...more...am I…still…standing?” I stammered, my lips trembling.
Zain paused, thinking. Then, turning away from her, he replied:
“Until you die!”
With that, he left. As he wished. At that moment, my wish came true; I died.
But not in a frozen pool; I was struck in the head by a bullet from afar, blood splattering everywhere—that was far more gruesome.
My consciousness began to fade, but suddenly, I opened my eyes again and found myself mopping the floor in an ordinary restaurant.
I was startled: What happened? I was reborn? This is unbelievable!
Mafia Don Begs Me Back
Damian coldly gripped her jaw. "Vivian's condition has worsened. The surgery is set for one month from now. Don't worry — I'll find you the best burial plot, and I'll make sure your family is well provided for. You need to understand: if it weren't for your heart, you never could have become my wife, never could have become Mrs. Montgomery. You've enjoyed years of a lavish life. Now it's time to give something back."
Even the son she had raised with her own hands screamed at her: "Why won't you just die? If you die, your heart can go to Vivian! I want Vivian to be my mom!"
Elara fell apart. But she was not completely broken.
She slipped the divorce agreement into a stack of contracts that needed Damian's signature. He didn't read closely. He signed. Now, she was free.
Elara accepted the offer — Top Jewelry Appraiser, a seven-figure annual salary. She gave herself one month to say goodbye to the five years she had lost. She withdrew from Damian's life and Caleb's life, little by little, until nothing of her remained.
Until that night, when Damian watched helplessly as a bullet tore through her shoulder and she plunged into the freezing waters of the Atlantic.
"No! Elara! You are not allowed to die!"
In that moment, Damian finally understood — somewhere across those five years, he had already fallen in love with Elara. And a certain truth he had always believed in reversed itself after Elara walked away.
He had been wrong. Catastrophically wrong. Wrong from the very beginning. This proud, noble, and ruthless mafia don was consumed by remorse, and vowed to spend the rest of his life in atonement — to win back Elara, who had lost every last shred of faith in him.
"Elara, I'm begging you. Come back. Come back to me and Caleb."
"Mommy, I'm sorry. Please don't abandon me."
When Elara — now an international figure, admired and adored by countless people — comes face to face once again with the man she once loved with all her heart, and the son who once wished her dead, what choice will she make?

"Are you sure you don't want me to touch you?" He whispers, untying the knot and slipping a hand inside. "Because I swear to God, that is all I have been wanting to do. Every single day from the moment you stepped in our bar and I smelled your perfect flavor from across the room."

After One Night with the Alpha
I thought I was waiting for love. Instead, I got fucked by a beast.
My world was supposed to bloom at the Moonshade Bay Full Moon Festival—champagne buzzing in my veins, a hotel room booked for Jason and me to finally cross that line after two years. I’d slipped into lacy lingerie, left the door unlocked, and lay on the bed, heart pounding with nervous excitement.
But the man who climbed into my bed wasn’t Jason.
In the pitch-black room, drowned in a heady, spicy scent that made my head spin, I felt hands—urgent, scorching—searing my skin. His thick, pulsing cock pressed against my dripping cunt, and before I could gasp, he thrust hard, tearing through my innocence with ruthless force. Pain burned, my walls clenching as I clawed at his iron shoulders, stifling sobs. Wet, slick sounds echoed with every brutal stroke, his body unrelenting until he shuddered, spilling hot and deep inside me.
"That was amazing, Jason," I managed to say.
"Who the fuck is Jason?"
My blood turned to ice. Light slashed across his face—Brad Rayne, Alpha of Moonshade Pack, a werewolf, not my boyfriend. Horror choked me as I realized what I’d done.
I ran away for my life!
But weeks later, I woke up pregnant with his heir!
They say my heterochromatic eyes mark me as a rare true mate. But I’m no wolf. I’m just Elle, a nobody from the human district, now trapped in Brad's world.
Brad’s cold gaze pins me: “You carry my blood. You’re mine.”
There is no other choice for me but to chose this cage. My body also betrays me, craving the beast who ruined me.
