Introduction
His misfortune doubled when he lost his job shortly after and had to move into his wife's parents' house. There, Davis endured countless humiliations as he struggled with unemployment and financial difficulties. In the middle of the night, his wife sent him packing with just a suitcase and an empty pocket.
That very night, Davis encountered a mysterious man who bestowed upon him an equally mysterious ring. With this ring, Davis discovered an extraordinary ability: the power to read minds. Soon after, he crossed paths with a terminally ill trillionaire and struck a unique deal.
For three months, Davis became the contracted husband of the dying trillionaire, with the promise of inheriting 60% of her vast wealth and assets upon her eventual passing from cancer.
Now, Davis is back, stronger, wealthier, and armed with the remarkable ability to read minds. His primary goal? To exact revenge on everyone who once made him feel inferior, starting with Madeline and her family.
Chapter 1
“Get out, Davis!” Madeline’s impatient voice attacked his ears.
Davis stood there, overcome by mixed emotions of pain and disappointment. He was to embark on a business trip with his new boss as his newly appointed chauffeur, but something urgent had come up and the trip got canceled.
He came back home to meet his wife in their matrimonial bed with another man! Worst, she didn't feel not in the least bit remorseful and now, she wanted him to take his few belongings and…
“Get lost! You are a wretched man who can't even afford an apartment! I'm tired of you and I'm not sorry that you had to find out this way. But Jordan and I…” She motioned for her new lover to come closer and the damn bastard strode to the door, holding Madeline by the waist.
Davis felt his chest tighten upon seeing another man intimately hold his wife that way but what's a hold when he had just been on top of her, smashing her in the dirtiest way possible?
“Jordan and I have been lovers for quite some months now and are getting married soon. Guess what? We will be visiting The Maldives for our honeymoon; my dream destination! Can you see how useless and wretched you are for not even being able to take me to a fancy restaurant or even get us our own apartment!” Madeline ranted on, emphasizing how incompetent a husband he had been.
True, he knew he had been quite the loser. He had lost his job a few months into the marriage with Madeline. Hell, was she complaining about an apartment? He had a bloody house before he married her! It wasn’t up to a year after he lost his job, Madeline fell ill. She was down with Echomelotis Syndrome.
Her condition was critical too and required immediate surgery. He didn't have enough for it and her bloody useless family couldn't help too. He had to sell his house to raise enough for her surgery and treatment expenses and thankfully, she survived.
They had to move to her parent's house after that but the useless family of hers only allowed them in the small cottage at the back of the main building.
Each time, they never failed to throw salt in his wound when he lost all he had just to save their daughter’s life and now.…
Now Madeline had betrayed him. She dared to cheat on him with another man and dared to call him wretched. Women! Bloody reptiles, that's what they were.
He was drowned in the pool of self-pity and had forgotten himself for a while there when Madeline called him back to order with a loud thud of his suitcase hitting him right in the forehead. He winced, his already banging head suddenly had the pain inflicted by the suitcase to complement it.
“Leave, Davis! Leave and never come back!” Madeline’s voice attained a higher pitch as she shut the door behind him with so much hatred and disgust that completely stunned him.
Davis stood, the crickets chirping in the background seeming faint and distant. To him, it seemed like he was in a confined space where all the walls were closing in.
It was two major blows. First, he caught his wife cheating and now, she sent him out. He doesn't have a home anymore. Where the hell was he supposed to pass the night?
Whilst drowning more and more in hopelessness, he thought of going into the main building. To report Madeline’s infidelity to her parents and see if at all they’d appreciate his past deeds even though it was apparent Madeline had already forgotten it.
And thus, he picked up his suitcase and made to go over to the front of the house. When he got there, he knocked.
“Who is by the door at this hour?” He heard Susan’s grunt. Susan was Madeline’s mother whom he had never gotten along with ever since he lost his job and house. She always jumps at any opportunity to remind him of how poor and hopeless he is. But they were all wrong. Totally wrong about him. He wasn't hopeless. He just hadn't reached his reprieve because he could feel it that he was to have no mundane fate.
The door creaked open and Susan’s face, covered in a white facial mask, stared at him coldly. He could tell she wasn't delighted to see him. Not that he was to see her anyway.
“What do you want?!” She barked. This was probably the hardest thing for Davis in his entire lifetime but he wasn't left with much choice now.
He began to stutter, knowing this woman gave less than a shit for him. “Erhm — Susan, you see — I found Madeline with another man on our bed and she gave me no time to speak but just threw me and my luggage out.” He barely finished without his voice breaking.
Hell, he wasn't the one in the wrong here but why was he feeling like the bad guy under Susan’s malicious glare?
“And that's why you dared to come knock on my door this late in the night? Aren't you ashamed of yourself? Your wife sent you out of the house and you have the guts to come report the incident to me — her mother! Get OUT!” She screamed, obviously the one defiling the hour.
Davis heard Madeline’s younger sister’s voice. “Mum? Who are you arguing with?” Susan did not give her a chance to find out before she shut the door flat on Davis’s face, muttering some audible curses as a send-off rhythm for him.
Feeling all the weight settling upon him, Davis scolded himself for coming to Susan. “What were you thinking?” He questioned himself, heart heavy with pain. He had been betrayed and humiliated by the one woman whom he had sacrificed his all for. It was a crime to live as a broke man these days and he was more than guilty of it. Even though the night was cold, sweat began to drip off his forehead. He was left with nowhere to go and was shattered down to earth.
Just as he was about to turn and leave, the entrance door got opened again. When he glanced up at it, he found Evelina; Madeline’s sister by the door.
“Davis.” She called, eyes laced with pity for him. “I'm so sorry, Susan told me what happened.” She stepped out of the house, her bright complexion gleaming under the moonlight from the little space left for the eyes by her pajamas.
She had always been the only one in the family with affection for his plight. “Where will you go now?” She asked, hugging herself as a result of the cold.
It was ironic because Davis felt nothing more than heat which had caused his shirt to be drenched in sweat. He had no idea what to say to her. He was beginning to feel ashamed of himself. “I will survive.” He forced a smile and mumbled.
“Here.” She extended a hand to him and when he glanced at it, he found some bills in it. “You can use this to get a motel to pass the night and maybe have dinner too if you haven't. I'm sorry.” She added, sounding truly concerned for him.
Now, that got to him. He didn't want to take the money from Evelina but Davis knew he needed it. He took it.
“Thank you so much, Evelina. I will never forget your kindness.” He muttered as he shamefully retrieved the money from her.
He meant it.
She gave him a big sad smile. “It's fine. Just stay safe. I'm sorry.”
“EVELINA!” Susan’s voice bellowed from inside, causing Evelina to jump startled. “Time to go.” She hurriedly let out and went back inside the house.
Once again, Davis was left alone but this time, he had a solution for what he was going to do tonight. He would make sure to repay Evelina’s kindness and for Madeline and the rest of her family, they were going to pay for all the miseries they’ve put him through; Davis silently vowed to himself.
“I will be back.” He groaned, gritting his teeth hard and took one last glance at the house before walking miserably away with his suitcase.

How Not To Fall For A Dragon
Which is why it was more than a little confusing when a letter arrived with my name already printed on a schedule, a dorm waiting, and classes picked out as if someone knew me better than I knew myself. Everyone knows the Academy, it’s where witches sharpen their spells, shifters master their forms, and every kind of magical creature learns to control their gifts.
Everyone except me.
I don’t even know what I am. No shifting, no magic tricks, nothing. Just a girl surrounded by people who can fly, conjure fire, or heal with a touch. So I sit through classes pretending I belong, and I listen hard for any clue that might tell me what’s hidden in my blood.
The only person more curious than me is Blake Nyvas, tall, golden-eyed, and very much a Dragon. People whisper that he’s dangerous, warn me to keep my distance. But Blake seems determined to solve the mystery of me, and somehow I trust him more than anyone else.
Maybe it’s reckless. Maybe it’s dangerous.
But when everyone else looks at me like I don’t belong, Blake looks at me like I’m a riddle worth solving.

His eyes darken, flicking to my mouth.

And the deeper Wren is pulled back into his world, the more she realizes nothing about her past—or about Ezra—is what she believed.
In the chaos of gang wars, mounting debts, and old betrayals, he becomes the one constant. The more she fights him, the harder she falls. And the more he pushes her away, the more lethal his pull becomes.
Because in this world, love isn't sweet.
It's brutal. Bloody.

"Let me go," I whimper, my body trembling with need. "I don't want you touching me."

Biting his lip, he stalks toward me, his hand going to the seam of his pants and the thickening bulge there.
"Are you sure you don't want me to touch you?" He whispers, untying the knot and slipping a hand inside. "Because I swear to God, that is all I have been wanting to do. Every single day from the moment you stepped in our bar and I smelled your perfect flavor from across the room."

they’ll all remember the girl they tried to erase.

She’ll be the dream he keeps chasing… the one thing that ever made him feel alive.

The Human Among Wolves
My stomach twisted, but he wasn’t finished.
"You're just a pathetic little human," Zayn said, his words deliberate, each one hitting like a slap. "Spreading your legs for the first guy who bothers to notice you."
Heat rushed to my face, burning with humiliation. My chest ached — not from his words alone, but from the sick realization that I had trusted him. That I had let myself believe he was different.
I was so, so stupid.
