Chapter 1
Emily Parker ate her breakfast silently watching as her mother poured lemonade for her and her younger brother, at twenty- two, Emily still depended on her mom for food. She stabbed at her pie in frustration and shoved it into her mouth and chewed balefully, the food was good, her mother was a wonder when it comes to cooking, but Emily had no appetite; normally she would begin the day by cracking a few jokes, but she was in no mood for that. Emily picked up her cup and gulped down the cold lemonade. Her father would have come out of the room heading to his work by this time, he would have ruffled, she and Sam’s hair, but he was gone, murdered, like an animal. They had met the cops, who dropped the case in a month.
Emily’s mother came out dressed in a green blouse, she worked as a homeroom teacher.
“I am going to work now Emily, take care of Sam.” She said, Sam grumbled and stood, he stared at his mother in the eye.
“I am twenty, mom. I should be the man of the house, not some jobless shit.” Sam said.
“Sam!” His mother exclaimed, “Jesus! Don’t think like that, you are too young, you go to college, and having a job will distract you, I want you to be a Lawyer.” She said
“To hell with being a lawyer, Mom, I can’t stand here, watching you suffer just to see a twenty-year-old eat” he yelled and stormed out of the house and slammed the door hard.
“You must understand him, Mom,” Emily said, “He is a man, it natural for him to feel that way,” she said and her mother nodded and silently went out, sighing, Emily stood and undid her braids, letting her hair fall to its full length, she was going to get something done, like her brother, she couldn’t stand to see her mom suffer. It was raining outside, so Emily put on her sweater, grabbed an umbrella, and headed outside.
Emily knocked and waited, on the other side of the door someone yawned, the door was suddenly yanked backward and her friend, Brooke stared at her sleepily, and then her eyes lit.
“Emily!” She said and hugged her, Emily groaned as Brooke squeezed her hard. “You should hear the good news,” Brooke said.
“What?” Emily asked, Brooke's grin widened and she spun round
“I got us a job,” Brooke said and Emily's heart soared, now she would be able to support her mother, at least.
“That’s great” Emily replied and grinned, “We can buy cheeseburgers now” Emily muttered and they burst into laughter.
“It’s a janitor work,” Brooke said, “Might be stressful, but the pay is good,” she explained.
“I don’t care if it's stressful, I need the money,” Emily said, Brooke grinned slyly as if she wanted to say something but she shut her mouth.
“How’s your mom and Sam” Brooke said, “Sam in particular” she added, smiling mischievously at Emily.
“Jeez! Brooke, he is younger than you, stop the flirting.” Emily chided.
“Shut up Mom, the guy is so handsome, did you see his body, for a twenty-year-old guy, your brother rocks it, I like to feel………”
“Just shut up,” Emily said and Brooke grinned at her like a psycho.
“I’ll get him one day” She threatened and Emily rolled her eyes and smiled, Typical of Brooke to eye handsome well-built men. “Let’s go in, I don’t like the rain,” Brooke said and they went inside her apartment, Brooke had gotten this apartment from her parents, they had left her to pursue their career in Europe, at first they sent her money and contacted her frequently, then the money had stopped coming and Brooke had to fend herself, she once worked in a mall, but was sent off when she slapped the hell out of her boss when he grabbed her backside.
Brooke was kind, but stubborn and strong-willed, Emily had joked many times that she should have joined the army, Brooke would smile slowly, then when Emily once not looking, she added chili to her drink, Emily would not be able to speak properly for hours and Brooke will holler out with laughter when Emily couldn’t pronounce her name properly, being with Brooke made Emily forget the pain of her father death.
Brooke went to the kitchen and came back with wine, she grinned at Emily.
“Care for one?” She asked, knowing her love for wine.
“Are you kidding?” Emily said and snatched the bottle from Brooke's hands, she poured the wine into a glass and chugged the whole thing down her throat, “As good as always” Emily said and poured another, Brooke smiled and drank hers.
“So when do I get to bang Sam,” Brooke said and Emily almost spilled wine, as she glared at her friend.
“You don’t give up, do you?” Emily asked and Brooke's smile widened.
“Maybe I have fallen in love with him” Brooke teased and Emily scowled.
“I won’t give my brother to you, knowing you, you will drain and suck him dry,” Emily said and Brooke grinned.
“Of course, it's customary for me” Brooke admitted and Emily shook her head; she had never seen a thick-headed person like Brooke, the girl was just so damn stubborn, Brooke stared at Emily and raised a brow.
“Got a man yet Em?” Brooke asked and Emily frowned,
“No, and I do not need a man in my life,” Emily said, “They are all fuckers, damn them,” She Said. Emily stood, “I have to prepare something at home, I’ll see you later,” Emily said and Brooke grinned.
“Tell Sam I said hi,” Brooke said and Emily couldn’t help but smile.
“I’ll tell him, but I wish he breaks your heart” Emily joked, and Brooke laughed heartily, she drank the last of her wine, and she stood and hugged Emily.
“Take care,” Brooke said and Emily smiled, she wished life was like this, simple and funny, but things get rough on the way, she had gotten a job, but did that assure a smooth life?

They consume you.

Lethal Web of Mafia's Revenge (Sequal to "Innocent in Mafia's Web)
He was a beast inhabiting this mansion, inflicting inhuman torture on my poor soul. He had created a living hell for me, this pitiful girl, within his castle.
On this cold winter night, he threw my wounded body into the icy pool, arrogantly enjoying it all, drinking and smoking expensive cigars. A satisfied, cold smile played on his lips as he reveled in my pain. His face was filled with the darkness of sin.
“How...more...am I…still…standing?” I stammered, my lips trembling.
Zain paused, thinking. Then, turning away from her, he replied:
“Until you die!”
With that, he left. As he wished. At that moment, my wish came true; I died.
But not in a frozen pool; I was struck in the head by a bullet from afar, blood splattering everywhere—that was far more gruesome.
My consciousness began to fade, but suddenly, I opened my eyes again and found myself mopping the floor in an ordinary restaurant.
I was startled: What happened? I was reborn? This is unbelievable!
