BRIGHTESTAR Novelsnack · Ongoing · 91.2k Words
Introduction
A husky voice rang out in the dark sitting room followed by the light which lit the entire hall, revealing a man sitting on one of the armchairs with legs crossed.
Katie froze in place, not daring to move an inch.
“I… I am going out to get some fresh air,” came Katie's gentle voice that made the man's lips lift up into a deadly smile.
“In the middle of the night? And under the rain?” he asked, looking at her with those gray eyes that stared right into her soul.
“Trying to run away from me again, little hen?”
Katherine has spent her life paying for her mother’s mistakes. Chased by a ruthless kingpin over an impossible debt, she’s worked herself to the bone three jobs, endless fear, and still it’s never enough.
Until a stranger offers her a way out.
One signature, and her debt is gone.
But freedom was never part of the deal.
Now bound to a man she doesn’t understand, Katherine realizes too late that she hasn’t escaped her nightmare…
She’s stepped into a far more dangerous one.
And this time, there may be no way out.
Chapter 1
The snow fell on the ground which was already covered in snow in a dark forest. The air was incredibly cold and no human in their right mind would come out without completely masking their body with cold-resistant clothes.
Katherine lay unmoving, her back facing the tree trunk while her entire body was tied with strong ropes, glued to the tree. Her head was hanging to the side, when her eyes suddenly blinked open.
'So cold, did I fall asleep outside in the cold?' was the first question that popped into her head. She intended to bring her hand forward to rub her eyes as her vision was still blurry.
But for some kind of reason an invisible barrier was restraining her hands, making her let out an annoyed grunt.
"Oh! Great, she's finally awake!" A man in his fifties nearby exclaimed, informing his acquaintance who was standing not too far.
"Shit man! I thought I was going to freeze fresh cold, I knew it, this bitch was pretending all along," the man added, kneeling on one knee so he could match Katie's height where she was tied down.
Katie looked confused, as her vision got clearer she saw who it was, her nightmare. Her heart almost leaped out of her chest as her breathing became shallower. Her body began trembling as she tried struggling only to feel a sharp pain on her face. The man in front of her had slapped her as the pain traveled under her skin. The impact of the slap was enough to shift her face to the side.
"What do you think you're doing? Don't tell me you'll be celebrating Christmas with your family happily when you haven't paid me my money!" He barked.
Katie bit her bottom lip, swallowing the cry that threatened to come out.
The man in front of her was a woman trafficker and her mother had borrowed money from him when she was in need. She committed suicide and Katie could tell it was because of how this man traumatized her. The man whose name was Kevin was now after her.
After high school she had done all she could just to pay up but to no avail, it was five million dollars. How the hell would she pay such money?
Blood oozed out from the corner of her cracked lips as she parted them to speak.
"I am working on it, it'll take time," she tried talking it out in a pleading tone. She always wondered why her mother would borrow money from someone like this instead of taking a legal loan from the bank!
"You dare speak?" The man behind them barked. He was holding a baseball bat in his hand.
"We need the money now!!"
His words sent chills down Katie's spine.
"What do you suggest I do? I am trying my best to pay up!" she let out a cry. Hot tears rolled down her cheeks as more tears welled up.
He placed one hand above her head and whispered.
"Try harder," the man patted her head with his other free hand. "I do know a place where you can make quick money to pay us back!" The man looked into her brown eyes while her body shook uncontrollably.
"You give men what they want and they give you what you want."
'What else can they think?' thought Katie to herself. Ever since her mother passed, she had always had to face these monsters.
"I can't do that!" She was frank with her words, making it clear to both men that she wasn't interested. She might as well kill herself just like her mother.
The man glared at her, his head was bald with no hair on it, but today Katie noticed he was wearing a cap because of the cold.
Katie was wearing a light blue top and a short jean skirt revealing her lower body skin.
"Is that so?" asked the man as he ungloved one of his hands, placing it on her thigh to make her glare at him.
"I assure you, you'd make quick money, unless you deliberately don't want to pay your debts."
His fingers made their way into her short skirt.
"Or I'll kill you, taking your entire organs and sell them to make money!" This made Katie's heart sink, and she saw the man stand up.
"Teach her a lesson." The other man stepped toward her with the baseball bat in his hand.
Katie's eyes widened as she saw him raise it up, he started slamming it on her body and despite her screams the man didn't stop until she fell unconscious, completely drenched in her own blood.
…
Vincent was busy walking through the woods enjoying the cold and the sight of the snow. Every step he took left his footprint behind, making a deep frown on his face. He couldn't believe that his life had gotten this lonely and boring.
Vincent wore a cloak that hid his entire body, not because he was cold, but because he wouldn't want anyone to see who he was. Suddenly, he felt his claws elongating and his fangs threatening to come out. His enchanting gray eyes turning bloodshot.
'Damn! It's five hours already? How could the time move so fast?'
He cursed, he needed to drink blood and anytime his pain came his thirst for blood intensified times five and he hated it. His sense of smell for blood also got sharper during this process. He already figured that the humans were indoors because of the excessive cold, busy planning for the big day tomorrow. He grit his teeth, he hated this pain and wondered when it would ever end. Falling to his knees he clutched his chest that felt like burning lava.
"I hate my life," he muttered to himself. He had to bear this thing for one full hour before it stopped! Ridiculous! This had happened to him thousands of times but he would never get used to this pain.
Suddenly, in the middle of this excruciating pain his nose started catching the scent of human blood from a distance, making his eyes light up. Not wanting to waste much time he used his vampiric speed to arrive at the spot within seconds.
He saw a girl who was tied to a tree, it looked like she had just been tortured. He didn't care he just wanted blood. Not that blood could stop his pain but at least it gave him pleasure. Vincent lashed forward, uncovering his cloak hood ready to sink his fangs into her skin. He could hear her heart beating so he knew she was still alive.
One of his hands placed on her forehead, his eyes targeting her neck but the moment his skin came in contact with hers his pain vanished instantly, making him gasp in wonderment.
At the same time Katie opened her eyes to see a man kneeling in front of her. Her vision was blurry but she could tell it was a man even in the dark because of his huge frame.
"Please help me!" Her creaky voice begged.

Enough was enough.

Unwanted Mate Of The Lycan Kings
Ripped from her bed and thrown into a world of blood and treachery, Zirah’s fate is sealed, a forced marriage to one of the three Lycan Kings, each more monstrous than the last.
These kings, cursed by their sins, pride, greed, wrath, envy, lust, and gluttony are at war, fighting to claim their father’s throne. But the last thing any of them want is a queen.
To them, Zirah is nothing but a pawn, an object to be used, discarded, or destroyed.
But they underestimate her.
If they think she will cower, they are wrong.
If they believe she will bow, they will bleed.
And if they want to break her, they’ll have to survive her first.
BROKEN TRUST
Neither of them knew she was carrying his child.
Emily’s affair didn’t just end her marriage—it erased the life she thought was guaranteed. Ryan left without looking back, carrying his anger like armor and leaving Emily alone with regret she would never outrun. Three years later, fate drags them back into each other’s world, along with a little girl who has Ryan’s eyes and a truth that shatters everything he thought he knew.
Old wounds reopen, grief masquerades as rage, and love refuses to stay buried. As parenthood binds them together and the past demands accountability, Emily and Ryan must face the question neither of them is ready to answer: is broken trust the end of their story… or the beginning of a love forged through loss, forgiveness, and brutal honesty?
Love's Deadly Equation
I was sent to her.
To watch her. To protect her. And, when the order comes… to kill her.
My name is Keegan Caffery. I’m the Carter Mafia’s best hitman. I don’t miss. I don’t fail.
At least, I didn’t use to.
I don’t know what it is about her that got to me first—her mouth, her mind, or the way she looks at me like I’m not what she should fear.
I’ve had a gun to her head since I walked into her life.
She knows it.
And she still doesn’t run.
She just watches me back like she’s studying a problem she refuses to call impossible.
She’s the one variable I can’t control.
And God help me… I don’t want to.
I have an order. I have loyalty. I have a trigger.
But every time I imagine it—
I can’t stand it.
Her or me. That’s the math.
It’s a deadly equation I don’t want to solve.
⬥ Maisie ⬥
I’m not ordinary. I stopped pretending long ago.
My name is Maisie Seo. IQ 145. Clinical genius.
Which sounds impressive until you realize what it actually means: I don’t fit anywhere people expect me to.
I see patterns everywhere. Outcomes before they happen. People like equations I’ve already solved.
It gets lonely in a world you’ve already figured out.
So I dull myself down. Smoke the edges off. Pretend, badly, to be the kind of normal that lets people stay.
Then he walked in.
I knew what he was immediately. Dangerous. Intentional. Wrong in all the right ways.
I should be afraid of him.
I keep waiting for that to kick in.
Instead, I’m fascinated.
Because for the first time in my life… I’ve found something I can’t solve.
He is my deadly equation.
Let Them Kneel
Cast out by her pack. Forgotten by the Lycans.
She lived among humans—quiet, invisible, tucked away in a town no one looked at twice.
But when her first heat comes without warning, everything changes.
Her body ignites. Her instincts scream. And something primal stirs beneath her skin—
summoning a big, bad Alpha who knows exactly how to quench her fire.
When he claims her, it’s ecstasy and ruin.
For the first time, she believes she’s been accepted.
Seen.
Chosen.
Until he leaves her the next morning—
like a secret never to be spoken.
But Kaelani is not what they thought.
Not wolfless. Not weak.
There is something ancient inside her. Something powerful. And it’s waking.
And when it does—
they’ll all remember the girl they tried to erase.
Especially him.
She’ll be the dream he keeps chasing… the one thing that ever made him feel alive.
Because secrets never stay buried.
And neither do dreams.
Bonds at War: The Virgin is Mine
Perhaps then they would stop controlling my every move. Maybe my brothers would stop resenting me. Perhaps I wouldn’t feel so invisible anymore.
No one believed I could do it—not even my mate, Alpha Jaxon Trevane.
The night I planned to tell him... I found him tangled in bed with my best friend.
Heartbroken and humiliated, I left everything behind and went to Elite alone.
But the academy isn’t the fairytale I dreamed about.
Beneath the grand halls and traditions, a brutal game is being played.
The four ruling Alphas of the North, South, East, and West fight for power, dominance... and now, for me.
A virgin. Untouched. Unclaimed. The prize they all want.
There’s the mate who shattered my heart and swears he’ll win me back.
The brilliant strategist who wants me as his Luna.
The dangerous playboy who promises no one will ever touch me but him.
And the cold, possessive Alpha who watches from the shadows—and would destroy anyone who dares to take me from him.
But in a place where love is a battlefield and lust is a weapon... falling in love might be the most dangerous thing I ever do.
Welcome to Elite Order Academy—where every desire has a price, and my body is the ultimate trophy.

Thrown into Isteros Academy—a world of old money, blood money, and cruel social games—she's an outsider by birth and an afterthought by design. Her sister Solyn is the school's untouchable queen and Mara is her favorite target.
Everyone expects Atreus to treat his fiancée’s scholarship sister like everyone else does—as if she doesn’t matter.

"Don't fall in love with one piece," he warns her, over a board neither of them treats like a game anymore. "It punishes the person who only sees half of it."
Mara doesn't understand why the boy who's supposed to make her life harder keeps quietly making it easier—not until she realizes the anonymous stranger she's been writing to every week already has a name.
His.
He doesn't know he's writing to her, either.
By the time they find out, it's too late to stop what's already happening. Far too dangerous for anyone to find out.
In an empty studio, in the middle of a rainstorm, she asks him: 'Am I the kind of girl who kisses a boy engaged to my sister?'
He doesn't answer.
So she asks: 'What are we?’
He told her not to fall in love with one piece.
She fell anyway.
And he was never far behind.
