A Tale of the Rejected Luna
Betty Luna · Ongoing · 52.9k Words
Introduction
When Rhea was chosen by her destined mate, she thought it meant freedom. Love. A future.
Instead, it meant betrayal. Left for dead in the aftermath of a fire set by her mate, Rhea awakens disfigured and broken, her wolf silenced by trauma. And the final blow? Her best friend has taken her place as Luna beside the man she once loved.
Forced to flee the only home she’s ever known, Rhea seeks refuge in Shadowhills, an unforgiving land ruled by Lycans. Silverfang Citadel is her only chance to train, to endure, and maybe, to reclaim a life stolen from her. But she doesn’t fit in here either. She can't shift. She can't forget. And she definitely can't trust anyone. Rhea must fight tooth and claw to earn a place among wolves stronger, faster, and deadlier than she’s ever known.
Yet as trials begin and bonds are tested, Rhea starts to feel something stir, deep within her blood, her bones, and her very soul.
What happens when the fearsome Lycan King claims her as his?
Would Rhea open her heart to love again?
Chapter 1
RHEA
The bond was supposed to feel like warmth. Like coming home. But with him, it feels like winter.
I stand in the doorway, holding the tray of food with shaking hands. I made roasted chicken and potatoes. His favourite. I seasoned it the way his mother used to, down to the last herb. I even burned my hand flipping it just right. But none of that matters.
He doesn't even look up from his desk.
"Just leave it," Kieran says, his voice as cold as the wind that howled during our mating ceremony.
"I thought you might be hungry," I offer, trying to keep my voice hopeful. It's pathetic.
"I'm not."
It’s always the same answer.
I set the tray down on the small table near the fire. The scent of the food rises, but it doesn't soften his features. Nothing ever does. He barely spares me a glance, and when he does, it feels like being cut open.
I want to ask him what I did wrong? Why he avoids me? Why his touch feels like rejection instead of passion?
But I don't ask. I already know he won't answer.
Even when he does touch me, it’s like he can’t stand the feel of my skin. Like I'm dirty. Like I'm broken. An inconvenience he's forced to tolerate.
How are we supposed to have an heir like this?
We haven't even kissed properly. Mating? He won't even share the same bed with me. I sleep alone in a room meant for two while he builds walls between us.
"I'll come back later," I murmur.
His eyes meet mine, finally. They're so grey, cold storm clouds that never break.
"Don’t bother," he says.
I freeze, every word slicing deeper than it should. I nod, because I don't know what else to do. Because crying in front of him never changes anything.
I walk out, my footsteps echoing behind me like an apology I'll never give. The hallway stretches long and empty ahead. My chest tightens with every step, the lump in my throat thick and sharp.
They say the Moon Goddess never makes mistakes.
But if that's true…
Why does my mate look at me like I'm the worst thing that ever happened to him?
---
I don't know how long I wander before I find myself behind the pack house, near the old greenhouse that no one uses any more. It’s quiet here, and the scent of wildflowers still lingers despite the glass panels being cracked and overgrown.
Eva finds me there like she always does.
"There you are," she says gently, plopping down beside me on the low stone wall. Her scent, lavender and honey wraps around me like comfort. "I figured you'd be hiding again."
"I'm not hiding," I say, staring down at my hands. "I just needed air."
Eva doesn't press me. She never does. That's why I trust her. She never judges or look down on me like the others--she just stays by my side like a warm, comforting pillar.
"They said you missed breakfast again," she continues, plucking a stray leaf from my hair. "And Kieran didn’t even look at you at the meeting yesterday."
I wince. "You know he never does."
Eva frowns, but her eyes are kind. "Rhea… it'll change. He's your mate. The bond is still new, maybe he's just adjusting."
I let out a bitter laugh. "Adjusting? He acts like I repulse him."
She looks away, uncomfortable. Not because she doesn't believe me, but because she does. It's not exactly a secret that my mate despises me.
"I try," I whisper. "I cook. I clean. I smile when I want to scream. I reach for him and he pulls away like I'm poison." My throat tightens, but I keep going. "We barely talk. He barely touches me. And when he does… It’s like I'm disgusting to him. Like the Moon Goddess made a mistake."
Eva squeezes my hand. "She doesn't make mistakes. You’re kind and loyal and stronger than you think."
"But I'm nothing," I say quietly. "I was born to a no-name wolf family. I don't have a title. I don't have a lineage. What could someone like Kieran possibly see in me?"
"Maybe the part of you that no one else sees," Eva says softly.
I want to believe her. I want to cling to the hope that one day Kieran will wake up and see me--not just the weak girl the pack whispers about when they think I'm not listening. But it’s hard to hold onto hope when every glance from him feels like punishment.
"I'm tired, Eva," I whisper. "Tired of pretending I'm enough."
She pulls me into a hug, and I let myself fall into it. For a moment, I pretend that this warmth is what a mate's love is supposed to feel like. Like I'm safe. Like I'm chosen.
But deep down, I know the truth. Kieran didn’t choose me. He tolerates me. And fate... Fate feels more like a curse than a blessing.
Eva pulls back slightly, brushing my hair from my face. "You’re not nothing, Rhea. One day, you'll see it too. And so will he."
I nod, even though I don't believe it. What would I do without Eva?

The Pack: Rule Number 1 - No Mates
"Let me go," I whimper, my body trembling with need. "I don't want you touching me."
I fall forward onto the bed then turn around to stare at him. The dark tattoos of Domonic's chiseled shoulders, quiver and and expand with the heave of his chest. His deep dimpled smile is full of arrogance as he reaches behind himself to lock the door.
Biting his lip, he stalks toward me, his hand going to the seam of his pants and the thickening bulge there.
"Are you sure you don't want me to touch you?" He whispers, untying the knot and slipping a hand inside. "Because I swear to God, that is all I have been wanting to do. Every single day from the moment you stepped in our bar and I smelled your perfect flavor from across the room."
New to the world of shifters, Draven is human on the run. A beautiful girl who no one could protect. Domonic is the cold Alpha of the Red Wolf Pack. A brotherhood of twelve wolves that live by twelve rules. Rules which they vowed could NEVER be broken.

The Human Among Wolves
My stomach twisted, but he wasn’t finished.
"You're just a pathetic little human," Zayn said, his words deliberate, each one hitting like a slap. "Spreading your legs for the first guy who bothers to notice you."
Heat rushed to my face, burning with humiliation. My chest ached — not from his words alone, but from the sick realization that I had trusted him. That I had let myself believe he was different.
I was so, so stupid.

Rise of the Banished She-Wolf
That roar stole my eighteenth birthday and shattered my world. My first shift should have been glory—blood turned blessing into shame. By dawn they'd branded me "cursed": cast out by my pack, abandoned by family, stripped of my nature. My father didn't defend me—he sent me to a forsaken island where wolfless outcasts were forged into weapons, forced to kill each other until only one could leave.
On that island I learned the darkest edges of humanity and how to bury terror in bone. Countless times I wanted to surrender—dive into the waves and never surface—but the accusing faces that haunted my dreams pushed me back toward something colder than survival: revenge. I escaped, and for three years I hid among humans, collecting secrets, learning to move like a shadow, sharpening patience into precision—becoming a blade.
Then, under a full moon, I touched a bleeding stranger—and my wolf returned with a violence that made me whole. Who was he? Why could he wake what I'd thought dead?
One thing I know: now is the time.
I have waited three years for this. I will make everyone who destroyed me pay—and take back everything that was stolen from me.

Falling For The Biker: The Vice President's Girl
His eyes darken, flicking to my mouth.
"It's wrong. Your brother would slit my throat for just standing this close. But tell me, little bird" his breath ghosts my skin, "are you trembling because you hate me… or because you've wanted this just as much as I have?"
Wren thought she'd buried the chaos of New Orleans for good—the clubs, the blood-soaked loyalties, the men who lived and died by their kuttes. Seattle gave her everything she ever wanted: freedom, love, a future.
But one betrayal shatters it all.
Dragged home by tragedy, Wren finds herself under the watchful eye of Ezra Jax—the Raven Reapers MC's vice president and her brother's best friend. He's infuriating, dangerous, and far too tempting for a man she should never touch.
And the deeper Wren is pulled back into his world, the more she realizes nothing about her past—or about Ezra—is what she believed.
In the chaos of gang wars, mounting debts, and old betrayals, he becomes the one constant. The more she fights him, the harder she falls. And the more he pushes her away, the more lethal his pull becomes.
Because in this world, love isn't sweet.
It's brutal. Bloody.
And it's bound to break them both.
When loyalty is everything and love can cost your life, will Wren risk her heart on the one man she was never meant to love?
The Lycan Kings and the White Wolf.
I Slapped My Fiancé—Then Married His Billionaire Nemesis
Technically, Rhys Granger was my fiancé now—billionaire, devastatingly hot, and a walking Wall Street wet dream. My parents shoved me into the engagement after Catherine disappeared, and honestly? I didn’t mind. I’d crushed on Rhys for years. This was my chance, right? My turn to be the chosen one?
Wrong.
One night, he slapped me. Over a mug. A stupid, chipped, ugly mug my sister gave him years ago. That’s when it hit me—he didn’t love me. He didn’t even see me. I was just a warm-bodied placeholder for the woman he actually wanted. And apparently, I wasn’t even worth as much as a glorified coffee cup.
So I slapped him right back, dumped his ass, and prepared for disaster—my parents losing their minds, Rhys throwing a billionaire tantrum, his terrifying family plotting my untimely demise.
Obviously, I needed alcohol. A lot of alcohol.
Enter him.
Tall, dangerous, unfairly hot. The kind of man who makes you want to sin just by existing. I’d met him only once before, and that night, he just happened to be at the same bar as my drunk, self-pitying self. So I did the only logical thing: I dragged him into a hotel room and ripped off his clothes.
It was reckless. It was stupid. It was completely ill-advised.
But it was also: Best. Sex. Of. My. Life.
And, as it turned out, the best decision I’d ever made.
Because my one-night stand isn’t just some random guy. He’s richer than Rhys, more powerful than my entire family, and definitely more dangerous than I should be playing with.
And now, he’s not letting me go.
