Introduction

"This game is dangerous, little Cheska," Matthew affirmed.
It was too late for Cheska to react or understand what he meant. All she knew was that she was on the bottom while Matthew was on top of her. He had changed their position so easily.

"Hey, what are you doing? It was an accident," Cheska tried to reason while pushing him away. But she knew her push was too weak, and her hands stopped moving.

"Perhaps I can give you a minor example of how I plan to punish you if you take offense towards me," Matthew said, focusing his gaze on her lips. He did not hide the lust that was clearly reflected in his eyes. But instead of being scared, Cheska felt excitement.

'Damn you, Cheska! Why aren't you doing anything? Why are you waiting to taste his lips?' Her mind screamed, but her body remained frozen, waiting for his kiss.

—*—
Cheska's been waiting for her mate for a year now. And when she found him, her world crumbles because the mate given by the goddess is none other than Matthew De Silva— the alpha of the pack and her STEPBROTHER!

Tormented by her feeling, Cheska decided to reject the mate bond but Matthew has a different plan...

But how can Cheska escape the bond binding them, if the person she is escaping from is the one who makes a way for them to get closer?

Will she choose to escape for the forbidden love?

Or will she choose to give in and chose to be love?

Chapter 1

"Cheska, you look stunning. Hurry up, your brother and his aviation associate are on their way, and you know how much he despises delays," Cheska's mother reminded her with a chuckle as she peeked through the door.

"If he can't handle waiting without becoming irate, then he's not fit to be an alpha. He needs to learn how to manage his temper," Cheska replied with a smile as she grabbed her shoulder bag.

"Ha! Big sister, you may be great at convincing our parents, but for Matthew, you're a jerk!" Liam teased, making a strange face that irritated Cheska even more.

"You little rascal! What on earth made you say that? Why do you think I'm afraid of Matthew when I haven't seen him in five years?" Cheska widened her eyes, attempting to intimidate her younger brother, but he simply laughed in response.

"Enough bickering, both of you! Cheska, hurry up! Your brother Matthew informed you that the aircraft would arrive at three o'clock. I wouldn't have asked you to pick him up if it weren't for his friend. But he's with the Shadow pack's daughter, so it would be awkward to let them take a cab," Cheska's mother interjected.

"Okay, I'm leaving... I would leave Matthew at the airport if it weren't for my amazing mom," Cheska replied with a smile, grabbing the keys to her sports car.

As Cheska started the car's engine, she couldn't help but think about the five years that had passed since she last saw her brother. It was time for Matthew to leave and study to become an alpha. Cheska and her mother had first arrived in Thunder pack territory, where Matthew's father, Morris De Silva, was the alpha. The Thunder pack's council had initially opposed Cheska's mother becoming the Luna, but Morris's decision prevailed, and her mother had proven to be an excellent Luna.

But as Cheska thought about her brother Matthew, she couldn't help but wonder, "Geez, how do I even recognize him? It's been five years, and I can't remember his face." She chuckled and shrugged, pushing down on the accelerator. It only took her less than twenty minutes to reach the airport, which was significantly less time than the usual hour-long drive.

"Great! My mom will be pleased that I arrived on time!" Cheska exclaimed as she put on her sunglasses. She hurried into the airport, dressed like a fashion model.

As Cheska walked through the airport, she couldn't help but notice the eyes that were watching her every move. After all, she was known as Cheska Macbride, the Thunder pack's so-called Barbie. However, instead of blond hair, she had wavy silver-colored hair.

"I never met my mate until I was eighteen, but even though he was two years later, I wasn't afraid," Cheska thought to herself, confident that her mate was out there somewhere. She had noticed her wolf's peculiar behavior over the past ten days and was certain that she would run into him soon.

All Cheska had to do now was wait and hope that Matthew recognized her. Perhaps her younger brother had sent him a photo of her at some point, so she might look familiar to him.

"Excuse me," a courageous guy approached her, causing Cheska to furrow her brow. It was unusual for someone to approach her directly. "Yes?" she responded, feeling a bit bitter.

"Hello, my name is Xander. I'm also waiting for someone, but their flight seems to be delayed. Maybe you'd like to get some coffee while you wait?" Xander asked kindly.

Cheska took off her spectacles, and a sly grin appeared on her lips. "You want to get a cup of coffee with me? Xander, you're adorable, but I respectfully decline," she replied. She wanted to scream at him, but she couldn't because so many eyes were on her.

"Perhaps you're apprehensive because you don't know who I am. I'm the Alpha of the Black pack. I'm sure you've heard of my pack, which is the fourth most powerful on the entire continent," Xander explained, trying to impress her.

"Yes, I know your pack, and I appreciate the offer, but I must respectfully decline," Cheska smiled as she rejected Xander's offer. She didn't want to argue with the Black pack's Alpha, but she also didn't want to force herself to accept the offer.

However, Xander's grin faded and was replaced with displeasure as he walked closer to her, showing that he didn't appreciate her response. "How dare you make me seem bad! I'm the boss!" Xander grabbed Cheska's arm and forcibly pushed her closer to him, which astonished her.

"Let me go! Perhaps you didn't recognize me, but my name is Cheska Macbride, and my mother is the Luna of the Thunder pack!" Cheska exclaimed, worried but making sure that her words were clear.

"Huh! What about the Thunder pack? Are you proud of a pack that lacks an Alpha? If I were you, I'd ditch that useless pack and join mine. I'll make you a Luna!" Xander retorted.

"A useless pack?! How dare you insult the Thunder pack!" Cheska was incensed. She hated everyone who underestimated the pack led by her Mother.

Xander sneered and pulled Cheska closer. "Why? Am I lying? Every pack underestimates your pack because your Alpha is no where to be found!"

After this remark, Xander tried to kiss Cheska but a wide palm caught his face. In an instant, Xander's body flew away.

Cheska lost her balance and fell into the strong arms.  But what called her passing more was her wolf—screaming the words 'MATE!'

"You're a jerk! Who do you think you are?!" Xander yelled as he struggled to rise.

However, the man who was clutching Cheska's waist disregarded Xander and stared at her face. "Damn it!"

Cheska heard the man mumble as his grasp around her waist tightened. She was clueless why he is furious.

"Mr. Matthew De Silva! I know the girl in distress is beautiful, but don't forget that you have a female friend," a voice interrupted.

Cheska's eyes widened in surprise. "Your Matthew De Silva?"  she failed to hide her terror.  'What is going on?  This guy is my brother!  How can he be one my mate?

"Nice to see you again, Cheska," Matthew said, his mind still grappling with the revelation that his little sister was his mate.

"This can't be happening," Cheska mumbled to herself, but Matthew heard her.

"Sister? I didn't know you had a sibling, Matthew," the voice interrupted again.

"She is not my sibling. At the very least, we are not related by blood," Matthew clarified, his mind racing with the implications of what this meant for their family and pack.

"So your Matthew De Silva! The missing alpha of the Thunder pack!" Xander commented. He was standing, and now he was glaring at Matthew, ready for a fight.

Matthew, put Cheska behind him and face Xander. "Looks like your powerful to say that my pack is weak..." Matthew's voice was full of determination and confidence.

Xander felt a shiver because Matthew's gaze was threatening that's why he decided to fold. "Be thankful I'm in a hurry because if not, I'll crush you here!"

Just like that, Xander hurriedly leave the area. Making  Cheska speechless.

Being second best is practically in my DNA. My sister got the love, the attention, the spotlight. And now, even her damn fiancé.
Technically, Rhys Granger was my fiancé now—billionaire, devastatingly hot, and a walking Wall Street wet dream. My parents shoved me into the engagement after Catherine disappeared, and honestly? I didn’t mind. I’d crushed on Rhys for years. This was my chance, right? My turn to be the chosen one?
Wrong.
One night, he slapped me. Over a mug. A stupid, chipped, ugly mug my sister gave him years ago. That’s when it hit me—he didn’t love me. He didn’t even see me. I was just a warm-bodied placeholder for the woman he actually wanted. And apparently, I wasn’t even worth as much as a glorified coffee cup.
So I slapped him right back, dumped his ass, and prepared for disaster—my parents losing their minds, Rhys throwing a billionaire tantrum, his terrifying family plotting my untimely demise.
Obviously, I needed alcohol. A lot of alcohol.
Enter him.
Tall, dangerous, unfairly hot. The kind of man who makes you want to sin just by existing. I’d met him only once before, and that night, he just happened to be at the same bar as my drunk, self-pitying self. So I did the only logical thing: I dragged him into a hotel room and ripped off his clothes.
It was reckless. It was stupid. It was completely ill-advised.
But it was also: Best. Sex. Of. My. Life.
And, as it turned out, the best decision I’d ever made.
Because my one-night stand isn’t just some random guy. He’s richer than Rhys, more powerful than my entire family, and definitely more dangerous than I should be playing with.
And now, he’s not letting me go.

"White wolf! Kill that monster!"
That roar stole my eighteenth birthday and shattered my world. My first shift should have been glory—blood turned blessing into shame. By dawn they'd branded me "cursed": cast out by my pack, abandoned by family, stripped of my nature. My father didn't defend me—he sent me to a forsaken island where wolfless outcasts were forged into weapons, forced to kill each other until only one could leave.
On that island I learned the darkest edges of humanity and how to bury terror in bone. Countless times I wanted to surrender—dive into the waves and never surface—but the accusing faces that haunted my dreams pushed me back toward something colder than survival: revenge. I escaped, and for three years I hid among humans, collecting secrets, learning to move like a shadow, sharpening patience into precision—becoming a blade.
Then, under a full moon, I touched a bleeding stranger—and my wolf returned with a violence that made me whole. Who was he? Why could he wake what I'd thought dead?
One thing I know: now is the time.
I have waited three years for this. I will make everyone who destroyed me pay—and take back everything that was stolen from me.
