Introduction

“Soaking wet for the guy you were about to write up ten minutes ago. The Student Body President is a hypocritical little slut, isn’t she?”

To Whitlock University, I am Tegan Vale: the pristine Senator’s daughter, the untouchable Student Body President, and the blueprint for icy perfection.
To Hayes Ashford, I am nothing but a masterpiece of sin.
He is the university’s brutal hockey captain. A merciless legacy who rules the campus from the shadows. We were supposed to loathe each other. But one reckless, hate-fueled night blurred the lines, leaving me with a secret that could burn my father’s political empire to the ground.

I am pregnant with the enemy's baby.

I refused to be the girl who traps him. I was ready to take my secret to the grave. But when a ruthless anonymous whistleblower threatens to destroy the hockey team, I am forced to strike a deal with the devil in a jersey.
Hayes agrees to protect my reputation and save the team. But his price is sadistic: For every favor I need, I owe him a night in his bed.
Now, the high-and-mighty Tegan Vale has become the Captain’s personal puck bunny. Bound by a dark obsession, trapped in his orbit, I’m falling for the one man who holds my soul—and my secret—in his calloused hands.
But in a world of vicious elites, the only thing more dangerous than the truth... is the man who owns it.

Chapter 1

Tegan

I blinked twice, trying to process what the hell was in front of me.

I stared at the strip showing two pink lines like the plague.

No it can't be

I bought this strip to confirm that things were okay with my body. I just went for my usual stress meds but the girl at the drug store convinced me to buy the strip because of the symptoms she noticed.

Unable to do anything I just sat down in the large mable tiled bathroom.

Papa will kill me,he hates scandals more than anything and after the one he just dealt with concerning me recently. Fuck.

I'm supposed to be the perfect girl.

Perfect girls don't get pregnant in college.

Shit, this is fucked up. I have to deal with this. He can't find out. The tears welled up in my eyes so quickly causing my vision to blur, without thinking, I let out a loud shierk not caring how ugly it sounded. Or who might hear it.

Two weeks ago, I was celebrating my nineteenth birthday, having the best beach party that could ever exist. It was the first time I allowed myself be free, free of all the stress and work I had to do,all my duties and responsibilities as papa liked to call them.

I think back to it again trying to remember how it happened,I really didn't care much about this before but right now I have to think.

I was high on Xanax,I can't even remember how I got home the next day,but Charlie was with me.

I grab my phone and quickly dial her line.

“What's up baby?” I hear her say over the line, whispering something about leaving her alone to someone beside her.

“Bananas”I managed to croak out.

“Ok girl, hang on I'm coming right now”she sounds really panicked and I don't feel guilty about it one bit.

Bananas was our code word for when something is wrong.

I managed to get out of the bathroom,I crawled towards the bed and sat there, wiping the tears away.

“Tee baby what's wrong?” Charlie rushed to my side.

She came faster than I expected. Sighing,I just reached to the pregnancy strip and placed it in her hand.

“Oh my God” she gasped, the color drained from her face so quickly.

“Yeah” I croaked.

“Fuckkk” she joined me on the bed and pulled me into her arms.

“I…I don't…I don't kno…”

“Shhhh” she cut me off.

“We'll figure it out Tegan”she whispered.

“I don't know who it is,all I know is that it was great and I didn't give a shit because it was my birthday and I was high” I finally said after a moment of silence.

“Yeah we were so happy it was great, you wouldn't stop talking about it”

“Wipe that dirty smirk off your face girl” she mumbled.

I didn't even know I was smirking,I just laughed. Yeah that night still have a huge effect on me.

It was Charlie's plan, for my first time to be when I was high and unbothered else it was going to be bad and I'll hate it.

But it turned out be to Great, even if I don't remember most of the details and the person who apparently put a baby in me now.

“My mom's friend is an OBYGN she'll take care of it”I say and stand up to get the pizza I ordered before finding out the traumatizing news.

“Tee are you really sure this is what you want?”

I pause my eating and stare at her dead in the eyes. She can't be serious right now,she really isn't suggesting I keep it.

I laugh hysterically, stopping when I see the look on her face.

“Of course I have to,do you want my dad to send me off to my grandparents in Poland?”

“I knew it” she says like she just won a lottery, completely ignoring me.

“So you're getting an abortion bacuse of your dad?”

“I mean yes, besides I don't want to be a mother,I have so much on my plate right now, I'm just in sophomore year in this bloody hell torture of a school…”

“I understand Tee” she says calmly.

“I just feel like you shouldn't take all of that out on a baby, I'm really excited to know about her,I mean you're more excited than I am”

I stare at the crazy girl because obviously she is.

Her? who the hell said it was a girl. Ignoring her I continue with my pizza as I send a quick text to my mom's friend.

“Seriously Tee, okay if not that…. don't you feel guilty?”

“Guilty?” I repeat feeling strange for no reason.

“Yes, don't you think the father should at least know first?”

“You've got to be kidding me, it's my body! I don't give a damn what some guy thinks about me getting an abortion” I snap harshly.

Charlie gives me a pitiful look, then she sighs.

“I'm sorry char, I'm just overwhelmed,I think it's the pregnancy hormones?”

“Yeah the hormones,is that going to be your new excuse for getting your way?”she asks and start laughing, it's so contagious I can't help but join her.

“So it's operation find the baby daddy then?” I ask with a small smile.

It sounds crazy but even if I don't want to admit it,a part of me wants to keep the baby.

“It's operation find the hot guy that made you cum by just whispering dirty words in your ears”

“What the fuck charlie?”I squeal and throw her a pillow.

“Why did I even tell you everything”I sigh.

“Okay so tonight we meet the bartender that served at the party, you know he was the only one with a clear mind and besides he knows almost everyone in college”

Thinking about it now,the bartender wasn't high in fact he kept tabs on everyone, Lino Moretti, he was the dealer and very popular for those kind of things.

“I can’t tonight,” I groaned, checking my gold-rimmed planner.

“I have a mandatory meeting with the Board about the Rivalry week. I have to get over the details with the… hockey team.”

The hockey team. The bane of my existence. A pack of trust-fund predators who treated the campus like their personal playground. And at the center of the storm was the worst human to ever draw breath.

Hayes Ashford.

He was arrogant, cold, and possessed a level of nonchalance that made my blood boil. He was like a goblin that came with the school's most expensive Christmas present. To him, my family’s legacy was a joke, and my hard work was just "cute."

“You and your damn board meetings,” Charlie scoffed.

“You know your dad just uses them to polish his Senate campaign image.”

“It’s the family business, Char. It’s what we do.”

She always does that, she hates when I talk about the board meetings and all I have to do as the student body president and all the charity meetings.

It's not like I hate my job it's my family business, it's what we do,we help people, run charities and I love it because I get to help people, and doing it here is an extension of my family business,it boosts my dad's image out there and will play a huge role in his running for Senate this year. That's why scandals are a capital no and he's a no nonsense person,he hates when someone messes with his plans.

“Girl I just saw a page posted pictures from our fundraiser party on Instagram, the one before your birthday” Charlie says scrolling through her phone.

“Maybe they have pictures from your beach party”

“Maybe” I say.

The memory of that ruined fundraiser party,it was the worst because of that Crazy Captain that couldn't keep his team on their feets.

They all came to the fundraiser drunk and shit faced, they ruined the whole thing, even after I gave Hayes fucking Ashford a prep list.

And when I confronted him about it,he just stared at me while I ranted, with a smug face.

I fucking hate him

“O.M.G” Charlie squeaked looking mortified.

“What?!”

“You need to see this” she said, coming over to hand me her phone.

I stared at the screen,my breath hitched,my eyes widened and suddenly the air in the room wasn't enough as I stared at the picture on the screen.

That blonde hair….

I never applied to the Academy for Magical Beings and Creatures.

Which is why it was more than a little confusing when a letter arrived with my name already printed on a schedule, a dorm waiting, and classes picked out as if someone knew me better than I knew myself. Everyone knows the Academy, it’s where witches sharpen their spells, shifters master their forms, and every kind of magical creature learns to control their gifts.

Everyone except me.

I don’t even know what I am. No shifting, no magic tricks, nothing. Just a girl surrounded by people who can fly, conjure fire, or heal with a touch. So I sit through classes pretending I belong, and I listen hard for any clue that might tell me what’s hidden in my blood.

The only person more curious than me is Blake Nyvas, tall, golden-eyed, and very much a Dragon. People whisper that he’s dangerous, warn me to keep my distance. But Blake seems determined to solve the mystery of me, and somehow I trust him more than anyone else.

Maybe it’s reckless. Maybe it’s dangerous.

But when everyone else looks at me like I don’t belong, Blake looks at me like I’m a riddle worth solving.
