Introduction

Sam's world shatters the day his father is murdered, leaving him in the hands of his late father's half-brother — Marcus — a terrifying mafia alpha werewolf who becomes his legal guardian. As the years pass in the violent shadows of their empire, an intense and forbidden tension builds between them, finally exploding when Marcus binds Sam to him with an ancient blood pact, marking him as his omega. Trapped in a merciless world where the weak are slaughtered, Sam can't bring himself to truly hate the man who now owns him. But deadly secrets, pack wars, and a dangerous new rival named Lucas — a brooding alpha who stirs feelings Sam shouldn't have — threaten to destroy everything.
Caught between loyalty, betrayal, and raw desire, Sam must choose: fight to break the bond that chains him… or surrender to the unexpected strength and love hidden in the arms of the one man he was never supposed to want.

Chapter 1

I shove the heavy oak door open with my shoulder, rain still dripping from the hood of my black sweatshirt onto the polished marble floor. My backpack feels like it weighs a ton after a full day of back-to-back lectures, and all I want is to sink into the scalding water of the private bathing pool at the back of the estate. The place is always too quiet at this hour, the kind of quiet that presses in on you until you remember exactly where you are — trapped in a fortress that smells like money, blood, and power.

Steam rolls out the moment the door cracks, thick and heavy, carrying that familiar scent of cedarwood and pine oil mixed with something darker, more primal. I step inside, my wet sneakers squeaking against the slick tiles. The air is warm, almost suffocating, and the high glass dome overhead lets in slivers of moonlight that cut through the mist like silver blades.

My eyes adjust slowly. And then I see him. Marcus Valerius Kane stands under the wide waterfall shower in the center of the pool area, completely naked. His back is to me, broad and powerful, every muscle carved like it was built for war rather than suits and boardrooms. Water cascades down over his shoulders, tracing the brutal map of scars that crisscross his skin — jagged claw marks from old pack fights, puckered bullet wounds, thin white lines from knives that nearly ended him.

They tell stories I’ve only heard in whispers around the estate: stories of alphas who challenged him and never walked away. He tilts his head back, running both large hands through his wet black hair. The motion makes the muscles in his arms and back flex, water streaming in rivulets over the hard planes of his body. Steam curls lazily around his narrow hips, teasing the eye but not quite hiding the powerful lines of his thighs or the way droplets slide down the deep V of his lower back before disappearing lower.

My throat closes up tight. A rush of heat slams into me so violently that my knees nearly buckle. I know I should turn around right now. I know I should mutter an apology and bolt. But my feet stay rooted to the marble, and my eyes — traitorous, greedy eyes — refuse to look away.

The water keeps falling, highlighting every ridge of muscle, every scar, every inch of tanned skin that looks like it was made to be touched. Something deep in my chest cracks open, raw and electric. A strange pull ignites low in my belly, spreading outward like liquid fire through my veins. My pulse hammers loud in my ears. My palms start to sweat. An unfamiliar ache blooms hot and insistent between my legs, making my breath hitch and my thoughts scatter into nothing but static.

What the hell is wrong with me? He’s my uncle. My guardian. The man who took me in after my father was gunned down like a dog in the street. The ruthless alpha who runs this entire criminal empire with an iron fist and a colder heart. I shouldn’t be standing here staring like some idiot. I shouldn’t be feeling… this.

But I can’t stop. My gaze traces the water as it glides over his skin, following the path it takes down his spine, over the curve of his ass, and lower. Heat floods my face. My mouth goes dry. The ache intensifies, twisting into something sharper, more desperate. My body reacts without permission, a low thrum vibrating through me that feels both terrifying and addictive.

Marcus suddenly freezes under the spray. His shoulders tense. Slowly, deliberately, he turns his head toward the doorway. Golden alpha eyes — glowing faintly in the dim light — lock directly onto mine through the swirling steam. Time stops.

The world narrows until there’s nothing but him: dripping wet, powerful, completely exposed, and staring at me like he can see straight through to the forbidden thoughts racing in my head. My heart stutters, then slams against my ribs so hard it hurts. I feel exposed too, even though I’m fully clothed. Like he’s peeling back every layer with just that one look. “Eyes up, Sam,” he growls. His voice is low, rough, like gravel dragged over steel. It cuts through the steam and sinks straight into my bones, sending another unwanted shiver racing down my spine.

The command breaks the spell. I stumble backward so fast that my backpack slams against the doorframe with a loud thud. Heat explodes across my cheeks and neck. “I—I didn’t know you were in here,” I stammer, words tumbling out in a mess. “I was just— the rain— I came to— fuck, I’m sorry—”My voice cracks. I can’t even form a full sentence. The image of him is burned behind my eyelids now — every scar, every drop of water, every inch of that body that I have no right to look at. My legs finally obey and I spin around, bolting out of the bathing room like the devil himself is chasing me.

I don’t stop running until I reach the third floor and slam the door to my bedroom shut behind me. The lock clicks into place with a sharp sound that does nothing to calm the storm inside my chest. I press my back against the wood, chest heaving, rain and sweat mixing on my skin. My hoodie suddenly feels too tight, too hot. I yank it off and toss it onto the floor, but it doesn’t help. The heat is still there, pulsing under my skin, refusing to fade.

I slide down the door until I’m sitting on the plush carpet, knees drawn up to my chest, forehead pressed against them. My hands tremble as I grip my hair. “What the fuck was that?” I whisper into the empty room. “Get it together, Sam. He’s your uncle. Your dead father’s half-brother. The man who owns this whole damn empire.” But the words feel hollow.

Because no matter how many times I repeat them, my body remembers the sight of him.

The way the water traced his muscles. The way those golden eyes pinned me in place. The low growl of his voice sent sparks straight through me. A knock sounds somewhere far off in the estate — sharp, urgent. Then a phone rings once, cutting through the silence like a warning. I lift my head, ears straining. Voices murmur in the hallway below, low and tense. Something about “east border” and “Draven’s men sniffing around again.

”I squeeze my eyes shut tighter. Pack politics. Rival syndicates. The constant shadow of war hangs over this place like a storm cloud. That’s what I should be thinking about. Not the way Marcus looked standing there naked under the moonlight. Not the way my stomach twisted with something that felt dangerously close to want. Thunder rolls outside the tall windows, rattling the glass. Rain lashes harder against the panes. I stay on the floor for what feels like hours, trying to breathe normally, trying to push the memory away. But every time I blink, he’s there again — powerful, scarred, commanding. And worse… I can still feel his stare on my skin like a brand. Like he marked me with just that one look.

"Come here."
"What?" It was out of my mouth before I could stop it. I did not wait for him to answer me, I walked toward him.
"Dance on my lap."
My head screamed at me to turn around and run. But my whole body responded to his command.
"Yes, Alpha," I pulled my dress over my body, it dropped over my head and fell to the ground behind me. I was left in nothing but my matching bra and thong. My hands covered my chest on reflex.
"Let me see."
My hands dropped to my sides.
I lowered myself into his lap, facing him. His eyes peered into mine, and I could feel his hot breath fan my face. His dick responded to all my moves, hardening against my now-moist vagina. I swallowed hard, allowing my lips to part in a ragged breath. His hands trailed up to my waist.
"No touching."
