Five years ago, a single, desperate mistake changed Freya Myers's life forever. Intending to secure a future with the man of her dreams, she ended up in the wrong room, stealing the 'seed' of the wrong man. That man was Declan Castle—the cold, ruthless, and enigmatic CEO of the world-renowned Castle Group.
Now, Freya has returned to the city as a struggling single mother, hiding a pair of genius twins from the world. When she lands an internship at the Castle Group, she hopes to remain invisible. But fate has other plans. Declan Castle, a man who has remained mysteriously untouched by any woman since that fateful night, instantly senses something familiar about the new designer. He has spent years searching for the woman who 'ruined' him, and now that he has found her, he has no intention of letting her go.
Forced into a high-stakes marriage of convenience with the domineering CEO, Freya must navigate the treacherous waters of high society while desperately guarding her children's true identity. Between a scheming stepmother, jealous socialites, and a series of deadly secrets, the walls are closing in.
What started as a game of cat-and-mouse and a quest for revenge soon ignites into a passion that neither can control. In a world where power is everything and betrayal is a way of life, can Freya protect her heart and her children, or will the relentless Mr. Castle claim everything she’s been trying to hide?
Chapter 1
Freya's phone buzzed.
"The man of your dreams is in Room 3618. Everything's ready. Charge!" Eva texted.
Freya stared at the message, feeling her heart pound against her chest.
Tonight was supposed to be the happiest night of her life. Tonight was the first time he had ever agreed to meet her privately.
Leo had always kept her at arm's length despite knowing her feelings. Perhaps he still wouldn't marry her. Perhaps he would never love her the way she loved him.
But for years, she had dreamed of becoming a mother. If she could at least spend one night with the man she had admired for so long, she would have no regrets.
Taking a deep breath, she walked toward Room 3618, typing in the passcode Eva had given her, and entering cautiously.
The presidential suite was dark, lit only by the faint neon lights from outside the window. A tall man lay on the six-foot-long bed.
Freya's face immediately flushed.
She couldn't clearly see his face in the dim light, but judging from his lean, muscular figure alone, she felt too embarrassed to look any longer.
"Leo..." she whispered nervously.
The man didn't answer.
She assumed he had fallen asleep after drinking too much. Gathering all her courage, she approached the bed. This was the man she had loved for years. The man she thought she would never have.
Suddenly, the man's long arm reached out, pulling her firmly onto the bed. His skin was burning hot, and a husky murmur escaped his lips. "It's so hot in here..."
That night, surrendering to the intoxicating heat of the room, she gave herself completely to him.
Only the next morning did she realize she had made a terrible mistake.
As the faint morning light hit the bed, she froze.
Oh, god! The man in the room wasn't Leo at all!
His brows were furrowed in his sleep, his sharp nose and strong jawline looking like a work of art. He was absolutely seductive, yet he was definitely not Leo.
Panic and confusion set in. Did Leo back out at the last minute? Who was this breathtaking stranger? Had Eva made a terrible mistake?
Since things had already gone this far, Freya didn't want to stick around to ask questions. She grabbed her clothes and fled the room before he could fully wake up.
Back at Eva's apartment, Eva's eyes lit up when she saw Freya. "How is it? How was your dream man?"
"It was the wrong guy!"
"Huh?"
"You gave me the wrong room, Eva!"
"What?! That's impossible!"
"That wasn't Leo!"
The images of the man's lean muscular physique, his eight-pack, tight waist, long legs, and the faint scent of cigarettes rose in Freya's mind as Eva kept talking. Thinking about it, Freya went into a daze...
...
Five years have passed.
The moment Freya's alarm clock hit 6:00am, the door opened with a bang and the silence was broken.
Her daughter, Hope Myers, yelled, "Mama, get up! It's getting late!"
Her son, Aaron Myers, said, "Woman, stop sleeping like a pig. Get up and make us breakfast!"
Freya grabbed the corner of the blanket and pulled it over her face before she flipped over and tried to go back to sleep.
She had wanted to strangle Eva to death a gazillion times over. First, she gave her the wrong room number, then she helped deliver a pair of twins for her. Did Eva think she had too much free time on her hands? Or that baby formula falls from the sky?
Hope climbed onto Freya with her pacifier in her mouth while Aaron pulled her blanket and left her nowhere to hide.
Freya got out of bed with her hair disheveled, and stretched before she carried her daughter. "What do you guys want for breakfast?"
"Fried egg, bacon, and a sandwich!" Hope replied.
"Hey, woman." Aaron crossed his arms coolly. "Why didn't you ask what I wanted for breakfast?"
Freya smiled brightly. "You will eat whatever your older sister wants."
She had stepped on Aaron's Achilles heel, so he countered, "I'm the older one! Hope is my little sister! She isn't my older sister!"
"The fact is, she was born two minutes before you," said Freya. "Stop putting up this unnecessary fight."
"Eva said I was born first!" He responded.
"I was the one giving birth to you, so I know better than her."
Aaron was speechless.
The nanny, Mrs. Lee, came over while Freya was preparing breakfast. "Why are you up so early? Did the kids wake you up? I will come by earlier in the future," Mrs. Lee said.
"It's fine," replied Freya. "Why don't you help them brush their teeth and wash up?"
Life was peaceful and meaningful with the company of her twins. Freya felt she could spend the rest of her life in this bliss.
A few minutes later, Freya's phone rang while she was having breakfast. "Hi," she said. "Who's this?"
"This is Castle High Fashion calling. You have been hired," said the HR manager. "Please report for work at 9:00am today. You will work as Linda's assistant."
"Okay. I will be there on the dot!"
She arrived at Castle Group and was taken to the fashion department by the receptionist.
"Hi, I'm here to report for my first day. Is Linda around?" Freya asked.
The person at the door studied her briefly before pointing, saying, "Over there."
Linda was touching up her makeup when Freya got to her desk. She was dressed in a black dress with a deep V-shaped neckline and a pair of Doc Martens, and she wore rings on her index and ring fingers. She was stylish, and definitely looked like she was in the fashion business.
"Is that how you dress?"
