Introduction
"That doesn't define our relationship now, does it?" I plainly asked him.
"I barely know you " I finished.
" Does that mean you don't feel the mate bond?" He tried to confirm.
"I don't" I lied.
"You will regret this" he finally said and left.
From the moment Zora turned eighteen, her life began to change. It felt like she had lived a different life before her eighteen birthday.
Until a strange man, who claimed to be her mate appeared and revealed her identity.
Will she accept the mate bond?...or will she do what she think is right.
Chapter 1
Zora's POV (also called Zoe)
"Zora" someone yelled
My five years old self was standing in the midst of hungry looking wolves barking hysterically that in any moment could attack and rip me into pieces. But there were no tears in my eyes. Logically I shouldn't be able to contain my tears for a five year old in that kind of situation but I couldn't help it instead I calmly stared at the wolves. A brown wolf that decided to make a move was about to jump on me before a black wolf that looked a lot bigger appeared and shielded me with its body while facing the wolf, took the wolf by the ear and bit a chunk of flesh out.
It howled in pain which made the rest of the wolves whimper and scamper for safety. The big black dog threw the chunk of flesh away and looked back at me in a scrutinizing manner.
It made a motion by turning its back to me and lowering its body. I understood and got on it back. Then it gently took off with me in the direction of what smelled like a waterfall. I could sense it and when we got there, it was a mountain close to the waterfall. Just as I got off, the wolf dropped a necklace and took off immediately.
Then I woke up and stared at the ceiling for a few seconds before sitting up. I palmed my face while thinking of what it could mean.
I have been having this same dream for the past two weeks since my 18h birthday.
The fact that I don't even own a dog, makes this more frustrating. I signed loudly and raised my head. Just then my door flew open which made my face contort into a wide smile making me forget about the dream for a moment before Cassey ran inside and jumped on me.
"Good morning Zoe" he greeted with a wide dimpled smile.
"What's up kiddo" I said to him holding both cheeks with my thumb giving him a peck on his forehead.
He will turn 3 soon but one look at him, you would think he is four.
I got off the bed with Cassey in my arms and headed downstairs where mum was setting the table for breakfast.
"I'm sure Cassey would switch me for you one day," she said, rolling her eyes.
"C'mon Mum, he already has" I smirked at her and sat Cassey down on his chair which was right next to mine.
"I'm not complaining" Mum smiled as she set the last plate of food on the table.
"Alright let's dig in" She said and we started right away.
Right in the middle of the meal, I paused when I heard a familiar howl from afar…'Is that…?'
"What.?" Mum asked, I must have thought out loud.
"It's nothing," I said and tried to finish up.
What was I thinking, that was a dream, how could I have thought it to be the same. This is just my imagination. Then I heard it again after few minutes and this time it sounded closer than before. I looked around to see if mum or Cassey heard it too but it didn't look like it.
When we were done with our breakfast, I cleared the table and head straight to the kitchen to clean up.
"Thanks for the meal" I said to her before leaving and heard Cassey mimicking me in his baby voice.
I smiled and started to clean up. Then I heard it again very close to the house. I became scared because it was no longer my imagination even if I thought it to be. I looked through the window to check if it was outside or something but I saw nothing. I finished up and headed upstairs to prepare for school.
My house is a two story with 3 rooms upstairs, each consisting of it own bathroom and toilet. A guest room downstairs, a kitchen, dining hall and a huge sitting room. Personally I feel like Dad did this intentionally. He loves to have a family meeting as he calls it every Saturday before he was transferred to London for work. My older brother Jay disliked it so much, calling it old fashioned.
It's my last semester in high school, I had to spend an extra year due to my ill health the past year.
I closed my door and headed downstairs to the garage. I unlocked my red Porsche, got in and drove straight to school blaring loud music while….
A loud honk brought me back to reality. "Zoe, we are running late" Julia said trying to be loud but it sounded like the chirping of a bird. Ironically she sings beautifully like a bird.
I hopped into the passenger side and she zoomed off to school. Calm down by Selena Gomez and Rema was playing. I mouthed some words because I wouldn't call that singing compared to miss singer blowing my ears off with her beautiful voice.
Ten seconds before we got to the huge gate, I caught a glimpse of a wolf from the rear view mirror. Immediately, I turned back to check but saw nothing.
"What's wrong" Julia asked
She had stopped singing when we got close to school.
"I thought I saw something" I told her while she packed the car.
"You are acting strange these days you know" she looked at me.
"Well, it's nothing, let's go" I purposely avoided her eyes and moved. She signed and tried to catch up with me.
'CRESCENT HIGH' was boldly written on the gate.
After school, I decided to talk a walk to calm myself before heading home.
My foot were beginning to itch. This happens when I don't dance regularly. It's been few weeks since I last danced.
Dancing have been part of me since I could remember. I jogged lightly to the place I love being most, my secret campsite.
Throwing my backpack on the floor , I started moving my legs, then my body and hands followed. The dance steps always comes natural to me and it never changes. Reasons unknown. It was like my calming remedy. Somehow weather began to change, but the forecast said nothing about rain today I thought. That didn't stop me from completing my dance.
Just before I got to do the last step where I had to spin and shoot my arms upward, I came face to face with the wolf from my nightmare looking at me from afar.

On that island I learned the darkest edges of humanity and how to bury terror in bone. Countless times I wanted to surrender—dive into the waves and never surface—but the accusing faces that haunted my dreams pushed me back toward something colder than survival: revenge. I escaped, and for three years I hid among humans, collecting secrets, learning to move like a shadow, sharpening patience into precision—becoming a blade.
Then, under a full moon, I touched a bleeding stranger—and my wolf returned with a violence that made me whole. Who was he? Why could he wake what I'd thought dead?
One thing I know: now is the time.
I have waited three years for this. I will make everyone who destroyed me pay—and take back everything that was stolen from me.
