Substitute Bride of my Heartless Billionaire Boss
Binibining Mary · Ongoing · 61.0k Words
Introduction
With her savings gone, she was evicted by her landlady and pursued by loan sharks. As if that wasn’t enough, her boyfriend cheated on her with her best friend. Merri was on the verge of losing her mind! She had lost her parents, her home, and her money. On top of that, she was betrayed by the people she trusted the most.
Just when she was about to lose faith in life and faced a near-fatal accident with a truck, her boss surprisingly came to her rescue. Even more shockingly, he proposed marriage to her!
“You need help. So do l. My bride ran away with a random man. So, l need a substitute bride, marry me, and you will get everything you need,” he said.
“Not only that, you will have a place to stay. If you live with me, they can’t harm you. So, will you marry me, Merri?”
Is marrying her boss a blessing or another disaster? They are fundamentally different from each other, and she cannot imagine being with him. However, given her circumstances, she knows she cannot be picky. If she is, she might end up either homeless or a companion to an old and ugly loan shark leader. Plus, she can’t stand facing insults from her traitorous ex and former friend. Becoming the substitute bride of her heartless boss might just be the best choice for her!
Chapter 1
Merri jolted awake and glanced at the wall clock. Her eyes widened in horror when she saw what time it was.
“Shit! It's already six a.m! I overslept and didn't notice my alarm!” she exclaimed, almost in tears.
She had stayed awake until three a.m. the previous night to finish the papers her heartless boss had assigned her.
“Speaking of the devil, damn! He’s bombarding my phone with calls!” she whispered in disbelief as she checked her phone.
Suddenly, the phone rang again, startling her to the point where she almost dropped it. Luckily, she managed to hold on. With urgency, she pressed the answer button before her boss could turn into a dragon and swallow her.
“WHERE THE HECK ARE YOU? I'VE BEEN CALLING YOU HUNDREDS OF TIMES! BUT YOU DIDN'T BOTHER TO ANSWER! TELL ME, MERRI, DO YOU STILL WANT YOUR JOB, HUH?”
Merri's eyes widened at her boss's furious voice. It seemed she had provoked him once again. He was always angry with her. She couldn’t believe she had survived working under him for a whole year. Her boss, Evan Alexander Virkins, was strict, meticulous, and heartless. No secretary could handle his temper, which was why no one else ever lasted. Only she did.
As if she wanted to stay. She just needed money to pay her bills, so she had no choice but to put up with her tyrannical boss.
“MERRI? WHAT THE HECK! ARE YOU STILL THERE?”
She took a deep breath. “I'm here, boss. I'm sorry for not answering your call; I'm on my way to the office. What can I do for you?”
“Buy me a cup of coffee and move faster! You know how much I hate wasting time!”
Before she could respond, he had already hung up. She rolled her eyes.
“Ugh! If I could find a new company with better benefits, I would probably resign! This man is a psycho! Working under him is driving me crazy,” she said as she marched toward the bathroom. After a quick shower, she searched for something to wear, only to discover her cabinet was empty.
“Oh dear, I forgot to take my laundry to the shop! How can I possibly do that when he demands I work all weekend?” she said, sitting down on the floor. Then her eyes fell on a box her best friend Irene had given her last week as a birthday gift.
Curious, she opened it to find office attire inside. However, she didn’t like it. She doesn’t wear skirts or blouses with coats—she preferred long skirts paired with long sleeves.
She blinked when her phone rang and vibrated.
“Merri, where the heck are you? It's been thirty minutes, but I don’t see you here!”
It was another message from her boss. She closed her eyes tightly, gripping her phone.
“Oh dear, it seems I don’t have any choice but to wear this,” she sighed, looking at the office attire her friend had given her.
Merri bit her lower lip before lifting her hand to knock on her boss's door. She knew she would definitely receive a stern scolding for being late, even by just a few minutes.
“We can do this,” she whispered to herself before entering and forcing a smile.
“Good morning, sir—”
“You're late,” her boss, Evan, cut her off. His words were as sharp as knives.
“I'm sorry, sir—”
“Enough with the excuses. Let’s get down to business. Where’s the report and my coffee?”
She immediately handed him the coffee, which he accepted, but frowned after tasting it. Merri closed her eyes tightly, bracing herself for what would happen next.
“It's cold! What were you thinking—serving me lukewarm coffee? Really?”
“Sorry, sir. I was caught in traffic—”
Evan raised his hand, cutting her off.
“Excuses again? Make me a new one. Now!”
She nearly jumped in nervousness. “Y-Yes, sir.” She quickly turned to leave his office, but before she could reach the door…
“Wait, give me the folder. That's the report I assigned you to prepare, isn't it?”
She glared at the white folder she had been carrying. Right, she had almost forgotten about it. She walked back toward him; Evan stood in front of his desk, arms crossed, scrutinizing her.
“Here, sir,” she said, handing him the folder. He took it and gestured for her to leave. Obeying, she went directly to the coffee station to prepare him a fresh cup.
As she carried the coffee on a tray, she opened the door and found him scanning the report she had prepared. He was wearing his eyeglasses, which made him look unexpectedly attractive. She immediately shook her head.
“What the heck? Why would you find this monster attractive?” her subconscious whispered.
“Of course not!”
“Merri…”
She blinked twice when she heard him call her name.
“Y-Yes, sir? Here’s your coffee—”
Evan stood up, walked toward her, and slammed the papers on the tray.
“These are useless! Completely useless! What exactly did you do last night?”
She swallowed hard. “I stayed up all night to finish this report, sir—”
“Really? Then why did you submit half-baked work? Revise everything, and I want the revised report before ten a.m. today.”
She was almost in tears upon hearing his words. Revising everything from scratch would require a lot of effort and time; there was no way she could finish it by ten a.m.
Evan glared at her for a moment, his expression darkening as he scanned her from head to toe.
“What is this?” he demanded, his voice sharp. “Why are you wearing a fitted, short skirt and a blouse that nearly exposes your breasts? Are you trying to seduce me or, worse, all the men in this company? Let me remind you, Miss Merri, you’re here to work, not to show off.”
“I thought it was appropriate—”
“It’s not. Did you do this on purpose? Changing your fashion to distract me?” Evan accused, stepping closer. She instinctively backed away until her back hit the cold wall, feeling trapped.
She shook her head, avoiding eye contact. “O-of course not. I just have no choice since I have no clean clothes left.”
“Whatever. Go revise the reports, and make sure that tomorrow you don't wear attire like this again. Otherwise, I won’t be so lenient,” Evan whispered, leaving her speechless.
Just then, a phone rang. She blinked, and Evan returned to his desk as if nothing had happened while she stared at him in disbelief. This situation felt far from normal. Was he trying to threaten her or was there something else going on?
“Why are you still standing there? Go fix the report. We have a meeting at ten thirty a.m. Make sure you submit the report by ten a.m. sharp so I can check it,” Evan commanded, his tone firm and cold.
Taking a deep breath, she replied, “Yes, sir,” and promptly left his office.

Julian dropped a gentle kiss on my sleeping form nestled against him. "She's exhausted. She just fell asleep."

The Biker's Fate
I squeezed my eyes shut.
"Dani," he pressed. "Do you get me?"
"No, Austin, I don't," I admitted as I pulled my robe closed again and sat up. "You confuse me."
He dragged his hands down his face. "Tell me what's on your mind."
I sighed. "You're everything my parents warned me against. You're secretive, but you're also honest. I feel wholly protected by you, but then you scare me more than anyone I've ever known. You're a bad boy, but when I dated a so-called good one, he turned out to be the devil, so, yeah, I don't get you because you're not what I expected. You drive me crazier than anyone I've ever met, but then you make me feel complete. I'm feeling things I don't quite know how to process and that makes me want to run. I don't want to give up something that might be really, really good, but I also don't want to be stupid and fall for a boy just because he's super pretty and makes me come."

I Slapped My Fiancé—Then Married His Billionaire Nemesis
Technically, Rhys Granger was my fiancé now—billionaire, devastatingly hot, and a walking Wall Street wet dream. My parents shoved me into the engagement after Catherine disappeared, and honestly? I didn’t mind. I’d crushed on Rhys for years. This was my chance, right? My turn to be the chosen one?
Wrong.
One night, he slapped me. Over a mug. A stupid, chipped, ugly mug my sister gave him years ago. That’s when it hit me—he didn’t love me. He didn’t even see me. I was just a warm-bodied placeholder for the woman he actually wanted. And apparently, I wasn’t even worth as much as a glorified coffee cup.
So I slapped him right back, dumped his ass, and prepared for disaster—my parents losing their minds, Rhys throwing a billionaire tantrum, his terrifying family plotting my untimely demise.
Obviously, I needed alcohol. A lot of alcohol.
Enter him.
Tall, dangerous, unfairly hot. The kind of man who makes you want to sin just by existing. I’d met him only once before, and that night, he just happened to be at the same bar as my drunk, self-pitying self. So I did the only logical thing: I dragged him into a hotel room and ripped off his clothes.
It was reckless. It was stupid. It was completely ill-advised.
But it was also: Best. Sex. Of. My. Life.
And, as it turned out, the best decision I’d ever made.
Because my one-night stand isn’t just some random guy. He’s richer than Rhys, more powerful than my entire family, and definitely more dangerous than I should be playing with.
And now, he’s not letting me go.
The War God Alpha's Arranged Bride

Why does being near him make my skin feel too tight, like I’m wearing a sweater two sizes too small?
It’s just newness, I tell myself firmly.
He’s my boyfirend’s brother.
This is Tyler’s family.
I’m not going to let one cold stare undo that.

I hate girls like her.
Entitled.
Delicate.
And still—
Still.
The image of her standing in the doorway, clutching her cardigan tighter around her narrow shoulders, trying to smile through the awkwardness, won’t leave me.
Neither does the memory of Tyler. Leaving her here without a second thought.
I shouldn’t care.
I don’t care.
It’s not my problem if Tyler’s an idiot.
It’s not my business if some spoiled little princess has to walk home in the dark.
I’m not here to rescue anyone.
Especially not her.
Especially not someone like her.

Invisible To Her Bully
Rise of the Banished She-Wolf
That roar stole my eighteenth birthday and shattered my world. My first shift should have been glory—blood turned blessing into shame. By dawn they'd branded me "cursed": cast out by my pack, abandoned by family, stripped of my nature. My father didn't defend me—he sent me to a forsaken island where wolfless outcasts were forged into weapons, forced to kill each other until only one could leave.
On that island I learned the darkest edges of humanity and how to bury terror in bone. Countless times I wanted to surrender—dive into the waves and never surface—but the accusing faces that haunted my dreams pushed me back toward something colder than survival: revenge. I escaped, and for three years I hid among humans, collecting secrets, learning to move like a shadow, sharpening patience into precision—becoming a blade.
Then, under a full moon, I touched a bleeding stranger—and my wolf returned with a violence that made me whole. Who was he? Why could he wake what I'd thought dead?
One thing I know: now is the time.
I have waited three years for this. I will make everyone who destroyed me pay—and take back everything that was stolen from me.
My Possessive Alpha Twins For Mate
My drunk stepfather remained indifferent, his weight suffocating, making it hard to breathe as my heart raced.
Suddenly, the door slammed open, and two figures burst in.
"Get off her!" a deafening roar echoed.
I didn't expect the twin brothers who'd bullied me at school to come charging in like gods to save me.
After my grandmother passed, I had to move in with my mom and stepdad, who treated me like a servant. I prayed every day for my 18th birthday to come, so l could leave and escape this broken home.
However, on my first day at my new school, l encountered the legendary twins everyone feared.
To make matters worse, the Moon Goddess revealed they were both my mates!
After helping me out with my stepdad, my twin mate cornered me, played with my hair, and whispered possessively, "You belong to us, our little mate..."
The Biker Alpha Who Became My Second Chance Mate
"You're like a sister to me."
Those were the actual words that broke the camel's back.
Not after what just happened. Not after the hot, breathless, soul-shaking night we spent tangled in each other's arms.
I knew from the beginning that Tristan Hayes was a line I shouldn't cross.
He wasn't just anyone, he was my brother's best friend. The man I spent years secretly wanting.
But that night... we were broken. We had just buried our parents. And the grief was too heavy, too real...so I begged him to touch me.
To make me forget. To fill the silence that death left behind.
And he did. He held me like I was something fragile.
Kissed me like I was the only thing he needed to breathe.
Then left me bleeding with six words that burned deeper than rejection ever could.
So, I ran. Away from everything that cost me pain.
Now, five years later, I'm back.
Fresh from rejecting the mate who abused me. Still carrying the scars of a pup I never got to hold.
And the man waiting for me at the airport isn't my brother.
It's Tristan.
And he's not the guy I left behind.
He's a biker.
An Alpha.
And when he looked at me, I knew there was no where else to run to.
